  1. Another great read.
  2. Great read, and right on spot. Character, probably the best criteria. For someone with character, will possess honor, truthfulness, and all other characteristics we associate with outstanding human traits.
  3. [Hidden Content] Appears even the leftist media is beginning to question Cruz's affiliation with a White Supremacist group (including the Huff Post - wow). I never understood this part of the story. Why would a white supremacist shoot a predominantly bunch of white kids and adults? So why did many outlets run with it? Most wanted it to be true so bad, they couldn't wait to report it. Investigate? Hell know, release it, even though an iota of common sense would tell you it was probably wrong.
  4. Sorry coach, but I can't tell if this is real or a joke. It should be a joke, but Maxine is uniquely qualified to have written this, word for word. What a congressional embarrassment.
  5. And the Mayor of London is, drum roll please, a Muslim. Of course, we have our share of idiot mayors, who aren't Muslim, but I suspect London would go a little easier on jihadist.
  6. Maybe I'm just imagining things, because I haven't seen Kountze play, but looking at the scores weekly, it seems like they were playing better earlier in the season. Just me or have you noticed that?
  7. Agreed. But no more basketball than I've watched, I've seen nights when kids who've been making 3's in Ho-hum fashion, all of a sudden can't make layups. Couldn't get on a ladder & drop it in the basket (Silsbee 1st half against BC prime example). Maybe Broaddus was having one of "them". With playoffs starting, we shouldn't talk about "them nights". Comparable to the unwritten rule in golf that you don't say the dreaded, £#¥¥€%#, S___k word. So no more on this subject - insert lil guy beating his head on a wall, emoji.
  8. Out of likes, so +1,000 And Carthage - must be the water up there. Much like Newton & WOS, GOOD YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR. Their Coach Surratt (sp?) is a good one. Have a friend up there, so I keep an eye on their games. If they get behind by half, him & his staff do some serious adjusting. By the end of the fourth, they put a whipping on ya. Not many staffs That Good at that.
  9. It is a serious problem. And answers? No one has serious answers. Gun control? Pretty much a joke, as Chicago proves. Hansen said, "Since these shootings are by white kids, so there's nothing we can do", is a little unfair. In Chicago, a recent 3 year period, 260 schools age children, predominantly black, were killed in shootings. Guess what Mr. Hansen, there's nothing we can do. Although Hansen does have a point about terrorist. Terrorists blow up airplanes. What do we do? Strict screening of passengers and luggage, PLUS, put Air Marshalls on (every?) flights. Is that the answer to school shootings? Maybe, but I doubt it. So many schools, there aren't enough zeros in our numerical system to account for the cost. I do find it strange that the violent video games, where kids shoot endless numbers of people, with blood and gore, haven't come under attack. Oh, and we have folks saying, Down with cap pistols. The logic fails me. Arming select teachers? As bad as it sounds, perhaps the biggest deterrent. Had football coach Arron Feis, who died protecting a student, had a weapon, it could've ended there. Or, have piping installed throughout the school to release a thick cloud of innocuous smoke so the shooter couldn't see targets? Grasping at straws. Almost all schools are "gun free" zones. Makes them a whacko's paradise. Fish in a barrel, as the old saying goes. So like you Hoops, I sit here with a heavy heart, and no real answers.
  10. While I agree EC could've found a tougher opponent, to simply identify Broaddus as a "lower class that didn't win their district" is slightly misleading. Broaddus is ranked #17 in the state in 2A, and their two district losses were to Pineywoods, who is ranked #6. Obviously not comparable to EC, but still a decent team. And Jasper was beaten by Evadale who is not ranked (but did win district). I'd bet Coach Sutherland had a particular reason to play Broaddus, but regardless I wouldn't second guess him.
  11. I agree. To much rich basketball tradition to stay down to much longer..
  12. Says a lot for Leggett, playing BS that close.
  13. Evadale defeated Cleveland 78-73.
  14. Yes EAGLEFOREVER, it got crazy. And understand, when I said Carthage would've beat y'all fairly easy, that's not knocking the Eagles, that's just the nature of the beast. Newton doesn't have to beat them, they only have to beat the teams in their classification. Go Eagles!
  15. Way to go Bobcats! Hoops, was you sweating? I was at our game.
  16. Just left a game like this. Go Bobcats!
  17. No let up guys. Pedal to the medal.
  18. Lets go beat some Indians. At least Cleveland will see what a good looking gym looks like!
  19. Cupcake comments? Trying to referee a bunch of loons being keyboard ninjas? Lol, and I did state Newton wanted no part of Carthage, and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to start a thread on Curling in the Winter Olympics.
  20. Btw, Great video. I saw it on other site and Lmbo. It's a classic. For those of you in the heat of the discussion that didn't watch it, it's on page 4 of this thread. Take 3 min & enjoy.
  21. It's hard to believe that two months ago, virtually everyone on the Forum was pulling for WOS & Newton to win State. Now it's attack attack attack. Primarily because of a couple of absurd post, or misinterpretation of other post. No, no way, Newton beats Carthage last year. That's a one sided victory. No, no way, WOS is scared to play anyone (2014 3pt loss to 5A Foster 9-2, and KIPP the last two years, arguably one of the worst teams with the biggest cajones in the state). Let's get over all this, and get ready to back both WOS & Newton in the coming season. I just hope Evadale doesn't fill one of Newton's open dates
  22. I'm guessing Sam is #2. Kid can play, and like you, if he'd had more help, they would've been a force. Still, I expect them to play a super game against Pineywoods. If memory serves, they did last year. Good luck Sharks.
  23. Any basketball players for Silsbee, or is the offensive line playing? Good grief!
  24. Good good job Bobcats. No more Mr. Nice Guy!
