  1. Change economy to feces and you nailed it BSW
  2. Since a sports teams name is usually something ferocious and brave, I'd bet you if you took a vote of every Native American the majority would say they're okay, actually proud, with the team named the Washington Redskins. The fact that the Seminole Indians have given Florida State permission to use their name should be proof enough. And I'd ask the question, why should it be offensive in this context? I'm proud of the Houston Texans, because I'm a Texan (although they had so many injuries this year, ferocious is a little far fetched lol). If I thought the majority of Native Americans were offended by it, yes change the name. But they know their ancestors were ferocious and brave, ergo the pride. I see it as a typical leftist power play, for nothing more than to disrupt a popular facet of American life, just as the kneeling is. And the players involved don't realize they're Pawns in this, nor do they realize they're killing the Golden Goose. What sad morons.
  3. I must apologize to Hoops, and the rest of y'all, because this isn't from a movie, but I laughed so hard the first time I heard it. As the Four Tops said in a song, "I can't help myself".
  4. I've always admired you. Lol
  5. Not surprised. Bostwick said it should get up to 35-36 tomorrow afternoon, but if the water is still on the road, could be bad again tomorrow night.
  6. Old Saying:. Politics makes strange bedfellows. The reason I'm posting this, is the irony I see in politics. For many years, conservatives have been a proponent of States Rights. Supposedly, that's the reason George Wallace stood in the door of the school house, not to keep the black kids out, but to adamantly proclaim States Rights. I suspect his folly caused the final dagger in the heart of States Rights, which the left had fought to kill. I have a liberal friend on FB and the subject of the Feds shutting down States with legalized marijuana came up. You never saw so many advocates of States Rights at a redneck convention. I had to smile. Then while looking at Scalia's quotes, I saw one about the subject. Just a heads up, I imagine he was pro States Rights, but the SCOTUS had already had a decision on it (again speculation on my part). "Wringing your hands about States Rights, forget it. They're gone. Basically the federal government can do whatever it wants. Who's going to protect the States? My court? Ha, we're Feds. As with so many other things, he was right about that, although in the marijuana situation he may have voted to allow the States to sell,it. Barring a conflict with the Constitution, I think he respected the will of the people. I may be dead wrong. Hoops is more cognizant of Scalia's law opinions than me, so if you (Hoops) read this, feel free to correct any assumptions I've made.
  7. Hope springs eternal. And you could give Hoops some pointers
  8. Out of likes but I liked this one lol.
  9. Thanks, our Dist plays its last game on Tuesday, 2/13, so we have a week (or 6 days) prior to Playoffs, and usually get a warmup game in. After looking, I think most everyone does. Maybe it's the # of games limit, or Coach just wants to rest his team. It was a nice thought though.
  10. Usually get a warmup game before playoffs. Silsbee vs PAM would be a great one.
  11. I think that's what most will do, depending on the weather, move games to Wednesday. Thanks for the info.
  12. I'd feel remiss if I didn't include a clip from Cool Hand Luke. A movie with a bunch of great lines, including, Sometimes nothing is a real cool hand. And a phrase my kids were all to familiar with growing up, Spend the night in the box.
  13. D. Big Sandy always has a very good team, but this year they're not a great team as they sometimes are. To many good teams in Reg III. They'll should get 3 games deep, but I don't see them in SC. Silsbee, based on what they've done so far, I'd put them in. EC, very impressive win over Kountze, so maybe. If polls mean anything (and info I got from an ex-poster) PAM has a realistic shot. Be great if all four made it, but even two would be nice. Good luck to all.
  14. Only half of the people are concerned about this. Traveling is the problem. If our game tomorrow was in Evadale, I wouldn't give it much thot, but alas, it's in Hull Daisetta, which is a hike, on mostly twisting, turning, two lane roads (unless we go down to 105, and Heaven knows there are enough wrecks on it in sunny, dry, daylight lol). Here's hoping the local school districts will address this today, as they've done for soccer (see ST413's post above). I'm more concerned for the kids. I can stay home if it's to dangerous, but those kids, many in a raggedy-a$$ bus, will do what the Coaches say.
  15. Haven't been in a while, but use to get the Thibodeaux Special. That's a char-grilled ribeye with etouffee on top. Makes my mouth water just posting this.
  16. Due to possible frozen precipitation Tuesday evening, do y'all think games may be switched to Monday, or earlier on Tuesday? Not something we confront often, so I'm interested in what y'all think.
  17. A blonde called her boyfriend and said, Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure it out or how to get it started. The boyfriend ask, What's it suppose to be when it's finished? The blonde replied, According to the picture on the box, it's suppose to be a tiger. Boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She let him in and showed him where she had the puzzle spread out all over the table. He studied the pieces for a moment and then looked at the box, then turned to her and said, First of all, no matter what we do we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger. Secondly, I want you to relax...Let's have a nice cup of hot chocolate, and then......he sighed......Lets put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.
  18. Chippy not being recognized or addressed, is the thing I wonder about the most. I've seen good refs stop it quick, and it needs to be. Heaven forbid you allow what has gone on in a game or two around here. Jmo
  19. No baddog, they won't get the scene, and they won't get the movie. Players in the NFL think they're big and bad, but most of them wouldn't hold a candle to those guys who stormed Omaha beach. They don't have the courage or guts for it, and sacrifice for love of country is not happening. Sadly today, few would understand what it means.
  20. Since I'm not a highly intelligent guy, my only comment is why two people I think are very intelligent have been up all night bantering back and forth. Both of you get an F on healthy sleeping habits, and an A on insomnia. Okay gentlemen, you may resume.
  21. And yet another war movie, but, like Hopkins above, you knew G.C.Scott was winning the AA. A very powerful opening for Patton. Several more come to mind, but I'll relinquish the stage for others. Kudos Hoops - great idea for a thread.
  22. Ok, I'm a big wuss, but I get tears in my eyes during this scene. You know what though, I feel sorry for those that don't.
  23. So you're not a believer. Alright, I can understand. But I can't understand all this.
  24. Congrats Hawks. Good win against a good opponent.
  25. What? Only one? I know all refs are trying to be good. And most don't show partiality, but geez, it drives me nuts when they're A: incompetent, or BthruZ partial to one team.
