  1. Wonder how many folks are going to be at work today, thinking about nothing but this ball game? Heck, productivity is almost assuredly down all over Texas every Friday during football season. Ok, I can't pick winners (except Evadale), so I'll pick a score. Vidor 34 Ned 28. Great game and no injuries to these young men.
  2. I agree on the QB. Like a buddy told me, if you have two QB's, you don't have any. Took me a second (I'm old and senile), but I finally realized what he was saying. Good luck to both teams. Imo, this is going to be a great game.
  3. Any of you remember when Coach Etheridge was there in the 70's? They were called The University of PNG back then (at least around here). I use to follow them some. It was nice to hear Cherokee when you weren't scoring on Vidor. Ironically, Vidor gave y'all fits back then. PNG would win, but there were some very close games. I think Coach Etheridge went to Round Rock (?), but never had the success he had at PNG.
  4. Just barely rising into any classification has to be a nightmare, and 22-5A has three, Livingston, Lumberton, and Ozen. Especially if you weren't successful at the lower level (GCM). I guess the reason they don't have D1 & D2 districts in 5A and 6A is travel restrictions? Don't remember hearing why. I know Evadale has to travel a lot in District, and Iola really puts some miles on (over 3hrs to Sabine Pass).
  5. Getting stuck playing the North Shore's of the world, That'll mess with most folks won/loss record lol. Hey, PAM paid their dues. Now they're promoted to Boss. And the irony is, you may have a better team this year than when y'all were in 6A.
  6. Probably a combination of both. Looks like PAM is going to win so much, you gonna get bored.
  7. Them Trojans just keep on winning. Lol, and some folks don't think coaching makes that much difference And NS didn't blowout Sterling. 29-0 ain't bad, but I would've expected it to be bigger.
  8. Yep. Might be the best mule ever, but he'll never win the Kentucky Derby.
  9. Ok. Didn't see 8th grade game, but either HH really good or we really bad. HH wins 44-0 JV - Evadale wins 12-0. Beam me back to Evadale Scotty.
  10. I call it Tradition! Imo, teams that are perennial winners have that edge going for them. Ned, PNG, WOS, they all have it. Vidor will have to hump their backs and say, Not tonight, because Ned always says that.
  11. Evadale 8th and JV playing in Hemphill at 5 & 6:30. Hemphill is not a place Verizon wants to do a, "Can you hear me now" commercial. I'll report scores when I start heading back, or maybe someone with AT&T will report. Go Rebels.
  12. That would bring about the dreaded Server Crash not to mention poor MBG falling (flying?) off the wagon.
  13. I'm sure PAM is going to share a lot of hiney whipping with their neighbors, and the rest of 22-5A lol. They've paid their dues being the little guy in 6A. Now they're a small 4A bigger than everyone else in 5A. Payback time. They'll have DC cinched by game 11, so they'll play their JV (against Vidor lol).
  14. Sad stuff. [Hidden Content]
  15. Interesting post.
  16. Imo, they're doing a much improved job of local recruiting than they use to. Hope they get even better with it. I'm 99% sure it would boost attendance.
  17. Interesting post. Can't imagine why you would think Nederland is the underdog. Sure hope the Pirates don't think that. Ned has won 5 or 6 straight DC. Has two losses. One to WOS, possibly the best team on this Forum from 5A down. Then to Dayton by 1 point, who, like Ned, has a great winning tradition. They put a severe whipping on Livingston, who just defeated Ltown. And finally, Ned has beaten Vidor about 9 out of every 10 times they've played (or worse). I've never doubted this Nederland team. I may hurrah them a little, and I picked Vidor to win for old times sake, but if there was a million dollars on the line, I'd pick Ned, for all the above reasons. It's the smart play. All that said, Go Pirates, you can beat the Bulldogs, but it won't be easy.
  18. As a fellow vet, I respect your opinion. We may not always agree 100% (neither do me and my wife of 48 years), but we all look at the world from different glasses, and those glasses change as we go through our own life experiences. As I've said before, to my knowledge, our standing for the National Anthem was the only thing we, all Americans, did together - white, black, brown, Dem, Repub. So thru my eyes, my glasses, I find it sad. But hey, the sun will come up tomorrow, and I'll get in that foxhole with ya. But at my age, if you decide we need to charge, make sure it's downhill.
  19. XX Man, truer words were never spoken.
  20. I'm not surprised. But I am elated. There's still a few folks who have respect for this country. [Hidden Content]
  21. Did the Lions get out of the Slot T?
  22. Do you really want the Bulldogs to play like "it's just another game". I doubt Coach Neumann is looking at it that way. He wants to win District, and could possibly have one loss already. Right now, PNG and MCM, are the furthest things from his mind. He's concentrating on the Vidor Pirates, and Coach Matthews is concentrating on the Nederland Bulldogs. Just another game? I don't think so.
  23. Congratulations to Jack, his family, and to Lamar. Imo, quite a catch.
