As I remember from our last discussion, Texas is losing 17% per year to the Feds. And the older white males, most of which are not wealthy (hard to accumulate much when you keep hitting Boardwalk), have been in the military. We may not be able to charge up San Juan Hill, but we know about fields of fire & camouflage, and you wouldn't believe what they taught us about VC booby traps (ingenious bunch of dudes).

A friend of mine just got back from a business trip to Dallas. On the floor where the meetings were held, the ladies bathrooms were out of order, so they made the men's unisex. He's at a urinal, and a women walks in heading to a stall. He found it very disconcerting. At first, I just smh, then I got to thinking, what if - she walks in and says, Give ma all your money, or I scream rape. What if - a nice lady walks in and a pervert is at the urinal waiting, and he turns and exposes himself to her. To far fetched? I stopped ar a rest area outside of El Paso about 20 years ago, and the divider on the stall next to the urinal had a hole cut in it, about waist high. I won't explain why. If you don't know, you've lived a sheltered life. Surely y'all have seen little adjustable mirrors on a foot long handle. Unisex bathroom with 3 stalls. Pervert sets in middle stall with his mirror. I agree. Until recently, I'd only thought of Texas seceding. Some recent reading has convinced me Oklahoma would for sure. Probably, Montana, and Wyoming. Maybe, Utah and the Dakotas. Not sure if that would help or hurt. Would Texas alone have a better chance of doing it and avoiding conflict? Don't know. If it meant conflict, as PN-G Bamatex pointed out (welcome back btw) in our last thread (the best post I've ever seen on how/why it could be done), one out of nine in the US military is from Tx. I'd think at min, 90% of them would come back for Texas. IMO, since the US currently doesn't have the stomach for fighting our enemies, it's hard to believe they'd attack Texas. Also, with Texas out, the Dems win every election easily. On the other hand, many resent us, for our States success, which makes it iffy. As Baddog pointed out, regardless of armed conflict, those retired on Medicare & SS, would suffer initially, but I for one, am willing to do that for my children and grandchildren (should still get SS, since many elderly live outside the US and still receive it). Do I think we will? No, because currently, not enough are willing to sacrifice at all. By the time they are, it'll probably be to late. Now days, Valley Forge would be a lonely place. Should we? No doubt in my mind. Anyone that doubts the US is becoming a Socialist/Globalist country, is not paying attention to our current Government. And anyone that doubts that Socialism is a form of slavery, hasn't thought it through. It d-mn sure isn't freedom.

new tobie, I'll try and explain this from the rights perspective. You may not agree, but I think you'll see why so many on the right are tired of media bias (which is what this thread is about). In the Katrina/NO disaster, you had two elected Govt people, both Democrats, who could have prevented the high death toll, Mayor Nagin, and Gov Blanco. Keep in mind that the hurricane was predicted to hit NO. Both were aware of potential levee problems. They did very, very, little. Even after it hit, Gov Blanco was slow to react. All this death and destruction, and who got the majority of the blame in the media? Bush. This disaster, which, since it covers such a broad area, will affect a comparable number of people, has only one primary Govt official, Gov Edwards (Dem). Although he has seemed to respond well (he gets 4 Pinocchio's for defending Obama & Hillary's no show) has to be overwhelmed. What would Hillary & Obama being there do? I'll quote to you what Gov Edwards said after Trump and Pence where there, "it helped to shine a spotlight on Louisiana and on the dire situation that we have here... It was helpful. Now how much more helpful would the appearance of the President, and Hillary have been to increase awareness across the country of the "dire situation"? Has the media pointed this out? If an old, slightly educated person like myself knows this, the media knows it. But will any blame the President, or chastised Hillary? Simple answer, NO.

Fact is, as you well know, the resources were there, just not available. And, the saddest part of all, the Government has spoon fed these folks so long, many no longer have the ability/initiative/gumption to save themselves. Welcome to the Socialism Train, and more getting on board everyday. And thanks to Medicare and the Govt potential for abusing Social Security, many are getting forced on.

As posted earlier, MaxPreps only shows 33 players this year. Last year they had 50+ listed. Seems like I remember, right before the Vidor game, their coach had been accused of illegal recruiting.
