  1. Didn't know you were a Houstonian. I was born in Vidor, and lived there 65 years. When I was little, I once ask my dad, why don't you join the KKK? He said if he wanted to whip someone's a$$, he didn't want his face covered. He wanted them to know who was doing it. He had worked himself into a foreman job, and when the bosses had to layoff people, he had to tell them. Though it happened often, as work came & went, the only time he was upset enough he said something at home, was when he had to tell this one particular black man (not Mr. Simpson). So let me tell you an accurate account of Bill Simpson to the best of my knowledge, as fairly as I can. First, Vidor was known as "bloody Vidor", not for racial reasons, but for the white on white killings, mostly in the bars right outside of town before the precinct was voted "dry" & alcohol could no longer be sold. Second, the last Klan I saw in Vidor was about 1972, when outsiders came in to recruit. You'll like this story. My son and I passed them & and my son ask, who is that Daddy, as they had their ceremonial outfits on. I said, that's the Ku Klux Klan. He said excitedly, the Ku Klux Clowns. I literally lol. Now, I don't doubt Mr. Simpson received anonymous threats. At that time, pay phones and mail, offered Anyone, from Anywhere, the opportunity to do that, much like the Internet does now. I also doubt they were all from Vidorians. One big problem he had in Vidor, no car, and no public transportation. He was partially crippled, so he couldn't get around good, and unlike Beaumont where you had buses, taxis, and small stores in most neighborhoods, there weren't any close to that project at the time. No movies to see, not much at all to do. I don't know if he drank, but if so, then, he'd have to go about 3 miles to get alcohol. That said, those two circumstances would even make a crippled white person not want to live there if no car. The sad thing, he may have been afraid to live in Vidor, but Nothing physical happened to him there. His first day back in Beaumont, he was gunned down in the streets by a black thug. Had he stayed in Vidor, he'd probably died of old age, or boredom. I understand him wanting to move back to Beaumont, threats or no threats. But in the end, which place was safer for him?
  2. I'd bet you'd be safer in Vidor or Lumberton on a Saturday night than I'd be walking down Irving street on that same night.
  3. AMEN!
  4. Chachi, compared to the list PhatMack posted? That's a no-brainer. Mother of Dragons? No. Mothers of Criminals.
  5. Yea. Would've been better if they'd let me, Nash, baddog, 77, Lumberton Raider Fan, and BS Wildcats speak.
  6. I'm still trying to figure out how she got Tx Hoops out of TVC.
  7. That's something most of us will agree on lol
  8. [Hidden Content] Pam, this is a recent example of how he fans the flames of hate between police & blacks. He's right, police could do better, but until robots take over as police, they'll never be perfect. The point is, why doesn't he address all of us about being compliant with the police? That one thing has resulted in most, if not all, of the deaths of these black men, and the hatred toward the police. To me, the most ironic thing about all this, the vast majority of black men protesting would have done the same thing as the police did if they where in the identical situation.
  9. I'd say 90% intentional, 10% senior moment. But I never trust them. And Ginsburg is as anti-Constitution as it gets.
  10. I hope LBJ is happy. This is the culmination of The Great Society.
  11. Add my prayers to the others for the officers and their families.
  12. My sincerest thanks guys. I will tell you one thing. The funeral home was SRO, and had more "men" in there than any place I've been in in a while. Corn fed country boys. Kenny would have been proud.
  13. Sad day my friends. Going to a funeral for a man, Kenny Keen, who graduated from Vidor in 1987 with my son. They both played tackle on Def, and guard & tackle side by side on offense. He spent many hours in our home. In one of those "small world" scenarios, both were in the Marines, but not stationed together. My son's unit was one of the first flown to Saudi a few days after Iraq invaded Kuwait. Very few arrived ahead of him. But when he disembarked the plane, who did he see on the Tarmac, yep, Kenny was there. Them two Pirates, who'd played side by side, bear hugged each other. This old man will have tears in his eyes today.
  14. Sincere Prayers for you to find donor.
  15. Oh, forgot to mention, has a great quote by Winston Churchill, that somewhat mirrors the analogy I use about the wildabeest. Of course Curchill does it better (imagine that lol).
  16. [Hidden Content] imo great editorial, but I'm conservative.
  17. I heard Hillary say she's going to continue the "great" job Obama has done. He's brought plenty over, so..... Even worse, from my right wing perch, some Republicans advocate it. I don't, because I know it'll create many more innocent deaths for non-Muslims and Muslims alike.
  18. I understand what you're saying Hoops, but it's not just the Dems that post here that bring up Trump's bankruptcies, Hillary has to. And that's what boggles my mind. As you know by the post of many of us on the right (see Englebert above), most of us don't see Trump as a great candidate (insert understatement here). That said, why isn't the left going full court press on his many glaring political weaknesses?
  19. [Hidden Content] We know the ultra left is after the 2nd Amendment. Now a city in California is going after the Forth. This is scary, and I suspect Democrats on the left who don't adhere to the radical leftists agenda, will be concerned.
  20. Out of likes, but I do.
  21. Bringing them over here and not being concerned about it, fits my liberal/wildebeest analogy. So they kill a few thousand of us. As long as it's not them, or their loved ones, no big deal. As long as they get across the river, let the crocs eat.
  22. Phil at -10. Wonder if the old man can hang on.
  23. Lol, And excluded me! Nash is one of those disgusting people that would probably walk 18 holes. My theory is, the golf cart was invented before golf.
  24. [Hidden Content] Oh yes Washington, bring more over.
