Well, one of the few things I remember from the excellent education offered to me (which, like a bad sponge, I absorbed very little) was the words, cause and effect. When something out of the ordinary happens, I wonder what caused it. That said, I've wondered how Nederland has beaten PNG for six straight years in football (think that number is correct). Then I see this thread. Aha, maybe some insight. Alas, I can't find any correlation between the link and the losses. PS: Bobcat1, no need to move this topic to the Football thread

No defense for the teacher. Totally out of line. What's ironic (again from an old timer), in my day had I had a choice of what she did here, or getting whacks from our 6'5" Principal, she could have slapped the back of my head a while. Even worse would be what would have happened at home when my parents found out what I did to incur that teachers wrath. I'm going to take this opportunity to relate again a news story (60 Min I think) I saw quite a few years back. It was about schools on Military bases outperforming public schools. The conclusion/reason they came to was the stricter discipline at the Military schools. JMO but I think if we could return discipline to the classrooms, all the children would benefit and you'd never see an unacceptable rating at any of our schools. Unfortunately, to many parents, PC Police, and society, isn't going to go for it.

Beckville that good C86, or did the long ride take its toll?

It's true bdog, I couldn't tell you my neighbors names.

There's a bunch about it to miss, not the least was just the ability as children to go outside and play in safety, day or night. And the pics of the Empire State Bldg, is like a summation.

I know there are pluses & minuses in "the good old days", and now, but some of you may enjoy this. Since I was running around barefoot during the old date, it was a reaffirmation of my old memories - from my perspective. [Hidden Content]

Someone tell me again why they don't go to Saudi, Egypt, or Libya?

I'm sorry PM19, this is R rated. I saw it today. Unbelievable. I felt sorry for him. I don't know how he did it.

It's on ESPN. I think it started at 2pm. Yes, Augusta National is a little piece of heaven. I'd love to just drop a ball on each green and putt it out. Doubt if I could par the course like that lol.

Jordan Spieth finished -6. No bogeys!

Cost aside, it's evident (especially since I've got on Medicare) that Doctors dislike the red tape associated with Govt sponsored health care. Our family Dr. Of 35 years does not do most Medicare patients. Nor does my wife's Gynecologist. I'm fairly certain that Obamacare is the biggest reason the article anticipates a shortage of 1,000,000 Dr's in ten years. On the plus side, at some point the cost for Ins should level off since you won't be able to find a Dr. to see you. As LFR pointed out earlier, the Congress should have never passed Obamacare.

Your right. Maybe a few better singers, or songwriters, but can't think of anyone that did both so well, so many times Something a lot of people don't know is that although he sang in the nasel, country style, I once seen a show where he sang a Marty Robins song (who IMO had a Great voice), and Merle duplicated it to perfection.
-
Ty, I quoted a line of that song recently to describe the state of our country, "Are we rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell". Thought it was appropriate.

Saw him in an interview quite a few years back. As you probably know, he wrote most of his songs. When asked what his favorite was he replied, "Today I Started Loving You Again", it's the best I'll ever write."

Has Lumberton started the search for a replacement yet? If so, does anyone know who all has applied? Having seen the Lady Raiders this year, I'd think they'll be a force once again. Bunch of young, good, ball players.

Merle Haggard one of the legends of Country Music died today on his 79 birthday. Spent quiet a few hours and drink quiet a few beers listening to him. [Hidden Content]

I think had it been just Trump vs Cruz the whole time, Cruz would've been a lock.

The only thing our Govt ever run right was the military, and the Liberals are destroying it. If they took over Wal Mart, they'd have to file bankruptcy a year later.
-
And that should be evident to anyone. Amazing that so many don't get it. The Kumbaya bunch. Lord, give me strength.

Their leader, Ful oh Dung, is goofy as a road lizard. He scares me.

I dreaded reading this link. I knew it would be something stupid. How. Wrong I was! Stupid doesn't cover it. I'm pretty sure all the homes in Evadale have sidewalks. We refer to them as "shoulder of the road". Where are my freaking rolaids?

What a Fantastic Game. Hated to see either team lose.

Just the way I see the hand playing out on taxation bd. We pay taxes to a Govt run by the RNC & DNC, yet we all don't elect them as such. To me, it's like we have two Kings. Maybe I'm just cynical in my old age, but politics and politicians aren't what they use to be.

Hey 77, that's as good of a scenario as any. One thing you said, "Repubs are ok with a Dem president" - if they aren't, they sure act like it, don't they? I'm reminded of the old Merle Haggard song, "Are we rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell".
