That would be a shame if he was deprived of salvation, but IMO God will make that decision, not any man. No need for rebuttal, but know that ever Sunday in church I pray that all who profess to follow Jesus will become better Christians. Just what I'd love to see our country full of, good Christians. I think you'd be hard pressed to find any politicians who couldn't be labeled a liar, either thru outright lies, slip of the tongue, mental lapse, etc. I'd certainly not expect Cruz to lie as much as our current president does, at least from my perspective.
