I was not basing this off of stats what so ever. I totally understand that Cooper plays both ways and is on the field more than Barlow is. That takes a toll on a player for sure. I am done comparing the two. I just watched Coopers hudl and he is very good and looks to have D1 talent for sure! Is it because his size that he's not getting the recognition that he should? I see that he doesn't have great height and weight that most colleges look for at the RB position. If that's the case, then i feel bad for him because he can definitely play with the top RB's in the state. Barlow has the size being that he's 6'0" and 200lbs. Cooper is listed at 5'9" and 178lbs on his hudl, so i am sure that hurts him.

Cooper is a great player and a very good running back. He simply isn't on the level that Barlow is on. If he were, he would at least have some offers coming in and I truly hope that he does soon. I am definitely rooting for the kid. But, Barlow is a true college type running back; from his unbelievable size already, his speed, vision and his overall play at the RB position. That is why he holds offers from SEC, Big12, ACC, Big10 and Pac12 schools. Sometimes guys are just better than others and there is nothing to be ashamed of there. I'm sure WOS has plenty of guys in certain positions that are better than Newton's. It's just not the RB position this year and everyone know's that if they're being real. You know football, so put the pride aside. It's not a big deal. Both guys are dang good players.

I understand the Cooper kid is a good running back and a difference maker for the Mustangs, but he is not as good as Darwin Barlow. That is your pride getting in the way of being realistic. He is definitely good, but not on the same level and everyone know's that. I believe this will be a good game. WOS lost one game by 1 point to a good 5A team and everyone thinks they're horrible. That is not the case and they will make a good run this season. They have competed for a state title four years in a row and counting, so that speaks volumes and no other team in the state can say they have done so. I have much respect for WOS. I do have Newton winning this game this year, but each team will give each other all they want.

You’re living in the past. Newton is completely different from when BC was on the schedule the past 4 years or so. I agree with you, Newton did break under pressure. Newton was one dimensional, had players in wrong positions and then would only run two players the entire night. The play calling limited them so much and they were beat by lower teams for that reason. Now, they have a top notch OC that opens the playbook and gives the ball to every athlete on the field. It also helps that they have a completely stacked team as well. Silsbee has great athletes and it still looked like men against boys. I don’t see them breaking at all this season. Not to Gilmer nor WOS. Way too good this season and I give most of the praise to the new OC. I don’t think Newton wins state last season if the didn’t have him. Probably gets knocked out to a disciplined team that can stop scat left and scat right.

Newton players receiving FBS offers
Fast Turtle replied to dBerrySports's topic in High School Football
All three underclassmen that currently have D1 offers will have over 20 offers by the time they're finished. There are two more juniors that will be receiving D1 offers here in the off-season. These players are just now getting started and have a lot more to show with more years of high school ball left. -
I live in Houston and won't get off in time to make it to Lufkin. Therefore, i figured i would go check out the Mustangs.

When you guys see me with a purple Newton Eagle's shirt on, please welcome me. I'm rooting for you guys. I just don't own a WOS shirt, otherwise, i may consider wearing it. Then again, i'd probably leave the purple on. Let's both be playing at the same stadium in two weeks!!!

Enterprise Top 10 Rankings: Week 9
Fast Turtle replied to DannyShapiroBE's topic in High School Football
I'm not saying that i don't agree with it anymore. I am just saying that all 6 of them better be 4 star athletes and have big offers rolling in. If they are better, then they will be seen and do great things. I am glad to hear they have some future guys that i can watch on Saturdays. -

I totally understand where you're coming from, CardinalBacker. But, i do not have my priorities "out-of-whack". If a kid is good enough and is getting real attention and big time offers for football, then they would care about it. I am all about education and getting your degree. Whether it is playing football or not, i want all kids to go to college. If you're good enough to earn a full ride scholarship from a division 1 school, then not many people will pass that up and just decide not to play football. I believe all kids prioritize playing football at the next level, but some kids let reality sink in and know that it's just not for them. If you have the talent and size for the next level, then why not chase it? -

Did i say that he was better than anyone at West Brook? I simply said that there will not be 6 players that is better. Hell, there could be a few better, but there won't be 6 in total. Our guy did pretty good one on one with Barns from Silsbee this year. I am not saying the Newton kid is all that, but he is damn good player that will have 20+ offers. You're the one that is doing all of this. Don't down grade the kids. You should be uplifting for any high school did from our area that is going to play college ball. If there were division 1 kids coming out of Bridge City, then i would be rooting for them on Saturday's just as i would kids from Newton. -
Enterprise Top 10 Rankings: Week 9
Fast Turtle replied to DannyShapiroBE's topic in High School Football
Yes. I went to West Brooks first game of the year when they barely edged out a win against a mediocre Beaumont Central team that went on to have a losing record. West Brook got better throughout the year though. They have good players. -

I understand. I do not think Newton will beat West Brook, but with this years team, it definitely would be close. I was just stating that WB does not have 6 players better than Newton's best. I understand that they're bigger and have great athletes, but Newton has plenty that would start for WB. I do agree with you on the local rankings being a joke. I never said that Newton should be better than than anyone just because they have a "4 star" recruit. No, i do not think Newton would beat West Brook. I was just stating the simple fact that West Brook does not have 6 players better than Newton's best. But, you do not have to down the kids that go play college ball like you just did. That was really uncalled for. For your information, the QB from 2015 started the first game against UCLA and is currently second string and just playing on special teams. He still has two more seasons after this, so his time will come. Newton actually called PNG and PAM to play next year and they declined, but WOS and Carthage will be on the schedule. At least Newton tries to play top tier teams. -

Newton's Tamazia Brown: Junior. 4 star. Oklahoma State offer before junior season even starts. 9 INT's this season thus far. Your statement = VERY DEBATABLE. -

So, West Brook has 6 players that is better than Newton's Tamazia Brown?? He is a 4 star defensive back / receiver that received an offer from Oklahoma State before his junior year even started this year. Oh, he also has 9 interceptions this season which is probably leading the state in all classifications if i had to guess. Now, i will sit here and wait for you to list 6 players that are better. Your statement was bold and out of reach, BMT Soulja1. BUt, i still want you to list them. I am very curious. -
EC's worse played game wasn't against Newton? The score was 60-17!
-
Ehhh! Not so much of a great match up this season.

Bridge City vs Bay City 2nd Round
Fast Turtle replied to CardinalBacker's topic in High School Football
I'm definitely rooting for Bridge City, but you just stated a bold statement. I think Bridge City can possibly pull this game off, but i do think it would definitely end that following week. They are a good team, but not near a state championship team. You have to face reality at some point. -

Good luck to Bridge City. I am probably the only one, but you have a Newton fan rooting for you. I hope you guys pull it off. -
#10 Woodville (9-1) vs Anahuac (4-6)
Fast Turtle replied to eagleswoodville#1's topic in High School Football
Well, Newton did score 43 of those points on Corrigan-Camden in the first half and did not score again. They didn't want to score again out of respect. It would have been 100-0 if that were the case. None of this matters though. Woodville has done great things and i am excited to see what they're doing. But, the point margin does not matter when you take into consideration of Newton pulling their dogs off before blowing teams out. I'm sure Woodville did that as well too. Don't knock Newton just because your Wildcats aren't playing up to your expectations. I root for you guys as well, but score a touchdown on Newton next season and come talk. -
#10 Woodville (9-1) vs Anahuac (4-6)
Fast Turtle replied to eagleswoodville#1's topic in High School Football
I'm really happy to see Woodville playing this kind of ball. I have been rooting for them all season and i hope to see them upset a lot of teams in the playoffs. But, Newton shouldn't be in this conversation. Newton would win this game convincingly being that they're really, really good this year. Good luck, Woodville. Go win six more games and hopefully join Newton in Arlington.
