None of that is the point here.. If a coach had a 6-51 career record and applied for the boys job, does he even get an interview? I'm certain in saying no, he wouldn't. If you're going to talk about a coach with limited experience, KJ has 2 years coaching the girls at Chilton, where his stepfather is the Sup. That's limited experience as well with none of that experience being successful. Connell has 1 year under his belt coaching these girls already. He's been around and helping them out while also being on the bench for the boys games. Yes, if things don't work out Buna can simply move on, but Connell will have almost certainly moved on by then. Why would he come back to a place that didn't hire him, but instead hired a coach who Buna knows nothing about with the exception of him being unsuccessful at his last coaching job?

Once the minutes are posted I am going to check to see how that vote went down.

I agree except for maybe the small town politics part. I think if you took a poll the vast majority of people would say they wanted Connell as the coach. Unless you mean that 2 people got together and decided "this is the guy" and didn't consider anything else? Which I think is probably what happened here.

I get what you're saying. Maybe he will be great. I personally hope he is, but I have serious doubts. I believe his career coaching record is 6-51. How does an AD choose that over someone who has been with the program for a year already? Also, what kind of message does that send Connell that the AD was willing to hire someone with a 6-51 record instead of him? Now another good coach will leave Buna for a guy who has basically proven that he is a great person, but a below average basketball coach.

I think the biggest mistake here is Kirbyville having anyone on the 1st team. No offense to the kid that made 1st team, but they were just a bad basketball team along with Warren and Hardin. On the superlatives its all subjective. However, the district champion having zero superlative awards is really strange.

I'm hoping the last game was just an outlier for the Lady Hawks, and they come out ready to play and jump out ahead of La Vega early.

Yes, the girls only had 3 seniors. All started. They'll return Reese Sherman though. That's enough to get them back to the playoffs.

Buna plays fairly well on the inside too. If big Isaiah Robinson gets position on you its a bucket. Franklin Renfro can rebound it well too. Saying that I'm with you. Buna by 8.

What school board members? I do know that there was a large turnover on the Buna school board at the last election. Of course, that would not have helped Whitmire since he left before then.

Coach Wilson has been fantastic. I'd argue that Wilson is a BETTER coach than Whitmire, and that's no slight to Whitmire at all. He's a really good coach. If Buna misses the playoffs this season, it'll have everything to do with how tough the district has been this season.

I haven't watched the video yet, but what I can tell you is when my daughter's team played at PNG, they were allowed to say some of the nastiest things I've ever heard to her team. No one said a word, not the administrators, home team fans, or officials. Everyone heard it. Most laughed. Then, once the PNG girls realized they were going to lose, the shoves in the back and fouls going for the kid and not the ball began to happen. 3 intentional fouls in the last 4 minutes or so of the game. the coach didn't bother to pull or even talk to any of the girls committing the intentional fouls. That being said, may point is nothing that happens at a PNG basketball game surprises me. Worst basketball fans in southeast Texas bar none.

Warren gets in with a win over Hardin. OF can get in with a Warren loss and an OF win over Anahuac. Warren holds the tiebreaker with OF. Anahuac can get in with a win over OF and a Warren loss. Anahuac holds the tiebreaker with Warren.

I think OF and Buna both are better than everyone in this region 3 top 10 with the exception of Franklin. Just one guy's opinion though.
