There is some truth to this.......but, we have taken more shots down field this year than last. Actually, way more, and had been quite successful until the Carthage game. Their DB's had the deep ball covered all night. We earned every yard we got that night. And no, this wasn't an upset. Not in the least. I actually picked Carthage in my pickem sheet on the other sight. They were definitely the better team.

Unfortunately, it didn't help Navasota get in the win column.

Defense has to improve.......but I think we had 3 lost fumbles and 2 picks. Too many mistakes and we still scored 37. What I liked the most was we never quit. Sometimes when you get bad behind you find out a lot about your team. The character was there and I like to see that. See how the kids act when things don't go there way. We lost a game to a very good football team tonight, but we lost with integrity and we never quit. Chances are it is going to happen again next week. After that, I will take my chances with this group. They will be very battle tested.

Carthage has to be the favorite. If I was a betting man .......... and I am.........I would be taking Carthage and giving the points. But since I'm also a fan, I'll be there pulling for my Buckeyes. If we lose, it won't be the beat all end all, but we will find out a lot about our team tonight.

He has two advantages over last year's qb. He can move the pocket and is dangerous on the run, but most importantly, we can throw the ball down the field. That was just not the case last year.

What's funny is last year's game everyone thought would be a shootout. It turned into a defensive slobber knocker with big hits from both side. Luckily we came out on top17-14. Both fan bases want to win, both schools want to win........but in the end both coaches will be careful not to ruin a season for the good of one game, that in the end doesn't mean very much. It will be fun, it will be exciting, it will be what Texas High School football is all about. It just won't have anything to do with a trophy that both teams strive for.

Personally, I don't thing WOS will be challenged until the semis or the finals if even then. I know it's a long way to the end, but that's a talented group they have down there. And we will all be able to see if it happens...........but who wouldnt love to see 4a's best defense go against one of 4a's most prolific offenses. A game for the ages...........but that's a ways off. We shall see.
