  1. Yea I wanted the mods to have a chance to give their input. I didnt want you guys to feel like I was making all the decisions.....
  2. OK guys me and Coop figured this would be a good way for us to decide the game of the week each week during the football season. Each week I'll take the top games for that week and put up a game of the week poll for you guys to vote on. After we get all of the results in on Friday nights I'll post game of the week candidates for the following week. The weekly schedule will be posted every sunday night so we will have all day saturday and sunday to vote before the new schedule goes up. Let us know if you guys like this method or not.......
  3. I can't wait either! These guys do an awesome job each and every year!!
  4. Gabriel Pruett The Orange Leader Football Section Football fans are in for a treat Aug. 30 when the Orange Leader presents its special football section. The sports staffers along with several other staffers have put in many hours already making this edition quite possibly the best section ever. From information to pictures, The Orange Leader will get readers more prepared for local football than any other media around. A special thanks to all football coaches for taking time away from practice and any other work to answer our questions and give the best information around so our readers can be well informed. The cover design with Dan Hooks of West Orange-Stark and Wade Phillips of the Dallas Cowboys looks great and it was all done by Jason Rollinson. Kudos to him for his hardwork. So get ready football geeks, we are putting the finishing touches on it all and it will be out before you know it.

  7. I was there and I was amazed at how much Jasper has improved in just a few months under Brooks. The difference between last year's Jasper team and the Jasper team I saw last night was night and day. The Dawgs are definately back......

  10. 2003 Area Round Orangefield vs La Grange Game was tied at 14 and we drove all the way down to about the 10 yard line. So we have a 1st down with about 2:00 left. Common sense says run the ball and if you dont get in then kick the field goal. Well, we try a pass that gets picked off and La Grange's first play after that they get a long run all the way down around the 15 and end up kicking the game winner. We lost 17-14. Would have been our first time to make it to the 3rd round in school history >
  11. None on Friday. The schedule that was sent to me shows Dayton having just one scrimmage on Friday the 24th at home against Angleton at 5pm
  12. I e-mailed coach Stump about that and he confirmed at BC. I know the Orange Leader had printed BC at Anahuac so I checked with Stump. LCM is also at BC the following week

  14. Ok here's how the game works. Someone posts a question about the upcoming season and whoever answers "buy or sell" posts a question of their own. Lets see how long we can keep this going!! I'll start it off....... Buy or Sell: East Chambers will go 10-0 regular season again this year?
  15. Young Cardinals growing with Stump's philosophy Van Wade The Orange Leader BRIDGE CITY — Everything is pretty much new in ‘Cardinal Country†these days. First-year Bridge City Athletic Director and head football coach Cris Stump likes what he sees in a hungry young Cardinal team. The Cardinals return just three starters off last year’s 6-4 unit. Coach Stump is also implementing a new twist to the offense. Bridge City, which has owned a more run-oriented offense in recent years, will open up a more potent passing game. “We’ve got a tremendous amount of kids that will be hitting the varsity field for the first time and there is a lot of difference as far as playing on Thursday and Friday goes,’ Stump said at practice Tuesday. “We’re trying hard to gain some experience out here this week so we can even be considered young. I heard Orangefield coach Blake Morrison say one time that they take the kids to get a Happy Meal at McDonalds after practice. We’re young, but not quite that young.†The Cardinals got a nice look at what Coach Stump brings to the table when he arrived in early spring when he replaced former AD Claude Tarver. “Everything is still new to them,†Stump said. They saw some of the new ideas back in the spring, now it’s all about adjusting and learning the system even better.†A good reception in June and July also was a big help. “We have a lot of kids that want to succeed and achieve,†Stump said. “We had a very good turnout during the summer as far as the weightroom and running was concerned.†The Cardinals have been working out from 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and from about 10:30 a.m.-noon each day. “It’s been quite warm,†joked Stump. “But, hey, it’s August and we’re in Southeast Texas. That’s to be expected and we all have to suck it up because it’s never easy.†The first Cardinal practice went very smooth Monday. “We’re going to have a lot of kids that will be playing both ways,†Stump said. “So, we’ve been working the JV in a lot with the varsity. Like, our first practice session we’ll have the varsity offense going against the JV defense and then in the next session, we’ll flip it around. Today, we’re doing kinda the same thing but we’re also looking at our special teams today too.†The Cardinals’ first scrimmage will be Aug. 18 at Anahuac with the freshmen starting at 9 a.m. followed by the JV and varsity. Bridge City will host Little Cypress-Mauriceville in a scrimmage Aug. 23 with tentative times set for 5 p.m. beginning with the freshmen followed by the JV and varsity. The Cardinals will begin non-district play by hosting Liberty Aug. 31. Bridge City also plays Lumberton and Beaumont Kelly in non-district play before opening up the District 21-3A campaign with a road trip to Sour Lake to take on the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks.â€
