  2. Anyone have a time for the scrimmage? I'm getting two different times. I'm really looking forward to this scrimmage. I always enjoy playing huffman in any sport and I can't wait to visit that new stadium! etbu, you going to be there?
  3. thanks cat, i didn't know the coach's son was the qb, so if that's the case that means if he's not left handed he should be at SS on the diamond, right? I think he is an outfielder. Don't quote me on that though I just quoted you, so sorry. ;D :

  5. I believe Huckabay will be the starting QB. I haven't been to any practices but I liked what I saw from last weekend's intrasquad. Good test for us tomorrow with a big, strong Vidor team
  6. For some reason the kfdm videos have no sound for me. My volume on my computer is up and the volume control on the video box is up as well but still no sound ???

  8. Congrats Coach Bryant and welcome back to the area! He will do great at Evadale
  9. New times for the scrimmage in the morning as the 9th and JV will go at 8am and the varsity will go at 9am
  10. Vidor Pirates amped up in early practices Van Wade The Orange Leader VIDOR — They knocked on the playoff door last year, but the Vidor Pirates couldn’t quite enter. This year, with 18 starters back from a solid 5-4 unit, Vidor and long-time head coach Jeff Mathews looks to storm into the postseason for the first time since 2000. If the first week of practice is any indication, the Pirates want to put a nice stamp on the 2009 campaign. “I tell you, our kids have been up here getting after it the whole summer,†said Mathews. “They’ve gotten stronger and faster. The best thing has been their attitudes. They came in Monday and were so hungry and ready to get to work.†Of course, the first day of full-pad workouts start today, something that will be a big relief for Mathews and his staff. “In my 17 years in coaching, I don’t think I’ve ever had to tell kids to slow down,†said Mathews. “They’ve been out here in just t-shirts and helmets and they’re going at one another. We’re already getting guys with bruises. We’ve really had to reel them in. They can't wait for Friday.†The Pirates have two scrimmages slated. They will visit Orangefield Aug. 15 with the freshmen and JV starting at 9 a.m. followed by the varsity at10 a.m. The Pirates will host West Orange-Stark Aug. 21 with the freshmen starting at 5 p.m. followed by the junior varsity(6 p.m.) and varsity. “We like our two scrimmages,†said Mathews. “We match up with Orangefield well because we run similar base stuff, especially on offense. West Orange will be such a challenge. We meet fast teams in District 20-4A but we probably want see a faster team than West Orange. They’ve been fast over the years but this group might be their fastest ever.†Mathews feels the Pirates will be up for the 20-4A challenges. “Every game in our district is such a test,†said Mathews. “You've got to be both mentally and physically sound in all aspects of the game and we think the kids will get to that point. It’s still early but we’ve got the makings of a good team.†The Pirates open the regular season on the road at Beaumont Kelly Aug. 28.
  11. We still need the following information: Woodville/Buna time Buna/Hemphill time Burkeville's scrimmage info Chester's scrimmage info Evadale/Warren time High Island's first scrimmage info Sabine Pass's first scrimmage info
  12. Legacy's schedule has them against Sabine Pass on the 22nd?
  13. So for sure the LCM letters will be outlined in white? If so I'll get the helmet fixed
  14. Orangefield’s Derrick Evans, top right, worked on field goals, one of the many important aspects in the game. Gabriel Pruett / The Orange Leader New Orangefield coach Brian Huckabay, above, was enjoying his Bobcats’ first practice. Gabriel Pruett / The Orange Leader
  15. It's been done grad. ShlyKBMT is on top of it 8)
  16. Not trying to be a homer here but I really think OF will put up a fight for 3rd. Even though we finished 1-7 we were still very close to a playoff spot. We lost to HF in OT, lost to BC on the last play of the game and lost to HJ by 10 but gave them 14 quick points because we turned the ball over deep on our end of the field on our first 2 possessions. We were better than a 1-7 team last year and with all the positive changes happening plus a good nucleus of players back we could challenge for 3rd. The biggest game for OF in my opinion will be the district opener at home against HF.
  17. Don't know his name but heard he came from Deweyville
  18. I believe Orangefield was somewhere around 100 over the cutoff for 2A last realignment. I don't see us dropping anytime soon. I believe some of our lower grades have quite a few students in them so our numbers will increase in the years to come
  19. Ya' know. I fancied myself a pretty good guy at getting obscure but relevant facts. But next to you, I am a rank amateur! Let's just say I'm a HUGE high school football fan and I love looking at all the school websites around the state and learning about the different programs, stadiums and such. I've probably looked at every stadium on texas bob's site. Go take a look at the football stadium for the Mason Punchers. The home side is covered, looks pretty neat [Hidden Content]
