  4. Gabriel Pruett The Orange Leader BRIDGE CITY — It took everything Bridge City had yet when push came to shove, the Cardinals came out on top again. The Cardinals need a rally to defeat the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns Tuesday and a quick, very quick, save from Matt Hicks in a 10-7 win. Bridge City moved to 17-2-1 overall and 5-0 in the District 21-3A standings after the first half of play. The Cardinals hold a two-game lead over Orangefield and Hamshire-Fannett who are 3-2 in the standings read more > [Hidden Content]
  5. PN-G 23, Central 1 PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Indians have been rocking the cover off the baseball lately and Tuesday night's 23-1 victory over Central was no different. The Tribe racked up 18 hits, scoring nine runs in the second, six in the third and eight more in the fourth. Hunter Denzlinger went yard twice. The first of which was a grandslam. He also had a single. Also for the Indians, Blake Reyenga had a triple and a single, Austin Stone had four singles, Austin Sangster had two singles and Matt Woods recorded two singles. Woods was also the winning pitcher. He went four innings allowed just one run on one hit, struckout seven and walked two. The one hit and the two walks all came in the first inning, which is when Central scored its only run. Woods settled down from there and then handed the fifth inning over to Chris Sweetenham, who struckout the side in order.
  6. The Port Arthur News NEDERLAND — The Nederland Bulldogs had no problems taking apart the Lumberton Raiders on Tuesday night. Nederland strummed Lumberton to the tune of 10 runs on nine hits and that all came in five innings. Defensively, Nederland was just as sharp. Kirby Bellow went all five innings, he struckout seven and allowed just two hits and zero runs, giving the Dogs a 10-0 victory. With the win, Nederland moves to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in District 20-4A where it is in a three-way tie for first place with LC-M and PN-G. Trey Terracina went 2-for-2 on Tuesday with a double and a homer. Nick Cardenas was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and a single. Cody Laird also had two singles.
  7. PNG's last two games 48-1. Talk about a fight at the bat rack.
  8. It doesn't matter what his number was, he probably feels bad enough. It was a heated game with alot on the line and knowing the young man he wishes he had those words back so he could have contributed on the field.
  9. It was a close call. Home plate umpire made the call that Pinder ran inside the baseline going to first. I thought the call could go either way. Pinder wasn't ejected, it was a player in the lineup who got ejected. It was a great effort by both teams.
  10. Nederland school trustees choose bond architects, one alternate By GREG HAYES April, 6, 2009 The Nederland school district board of trustees chose four architectural firms and one alternate to handle the construction work under the upcoming $120.3 million bond project, should it pass in the May 9 election. Approved were Architectural Alliance of Beaumont and Houston-based firms Bay Architects, Pfluger Associates and SBWV. The alternate firm chosen was Corgan Associates, also based out of Houston. Superintendent Gail Krohn said that an alternate was chosen just in case any problems should arise between the bond passing and construction projects being given out. "The board will not decide which projects they want to present to a certain firm until after the bond passes," she said. "Anything could happen between now and then, and one of these firms may have too many projects they are working on by the time the board contacts them with ours. That is why we chose an alternate." read more > [Hidden Content]
