  3. Tiger would smoke the older guys imo, and yes i'm old guy. Jack had Player, Trevino, Caspar and Floyd but that was it, big drop off after that. VJ, Mick, Goosen and a host of about 20 guys could win today.
  4. Don't forget about Lumberton admin. They have played one less district game but their only loss was a 1-0 loss to Vidor. This team could be a spoiler in 20-4a. They have the tough part of their schedule coming up but don't be suprised if they knock off one of the big 4. Should be a 5 way tie for 1st after tommorrow. Mar. 30 Ozen* 7pm Mar. 31 @ PN-G* 7pm Apr. 3 LC-M* 7pm Apr. 7 @ Nederland* 7pm Your right, Lumberton more than likely tied for 1st at 3-1 going into PNG tues. If they sneak a win between the big 3, it would make it interesting.
  5. Wish we could get some talk here. Is BC still the best team in the area with no one leading in any hitting category? We have a 4 way tie for 1st in 4A. Would LCM beat PNG with Spikes on the mound? Does Nederland have the best staff in the area with Bellow, Dean and Laird ? Will Sims step up against a dangerous LCM lineup? Orangefield may have the best hitting team in the area.
  6. 03/27/09 5:44 PM ET Bullpen roles remain up in the air Friday's game vs. Orioles used to gauge prospects Nederland's Brian Sanches threw two scoreless innings, striking out one while giving up one hit. "I thought Sanches was real good. He filled the strike zone with all his pitches," Gonzalez said. "That was positive.
  7. The Rebel bats didn’t strike often on Friday night, but when they did it was with power as Ole Miss (16-6, 5-2 SEC) used four home runs - including a pair from freshman Matt Snyder - to power past LSU by a score of 7-4 at Alex Box Stadium. The Rebels added a sixth run in the seventh when West Brook's Tim Ferguson doubled off the wall to score Basham. The catcher singled before moving to second on a sac bunt from Henry and then scoring on the Ferguson hit to give Ole Miss a 6-1 edge.
  8. RED SOX 11, CARDINALS 8, 10 INNINGS: Josh Beckett gave up four runs and six hits in six innings, and West Brook's Chip Ambres hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning to give Boston a victory over St. Louis.
  9. Duke 3, Wake Forest 1: Duke scored two runs in the fifth inning yesterday and defeated Wake Forest in the first game of an ACC series at Jack Coombs Field in Durham The Deacons' lone run came in the seventh on Nederland's Dustin Hood's solo home run off starter Christopher Manno (2-3).
  10. Recap: Tampa Bay vs. Cincinnati By Sports Network The Sports Network Edinson Volquez hurled five innings of four-hit, one-run ball, and the Cincinnati Reds topped Tampa Bay, 5-1, in spring training action. Joey Votto and Ryan Hanigan hit solo home runs, while West Brook's Jay Bruce drove in two runs for the Reds. Jason Hammel took the hill for the Rays and tossed five scoreless frames, allowing just two hits and a walk with four strikeouts. But Jason Isringhausen was touched for two runs on three hits in the sixth on the way to the loss. Evan Longoria collected the lone RBI in defeat on a sacrifice fly. Carl Crawford and Dioner Navarro both had two hits.
  11. Port Arthur News Vidor—The Vidor Pirates Trea Hester hit a two-run homer in the first inning and held the Port Neches-Groves Indians to zeros until the fourth inning. That’s when Hester great night turned into PNG’s wonderful night. Trailing 2-0 going into the fourth, the Tribe scored three runs that inning and four in the fifth and sixth innings en route to their 11-3 victory over the Pirates on Saturday afternoon. Hester was not the only pitcher to homer, either. Jerin Spikes, who tossed five innings to get the win, hit a solo shot in the fifth inning. PN-G also had a grand slam from sophomore centerfielder Amir Jalai, who also homered in Tuesday’s 10-0 win over Livingston. The Indians piled up 11 hits to Vidor’s six. Vidor also committed three errors, which turned into five unearned runs. The Tribe was lead by Zach Rhame, who had two singles and a double. Austin Stone finished with a single and double, and Chris Sweetenham had a pair of singles. With the win, PNG is now 7-8 overall and 3-1 in District 20-4A, LCM, Vidor, PNG and Nederland all at the top going into next week’s competition. The Indians have won three in a row and four out of their last five and will host Lumberton on Tuesday.
  12. Congrats on the honor. Gulley and Bernard play for who ?
  13. Jalali hit a no doubter but the key was Jerin Spikes for PNG. After giving a early HR to Hester he settled down an pitched a gem. He also came back to homer off Hester. Another key hit in the game was provided by Austin Stone, who doubled off the wall to tie the score.

Who's the best team at this point ?. LCM's Brown beats PNG but loses to Ned. PNG's Spikes beats Vidor with Hester and Nederland. Nederland's Bellow beats LCM. In 3A, top rank BC squeezes by HJ and Silsbee, both 4-3 scores. Cards make 2 errors total in two games, strikeout 5 times total and score only 8 runs for the week, give up 6. Orangefield and Hamshire-Fannett score 18 and 19 runs for the week. At this point who is in your top 10 ?
  15. Hicks pitched Monday and Friday (3 days rest) got 2 wins, threw less pitches total than both pitchers in the LCM/Ned game and Statum who went 5 against HF.
  16. That's great, but it's hard throwing bp in it with a blocking sled.
