  1. With Harrington on the mound for PNG, the DOGS will have their work cut out. Don't get me wrong they can win this game, but they must do the things that playoff teams must do, move the ball. What impresses me about PNG is they do the small things that win games. It starts with Carnahan behind the plate, he frames and blocks pitches better than most high school catchers. PNG will play for one run at a time no matter the score, they bunt, move runners over by hitting behind the runner and take pitches for walks. Nederland has the potential to score runs, they must keep the K's down and make PNG play defense.
  2. Let's not write the obit for the Bears just yet. Remember, they went 14-0 last year in district with the same tournament schedule.
  3. Haven't seen any highlights, gone all day. Soon as Oprah gives the bank away, Mrs Ruth says I can flip to Tiger highlights.
  4. No shortage of quality pitching from both squads. Mitch Todd of PNG was lights out with devastating 1st strike breaking ball. He tired in the 5th and Eric Harrington with only 50 something pitches thrown Tues. had plenty in the tank to finish it off. Dallas Brown of LCM pitched well, Jalai and Harrington took him deep on pitches that he was behind in the count. A big 2 out error gave Mitch Todd an opportunity and he delivered a bases clearing triple. Ben Jones of LCM pitched the final two for LCM, I believe he wasn't touched.
  5. He's 7 back of VJ. He might make a run this weekend. Leaderboard
  6. One of the best umpires in the area Gabe Hernandez is being interviewed by Tom Wright currently. It's not about America's pasttime but something more important.
  7. LCM/McNeese Shon Landry Shon Landry, Nick Eubanks and Sam Merrill led a 16 hit Cowboy attack against Texas Southern. Landry had two hits including a two run homer, his third of the season, while Eubanks also had two hits and smacked a solo shot, his second.
  8. Westbrook/Cleveland Indians Jason Tyner Trailing 5-2, the Indians scored nine runs on eight hits off Jason Hammels in the fourth. Jason Tyner started it with a two-run double. Jamey Carroll and Yamid Haad added two-run doubles
  9. WOS/Washington Nationals John Patterson Tom Glavine allowed just one unearned run in four innings for Atlanta, while Washington's John Patterson tossed three scoreless frames as the Braves and Nationals played to a 2-2 tie after 11 innings in Grapefruit League action.
  10. Nederland/Wake Forrest's Dustin Hood Dustin Hood hit a double that helped Wake Forest climb from behind "The Deacons added a solo run in the seventh on a double by Dustin Hood and an RBI double by Goff that left Wake Forest behind 12-8 entering the eighth." Link to full Story
  11. Westbrook/Ole Miss Tim Ferguson Tim got his 1st start for #5 Ole Miss and went 3-4 with rbi. Batting .500 in 10 games. Link to Full Story
  12. LCM's Clayton Elhert with Win today for A&M. "Ehlert (1-1), making his first start of the season and fifth of his career, picked up the win. He allowed seven hits, two runs (one earned) and did not walk a batter while fanning a career-best seven." Link for Full Story

SS..................Harrington........Gunn............... 3B..................Benoit..............Cloren.............. LF..................Jalaii................Barry............... 14. Taylor Robichau of Vidor threw a gem tonight. His breaking ball was nasty, great change, then a sneaky fastball. His defense let him down with 4 errors but he pitched out of it. One thing about taylor, he fields his position on the mound better than most infielders. Kirby Bellows started strong, lost his control in the mid innings. Dogs made 4 errors tonight that didn't help. Jude Vidrine of Nederland hit the ball well for the Dogs. Just by memory, VJ Bunner and Trae Hester had the key hits for the Pirates.
  15. What if Ang Green, Shandi Conner, Tremain Thomas, Derrick Hall, Cody Hussey or Christian Michael had to sit out every other game. When you have a top line pitcher, the high school baseball coach must decide when to pitch him Tuesday or Friday in district play. It sure makes the district races fun. I'm off to Vidor vs Nederland.
  16. Coop, are we broadcasting both games at the same time ? Ned/Vid and HF/Silsbee
  17. By Andrew Kappes | March 9th, 2008 WB's Jay Bruce went 0-3 at the plate, but showcased his outfield skills. Bruce threw out Dioner Navarro at third base, and B.J. Upton at second base.
  18. Thanks dav-j, when you have been involved in summer ball as long as I have, it's a thrill to see these kids succeed, not only in college but in their life after baseball. I know we have many local kids in college, all you moms and dads, coaches and girlfriends, send me a pm with their name and school and I will search and post what I can find about them.
  19. BC's Derrick Coleman was 3-6 in 2 games this weekend for Panola JC. He had a double, triple, HR and 5 RBI's at a tournament in Vicksburg, Miss Compliments of Gary Stelly
  20. No redshirt, 2nd yr at San Jac, will play at Lamar for 2009.
