  1. Despite being named in the Mitchell Report, having his older brother die in a motorcycle accident in January and dealing with a reality where being dealt to the Astros is an upgrade, Miguel Tejada can't really curse the heavens just yet. After all, he's still married to the stunning Alejandra, who in the past year has become a spanish-language pop star with a second album already announced for later this year.
  2. i dnt get it SFA If you don't know now you know.... #44.... Dravannti Johnson's stock got a boost after his performance in the Army junior combine last year. SAN ANTONIO - Several of the players at this year's U.S. Army All-American Bowl earned their way through by showing out during the Army Junior combine exactly a year ago. One such player is long-time Texas commitment Dravannti Johnson who came last year and showed himself as one of the nation's top defensive prospects.
  3. Aggies stomp Nicholls State Right handed pitchers LCM's Clayton Ehlert and Evan Gerald turned the lights out on Nicholls State in the eighth and ninth innings to complete the game. The inning was Gerald's first work since making one appearance in 2007 against Texas-Arlington on February 20.
  4. San Jac sweeps Galveston BC pitcher Kevin Angelle gets a no decision pitching 5 innings, 4 hits, and 8 strike-outs in third game. San Jac wins in extra innings 5-4. Michael Johnson from Bellaire gets the win
  5. "Rookie Clay Buchholz was taken deep on consecutive pitches by Justin Morneau (two-run homer) and Craig Monroe of the Twins in the first inning of a 7-2 loss to Minnesota in City of Palms Park. Buchholz recovered to retire the last seven batters he faced in a three-inning stint in which he struck out three and did not allow a ball out of the infield the last two innings. "I think he has great stuff, and I think he's learning, even if it's spring training, that if you make a mistake with major league hitters, they make you pay a price, and maybe that's a good thing," said Francona. 6. Will Jay Bruce start in Triple A ? "With Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn on the outfield corners, the Reds have been taking a look at power-hitting prospect Jay Bruce in center. Patterson's arrival seems to increase the chances Baseball America's reigning Minor League Player of the Year goes to Triple A to await a Griffey or Dunn trade." Link to Story

  8. Nice re-cap HighQualityBP. Aaron Bender has one of the sweetest sliders in the area, plus a great kid.
  9. I've watched alot of baseball in my life, especially high school. The No.1 part of the game that has changed over the years is defense. Where has the double play gone, the pop up behind the plate caught or the ball hit in the gap relayed to the plate? Have we turned the players into specialist at the plate or the mound? Anyone with the answer please chime in.
  10. Nice day at the ballpark for Mr Henton. Does the Hemphill coach not have 4 fingers?

  12. Tiger takes on Smoltz at plate Two days after John Smoltz, Jeff Francoeur and Tom Glavine played 18 holes with PGA star Tiger Woods, Smoltz faced his pal again Wednesday — this time in the pitcher's domain. Woods donned a batting helmet and Braves jersey (tucked into shorts) and stepped into the batter's box when Smoltz threw three simulated innings at Disney's Wide World of Sports. According to Braves officials who were present, Woods struck out twice and drew a walk before getting a "controversial" single in his final at-bat.
  13. Clemens Investigators Look at Houston Clinic "Internal Revenue Service agents have contacted a former employee of a fitness center here as part of an effort to determine whether Roger Clemens obtained steroids or human growth hormone in the Houston area, where he lives, the former employee said… The former employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said in an interview Wednesday that the federal agents asked about the operation of Shaun Kelley Weight Control, as well as whether Clemens knew the center’s owner, Shaun K. Kelley. ... Kelley, 46, is from a well-known family. His parents served on Houston’s city council in the 1990s, his brother Shannon Kelley is a former University of Texas quarterback, and the former Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton is his sister-in-law. ... Clemens visited Kelley’s center in the past few years, according to the former employee who spoke to I.R.S. agents. Clemens arrived at the center, explained that he was a friend of Kelley and waited while Kelley finished speaking to a client. Clemens then entered Kelley’s office and stayed for about 20 minutes, the former employee said. Kelley said: “I have never seen Clemens in my store, ever. This is all totally false.â€

  16. Very exciting baseball game. Both starting pitchers pitched well enough to get a win, Monse of HJ was almost untouchable, but left in the 5th, Koenig of HF had little defense behind him. HF smalled balled to get back from 5-1, Logan Johnson of HF pitched well in relief as the defense of HF plugged the hole up when he was on the mound. Going to be a fun 3a run.
  17. MrUmp1 will be our source for a rules question for High School baseball. This thread will be for rules not judgement calls during the season. Thread rule 1) No bashing the umpires 2) Keep it serious to baseball issues, no chit chat.
  18. Dodgers plan to break baseball's attendance record with over 115,000 as they host the Red Sox. On March 29th, the Dodgers will take on Boston in an exhibition game. So far over 90,000 tickets have been sold and they are looking to sell 25,000+ standing room tickets. The Dodgers played in the Coliseum through 1961 after moving to LA. The previous record for a baseball game is believed to be 93,103 for a Dodgers vs Yakees exhibition game, which was a fundraiser for Roy Campanella. 92,706 fans attended a World Series game in 1959 as the largest official MLB game attendance. The fence will only be 200 ft away down the left field line, so a 62 foot high screen will be used a mega wall. With the expected success of this event the Dodgers are also considering playing a regular season game at the Coliseum sometime in the future.
  19. I might be stepping out on this but Hicks could be the best player in Southeast Texas in any classification.
