  1. How’s this for junk science - even with three Gold Gloves, Yankees captain Derek Jeter has been labeled the worst fielding shortstop in baseball. But the numbers prove it, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania said yesterday at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, in (of course) Boston. Link
  2. OK, the coaches have seen what they got. This week starts the long trek to Austin, comment on what your team's strengths and weakness are. Next week we should have a new poll after real games and tournament action.

  4. With my good friends at PNG, lil Johnny would have never missed a game if he threw 90 from the left side
  5. Hester, Robichau and Celeste looks like they're in mid season form. BigMacAg, has Fazio thrown any yet, if so, how does he look?
  6. I would throw in Robichau and Fontnow from Vidor, along with Adam Broussard at Nederland.
  7. Lumberton's Clay Buchholz or Houston native Josh Beckett
  8. Who else have they played besides Orangefield? I think New Caney, Aldine and HF. Against OF,Sampere, Bellows, McFarland and Richard didn't throw. The play Westbrook tomorrow.
  9. Ok Eagle, you can bet that would be a great series, but the season is early. PNG will be strong with Harrington on the mound, they will have hit more than what I've seen. LCM, I hope to see them tommorrow, they are the front runners but the staff is unproven for Tuesday and Friday. Vidor I really like. Ozen is dangerous. I can't remember a time when this district is as close in talent.
  10. I look for Nederland to challenge for the district crown. They could have the deepest and best pitching staff in the area. Ryan Sampere, Kirby Bellows, Aaron Mcfarland and Justin Richard should get most of the innings, I can't find a better staff in Southeast Texas, Barbers Hill maybe.
  11. I guess he wasn't a nut Pettitte says he used HGH supplied by father in 2004 'Pettitte told congressional lawyers that Clemens informed him nearly a decade ago he had used human growth hormone and said McNamee let him know in 2003 or 2004 that Clemens had used steroids. Pettitte also admitted his own use of HGH was not limited to 2002, as he previously said, but that he also took injections in 2004 after obtaining the substance from his ailing father.' Link
  12. I've enjoyed the games I have attended, but how long will the taxpayers of Jefferson County cough up $10,000 per game?

  14. Former major league pitcher John Rocker said Monday that baseball commissioner Bud Selig knew he failed a drug test in 2000 and that doctors for the “league†and the “players association†advised him and several Texas Rangers teammates on how to effectively use steroids. Rocker, no stranger to controversy, made those comments on Atlanta radio station Rock 100.5. Later Monday, he told Atlanta sports talk radio station 680 The Fan that “between 40 to 50 percent of baseball players are on steroids†and “in 2000 Bud Selig knew John Rocker was taking the juice.†Last March, Rocker told ESPN Radio that, by his own guess, “less than 10 percent†of players were using illegal performance-enhancing substances while he was in the majors. 15. The chairman of the House Oversight Committee is supporting Andy Pettitte’s request not to have to testify publicly against his former teammate Roger Clemens at a public hearing on Wednesday, a congressional staff person said Monday. The chairman, Democrat Henry A. Waxman of California, wants to take Pettitte off the witness list but he is consulting with Republican members of the panel first, said the person, who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak publicly. Two other people familiar with the case said it is also possible that Clemens and his accuser, the former trainer Brian McNamee, may be the only witnesses who will ultimately testify on Wednesday. Pettitte asked out of public testimony because he did not want to say something to hurt his friend and former teammate while in the glare of national television coverage, according to a government official who spoke on condition of anonymity. There has been no final decision on Pettitte’s request, the official said. A final witness list may be released shortly. Link NY Times
  16. Take out that 91 on the gun the Met's scout had on Hales, Nederland and BH's pitching was about the same. The wind was blowing in at Nederland at 20 mph plus so the ball didn't carry as well as at Barbers Hill. Since HF didn't put the ball in play that much against Ned or BH, hard to gauge the defense.
  17. Robichau and Sims will give Vidor many quality innings, the guy below could be lights out. Trae Hester
