  2. Baseball is stat oriented, so a score of 4-3 and nothing else doesn't do much for the baseball crowd, they want more. In the perfect world, we can have all the boxscores of our games posted after each game. That's why we need one dedicated fan to supply that information to us. Most schools have at least one person who keeps a book at the baseball game, be it a coach, student manager or parent. It would be helpfull if that information could be forwarded to us at the board either by PM or just post it. So between now and the 1st pitch, I challenge each school to pick that person who can provide the information and have them send me a PM. 3. We are going to leave this open for a couple more weeks. If you see someone that hasn't been nominated drop their name.
  4. Tilghman Suspended 2 Weeks By DOUG FERGUSON HONOLULU - Golf Channel suspended anchor Kelly Tilghman for two weeks on Wednesday for saying last week that young players who wanted to challenge Tiger Woods should "lynch him in a back alley." Tilghman was laughing during the exchange Friday with analyst Nick Faldo at the Mercedes-Benz Championship, and Woods' agent at IMG said he didn't think there was any ill intent. But the comments became prevalent on news shows Wednesday, and the Rev. Al Sharpton joined the fray by demanding she be fired immediately. Golf Channel didn't know who would replace Tilghman in the booth this week at the Sony (nyse: SNE - news - people ) Open or next week at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. [Hidden Content]
  5. By HOWARD FENDRICH WASHINGTON (AP) -Congress wants to be prepared when Roger Clemens and his former trainer, Brian McNamee, head to Capitol Hill. The House hearing involving Clemens, McNamee and Andy Pettitte was postponed Wednesday from Jan. 16 until Feb. 13, giving lawmakers more time to gather evidence, to take depositions from the witnesses and to coordinate their investigation with the Justice Department. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform was to begin meeting with lawyers for the witnesses Thursday. Clemens' attorney, Rusty Hardin, said he hopes to meet with committee staffers next week. In addition, McNamee is to meet with federal prosecutors Thursday in New York. "Roger hasn't done anything," Hardin said. "The federal government looking at Roger is fine with me." Link to full story
  6. Todd Stottlemyre was a great competitor, not good with the press. He received one vote for the Hall of Fame.
  7. Agent Scott Boras Loses his Mind Scott Boras, agent for Rick Ankiel in negoiations with St. Louis Cardinals actually used the below quote. You have a player whose contributions came first as a pitcher, then as a position player," the agent said. "The last player you're really talking about is Babe Ruth."

  10. It's refreshing to see some substance in a game wrap up. Thanks Soulja
  11. I would recommend to all the players to print this out and have it laminated. In 20 years you can have it as back up when your own kids question your playing days as you tell them about that great catch you made or the great defensive player you were.
  12. We are still crunching the names. The team will be announced before the 1st day of practice. Remember, any complaining about the list will fall on deaf ears. There is no democracy on the baseball board, it is run by a totalitarian regime.
  13. July 2, 2007. Newly acquired Lance Odom is pitching for the Lancaster (Pa) Barnstormers against the Somerset Patriots. Bottom of the 12th inning. Game tied 6-6. *Odom hits the leadoff man, former Met 2B Danny Garcia. *Odom commits an error on a pickoff attempt; Garcia advances to second base. *Sacrifice bunt; Garcia advances to third base. And with one out and a runner on third, the fun begins. Watch as Odom tries to intentionally walk the next two batters in order to load the bases
  14. Daniel Chopra wins and a gets to to play in the Masters
  15. Stricker and Chopra are in a playoff. They are playing their 4th hole of the playoff, might not finish as it's getting dark in Hawaii with only 20 minutes of light remaining.
  16. You make some great points, but take a look at these numbers: The transformation that Barry Bonds achieved through the use of performance-enhancing drugs is reflected in his batting statistics. Bonds began using steroids before the start of the 1999 season, when he was 34 years old. His numbers, as compiled by baseball-reference.com, show that his performance improved dramatically at a time when otherwise he might have been approaching the end of his career. Stats on Barry
  17. 3 way tie for the lead. For you golf fans and I know there's not many, 4th round just started, it's live from Hawaii on Time Warner 71, Golf Channel.
  18. Ghost writer quits Jose Canseco book By CHRISTIAN RED DAILY SPORTS STAFF WRITER Jose Canseco's sequel to his 2005 best-seller "Juiced" has hit its first snag. As the Daily News first reported last weekend, former Bash Brother Canseco has finalized a deal to publish "Vindicated" with Penguin Books, with a planned release date to coincide with Opening Day. But former Sports Illustrated associate editor Don Yaeger, who was scheduled to collaborate with Canseco on the book, has passed on the project. Yaeger said Friday that Canseco does not have the goods on Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez that Canseco alluded to in media interviews last month. "I'm passing," Yaeger told the Daily News. "I had a chance to review the Jose Canseco (material) that he provided me. I don't think there's a book there. I don't know what they're going to do. I don't think he's got what he claims to have, certainly doesn't have what he claims to have on A-Rod.
  19. Clemens, McNamee have 'emotional' phone talk BY DAVID LENNON In a surprising twist to their public war of words, Roger Clemens and his former trainer, Brian McNamee, spoke by telephone Friday night, Newsday has learned. It was their first contact since the Mitchell Report was released Dec. 13, and a person close to the situation described the hourlong conversation between the longtime friends as "emotional."
