Swampdude, I think your right. SACRIFICES 10.09 (a) Score a sacrifice bunt when, before two are out, the batter advances one or more runners with a bunt and is put out at first base, or would have been put out except for a fielding error. ( Score a sacrifice bunt when, before two are out, the fielders handle a bunted ball without error in an unsuccessful attempt to put out a preceding runner advancing one base. EXCEPTION: When an attempt to turn a bunt into a putout of a preceding runner fails, and in the scorer’s judgment perfect play would not have put out the batter at first base, the batter shall be credited with a one-base hit and not a sacrifice. © Do not score a sacrifice bunt when any runner is put out attempting to advance one base on a bunt. Charge the batter with a time at bat. (d) Do not score a sacrifice bunt when, in the judgment of the scorer, the batter is bunting primarily for a base hit and not for the purpose of advancing a runner or runners. Charge the batter with a time at bat. NOTE: In applying the above rule, always give the batter the benefit of the doubt. (e) Score a sacrifice fly when, before two are out, the batter hits a fly ball or a line drive handled by an outfielder or an infielder running in the outfield which (1) is caught, and a runner scores after the catch, or (2) is dropped, and a runner scores, if in the scorer’s judgment the runner could have scored after the catch had the fly been caught. NOTE: Score a sacrifice fly in accordance with 10.09 (e) (2) even though another runner is forced out by reason of the batter becoming a runner. -

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- You probably figured that Clay Buchholz, Boston's highly regarded pitching prospect, had a sleepless night leading up to his first start in Major League surroundings. Turns out the guy couldn't keep his eyes open. "I went to bed at 7:30 last night," said Buchholz. "I stayed asleep all the way through until 7:30 this morning. It was more that just sitting around the house sort of took a little bit of energy out of me, so I just went upstairs and tried to take an hour or two nap and it ended up being a 12-hour nap." Then he got out on the mound and faced a lineup that included Carl Crawford and Delmon Young and pretty much put the Devil Rays to sleep -- at least for his first four innings. [Hidden Content]

BASEBALL: Dalton sets new NCAA mark with five doubles in Friday's 11-10 win over LeTourneau MARSHALL, Texas (4/2/07) – East Texas Baptist freshman shortstop Aaron Dalton set a new NCAA Division III single-game doubles record with five two-baggers in Friday’s 11-10 win over LeTourneau at Young Field. Dalton, a freshman from Nederland, finished the game with a 5-for-6 showing at the plate, with all five hits being doubles. His fifth double of the day set up the game-winning run in the 11th inning on a single by freshman teammate Johnny Cole. Dalton had eight hits in the Tigers’ three-game sweep of LeTourneau over the weekend, with six of them going for doubles. In all, Dalton raised his season batting average 74 points over the weekend and now is second on the team among regular starters with a .324 average and team-best eight doubles. Dalton and the Tigers play a non-conference doubleheader at Texas College on Tuesday before returning to conference action Thursday at Louisiana College in Pineville, La.

Sometimes we overlook the players that don't make a big splash in college or pro ball that played high school or summer league/select ball. As I was reading this story on kfdm website, I remember this hero as a chubby 13 yr old who loved the game of baseball. Even though he never made an all-star team in the 3yrs I had him, we were lucky to have him in our league. Jared Dupree, thanks. [Hidden Content] -

Parson and Reagan very good pitchers for Jasper. With Stringer on the mound for BC, they have the advantage. Dishon has cooled off from non-district play, that should change shortly. Cards by 2. -

I tip my hat to BC for an incredible streak, and big congrats to Schooling and the whole Silsbee team. -
Clay always worked hard, and was team player. It's was a no brainer that he had the skills to get to this level. Clay had hit a 2 or 3 run homer early in the game of a BC tournament championship game. Lumberton was down again late in the 7th, 1st base open and Clay comes to back. If I remember, Coach motions to catcher to not to walk him but pitch around him, too much plate.....game over.

Best catchers in the area?
adminbaberuth replied to raiderfan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Carnahan is good one. I like the Silsbee catcher, Rowell is a solid clutch hitter, Moshier of Nederland and Williams of Vidor can play. Barbers Hill's Campbell impresses the most, imo. -
Coach Ancelot would probably be a good hire. But, can she recruit at the national level? The way the Lady's program has suffered recently, she couldn't do any worse. Now, when Gilligan hangs it up what do we do? Do we support Rickleson, he has stood in line with Gilligan for years? What about local talent in Coach Griff, Coach Stone or Sam Moore? Each of those guys could step in, but can they recruit nationally?
