  1. PNG too deep for the Jags, who I must say have really turned it around. During the summer I seen the Central coach out at the ballpark, that tells me he is interested in his program.
  2. I like Orangefield and Coach Bennet, who has done a good job over there. They have some talent on this squad. Jasper is a strong team, the Bobcats will take them to the wire.
  3. Not to take anything away from HF, they jumped out quick with about 5 or 6 solid hits in the 1st to go up 9 or 10 in the 1st but what has happen to WOS? We all know the success of the Mustangs in football, but for us old timers WOS baseball history is even richer. Let's hope the can right this ship, soon.
  4. Kris Hearn down in the count 0-2 with the bases loaded in a 2-2 game came thru for LCM with a base hit to push LCM up 4-2 in the bottom of 6th. Adam Leggett retires the side in 7th to get the win. Nederland down 2-0 in the 6th got a clutch rbi double from Aaron McFarland, couple of wild pitches scored the tieing run before Hearn came thru. Dallas Brown and Adam Legget pitched well for LCM and Beau Helmke was solid for Nederland and went the distance. Jake Rowell homered for LCM

  6. I've umpired a few games, my favorite was a Llittle League a few years back. It was the Tigers vs Yankees on a hot summer day. It was my turn to do the bases, game tied late in the game. Tigers hit a lazy fly down the 1st base line, I get in position to see if it will land fair or foul. The ball hits in fair territory so I give the signal fair and point towards fair territory, batter ends up at second. Tigers end up scoring and winning the game. As usual, us umpires head to concession stand to get our pay, cheesburger and fries. But before I get to put in my order, momma taps me on shoulder, and as I remember pretty darn hard and commences to cuss me like I've never been cussed before. Reason.....She said I was telling the runner to go 2nd base by signaling him when the ball landed fair.
  7. HF's Randall Courville 5-6 with HR HF played Bridge City and Kirbyville
  8. Of the uniform, the hat is the most sacred. The pants, shirt and sock can be dibbled with, not the hat.
  9. Ya'll can let me have it, but I back the league on this one.
  10. I like the Spikes kid from PNG...Pitts from Nederland may make some noise.....Daigle from HF can fly...... As for as freshman........Statum from OF and Hicks from BC play as Sr's.
  11. Most of your HR's will be hit prior to district, but you can throw that out the window with Murphy hitting 3 in one game.
  12. If Treece pitches, advantage HJ, if not toss up.
  13. After spending most of the summer with VJ, he will be the 1st to tell you, there is 9 on the field. There is no me in VJ. Look forward to seeing you on the diamond, soon.
  14. According to these guidelines the player could play Friday. "Ejection from a UIL contest. If an athlete is ejected or suspended from a contest by an official or coach, it is the Head Coach's responsibility to notify the Executive Director of Athletics as soon as possible as per UIL rules. The athlete could possibly receive an automatic one game suspension. A second ejection may lead to possible suspension from the team."
  15. HF...400-100-3.....8-10-5 BC...032-041-x....10-11-0 WP...Matt Hicks LP....Michael Lange Taking advantage of early meltdown of BC's starting pitcher, HF takes early 4-0 lead. Jason Clark of BC reliefs the starting pitcher and closes the door, BC's strong hitting, errorless defense and key hits by Troy Bolton and Garret Delano got BC back into game. HF played small ball with great speed, and rallied for 3 in the 7th on a Michael Lange 2 rbi single to bring the go ahead run to the plate. Matt Hicks who pitched well in relief got the k and the win.
  16. Image, he's liked about like Cobb was. Roger is for Roger, until he can't get anyone out, the owners will pay him to put butts in those seats.
  17. A baseball score with some info, thanks Coach.
  18. Vidor hits the ball, they don't strike out that much. Vidor.
  19. I've seen both teams in the last couple of weeks, toss up to me. Jasper hard to beat at home, slight advantage to Jasper.
  20. Kevin Angelle picks up win on the mound as San Jac defeats Laredo. LCM's Scheinder singled of Angelle.
  21. Jonathan Smith started for Pirates, got the ball up and Nederland took advantage of it and took a 4 run lead. For the Dogs, Ryan Sampere started strong, got thru order once, then the bottom dropped out. He had either Daniel Teal or VJ Bunner down 0-2 and hung a curve that open the flood gates with a 8 spot in the 3rd or 4th, Nederland's defense didn't help that inning either. Taylor Robichau of Vidor pitched great in relief. we know that VJ Bunner is something a SS, but Larry Williams the catcher is a throw back on the diamond, what a leader. The 4 hole hitter, I believe it's Perkins, has prospect written all over him. If Nederland can get Beau healthy, correct the defensive lapses, they can right this wobbling ship. That was Reagan Stanley with the major league catch in RF.
  22. Tomorrow will tell how Nederland will fair the rest of the way. Vidor scores 22 tonight and is chomping at the bit for the game Saturday.
