  1. I believe the QB of LaMarque that was suspended has returned in this game, played and also was the captain.
  2. Brook seems to be a second half team, hope they can re-group.
  3. Early 1st qtr SLC 7 Odessa 0 Newton with 8 yrd TD run You can listen at [Hidden Content]
  4. Waco gave a better fight than I expected. Giddings is an explosive team, WOS defense held them to 21.
  5. One good thing about this healthy competition for talent in our area is the names being thrown out who are involved. All know the game, and the kids that play will benefit more than the adults running it. As a side note, there is another league in Mid County that is open to all kids in the summer which will not interfere with select ball, as Mid County Babe Ruth plays Monday thru Thursday. We have already reached an agreement with some of the Select teams to play with us during the week and return on weekends with their select team. So if a kid wants to play baseball, it's here in Southeast Texas.
  6. Nothing like a friendly challenge when frost will be on the ground tomorrow. Spring can't get here soon enough. Oh, I love the game of baseball.

  8. Most exciting I seen was Vidor's win over Nederland.
  9. Last year was the year of the pitchers, with Kevin Angelle, Clayton Elhert and Matison Smith just to name a few. This year could be the year of the catchers. Rowell, Hargrave, Campbell, Jackson (BC) and Carnahan. Daniel Teal (Vidor) and Shae Campbell (Nederland) could make a name also.
  10. It's my 1st time to see WOS this year, to me they were not 2 TD's better than Giddings. Could they have beaten Giddings, yes. Giddings won the game in the trenches. They were beating the Stangs on both sides of the ball. I really thought #2 Rhodes, should have been more involved in the offense, he's dangerous. Maybe that would have given Earl some type of a break.
  11. Lamar too much for the Dogs, not in effort but in size, speed and just a very good ballclub. No. 33 for Lamar was hyped as the next Barry Sanders, he was all of that, but more. Micha Mosley was Micha, I believe over 300 yards, what can you say that hasn't already been said. Good luck in the future to these Seniors: Logan Theriot, Jarvis Benton, Darren Washington, Josh Cabra,Alex Moshier, Drew Miller, Jarrett Kelly,Micah Mosley Drew Coates, Kent Maxwell,Devon Brack Travis Dabel David Tompkins Craig Harper Matt Molina, Josh Miller, Blaine Daniel Adam Westbrook, Joe Isbell,Anthony Holland ,Colby Miller, Mohammad Ali, Ari Paskell, Phillip Biehle, Charles Klein
  12. It's been a pattern that doesn't look likely to change until we experience some growth. Baseball and Softball are the sports that this area can comptete on the state wide area.
  13. I agree Coop, WOS defense is really strong. Fitz only had 109 yards, well below his average. [Hidden Content]
  14. What a game, Giddings is the real thing. #11 for Giddings can play. Earl Thomas is a hell of an athlete, the kid can do it all. Too much pressure on Bevil, couldn't set and find his receivers. Don't understand the deep snap when your on the 1 with 1st down. 2 QB sneaks and your 2 points from tieing this up. Great year for the Stangs.
  15. WOS87 Help me out. How does Nederland rank in the state with most consecutive bi-district wins ?
  16. Just got home from sis's house. Ate for 2 qtrs, slept awhile, spilled the beans on my siblings in front of their teen age children. "My mom is a geek, she wouldn't do that as child". "Yes she did."
  17. Stangs, don't feel lonely. texasfootball.com Beaumont Central (9-2) vs. La Marque (10-1): Central knocked off an unbeaten team last week, but doing the same to a one-loss team will be tough. However, La Marque will be missing QB Durklyn Haynes, enough to persuade us into an upset Nederland (6-5) vs. Lamar Consolidated (11-0): Upset alert! This is the round Lamar Consolidated lost in last year -- and let us remind you Consolidated was also 11-0 at this point a year ago. With a go-to RB in Micah Mosley, Nederland won't go out quietly, but nevertheless, Lamar Consol will advance. Beaumont West Brook (8-3) vs. FB Marshall (8-3): Heroics (a TD with under a minute remaining) propelled Marshall to the second round. This week, though, West Brook will eject Marshall from the playoffs.
  18. 26 carries 164 yards and 5 TD's, just an attaboy
