  4. LCM, 1st you have to park near KOGT, walk about 2 miles, then when you get there you have the band and westernaires fill up the vistors side. Then, I pull out my cell phone, call a cousin on the other side and crash the party.

  8. Can a kid play for another school if his team doesn't field a team?
  9. Congrats to Jerrod. Instead of playing near the infield dirt in his outfield position at the Bear Cave, he will be playing here.
  10. 95% of summer league activities are well run and have no problems. You will always have some coach/dad take it a little too serious. Kids lose out. I’ve been involved in summer league baseball for over 20 years, had to step out when my kid came thru “no dad coaching own sonâ€, but you know what most kid’s want, no matter if their a pro prospect or never played high school baseball, FUN. Times have changed, are we losing the meaning of summer ?
  11. Monday's games of the 19th rained out. www.midcountybaberuth.com
  12. We have passed the mid way point in our season, which is our 50th year of Babe Ruth baseball in Mid County. www.midcountybaberuth.com
  13. I've watched WOS and LCM football for years, this is in no way disrespecting LCM, but WOS has had the superior talent and it's not even close. To be honest, the talent at WOS is second to no one in the area, plus you have the best good guy bad guy tandem team in coaches, Hooks and Thompson.
  14. The local press passed out awards to the local media this week and they must have missed one. I nominate and crown 1st place to MIF, for All SETEX sports All Southeast Texas Baseball Team.
  15. Never got it rolling against LE, main reason the pitcher Middlebrooks. He was the best that BC has faced all year. LE was very patient at the plate, which included not swinging at pitches off the plate. LE ran the bases well, bunted when necessary and put pressure on BC’s defense by putting the ball in play. BC battled back from 3-0 deficient in spite of a few miscues and Kevin not as sharp as usual, to tie it at 3-3. After starting to get back in the grove with 3 up 3 down in the 4th, Angelle gave up a single and walk to LE in the 5th. Angelle was at 100 pitches, 40 less than last weeks game against Yoe with 3 lefty’s coming up. As a coach you go with your gut right or wrong, as Coach Bryant had these choices: I………Leave Angelle in, he has enough to finish. II……. Bring in Haymond, my other Div 1 pitcher who shut down a good Yoe squad as 3 lefty’s are coming up. III…….Bring in Stringer, another lefty against 3 lefty’s coming up IV…….Bring in Meeks, a righty but very effective in closing out 2 wins for BC in previous playoff victories. As it turns out, walks killed the Cards. This lost doesn’t take away the great season the Cards had. They were very good team.
  16. and see a bunch of baseball players from Bridge City on the side of the road, give them a lift, as their bus has broken down.
  17. Brenham might have been reading too many press clippings? Seen both the Miller and Seastruck kids of CV pitch as juniors and they are some the best high school throwers I've seen.
  18. After shaky start Broc Hayman pitched a heck of a game on a very hot day. BC played almost flawless defense, Bolton with nice charging play, Jackson throwing out runner, Hecker and Coleman sucked up everything and Angelle with a hustling back up of wild pitch that saved a run late. Yoe's pitcher was very good, but loaded the bases with a Dishon single and back to back walks to Angelle and Sparks. Jackson looked like he guessed fastball on 1st pitch and hammered it to deep left center. On to Austin.
