  1. Cameron Yoe not a bad team...... Yoe's starting pitcher maybe got it up to 75, he pitched well the 1st time thru lineup.........Been awhile since I've seen a club's No 1 also the catcher, then after 4 innings turn into the RF........CF made great catch in LF early for Yoe Kevin mowed them down with the k's but walked more than usual........Cody Sparks smoked the ball for the Cards.......Meeks came in and looked real good
  2. In baseball you never have to worry about this running up the score. We have a 10 run rule, but it's unwritten prior to the 5th, of what is expected from a coach. And if he doesn't follow it, then watch out.
  3. Didn't see Hebert or Newton, but all the rest State Champsionship games I was there, except TJ's. WOS had the best defense of them all but the best team would be TJ in my opinion.
  4. What would posess the Cameron coach to think that Billy B would want a 1 game series. Angelle is one of the best in Texas, but this staff is deep and anything can happen in a 1 gamer.
  5. Once Kevin Angelle, Casey Jackson and Blue got on the same page, like the black on the plate is a strike, you could say, once the Cards scored, it might be over. Angelle was too much tonight for the Columbus Cardinals. Angelle was a bloop infield hit from a no no. One fly ball that Jonny D ran down, and nothing much else but 16 k's. Taylor Janak of Columbus single handily kept this game close, 2-0 BC late in the game. I believe it was Willey, the courtesy runner who set the tone on offense as he went 1st to 3rd on a base hit to left. Just flat out hustle. Rory Scales really had some great at bats, Day, Bolton, Angelle, Jackson all had key hits. Hope I didn’t leave anyone out. From what I saw tonight, this area has some good teams sitting home. Huffman, Silsbee and Barbers Hill take no back seat to Columbus. This shows you how good the Bridge City Cardinals are.

  7. Tonight we lost a young man, days before his graduation, playing the game he loved. Words can’t express the sorrow we have for his family. Babe Ruth would ask for your prayers for his family.
  8. I've seen Taylor pitch since he was 14. He's not over powering but uses the whole plate and mixes he's pitches. From this area he reminds me of Joe Schooling of Silsbee.
  9. Nick Beamon of Memorial is a fine young man. He has played Babe Ruth for the past 3 years. Read Dave Rogers article on Nick in todays paper. [Hidden Content]
  10. Nederland had it's chance to get back but just booted the ballgame away. Montgomery had a lot to do with as they really hit the ball and played almost flawless defense. BigNed really over achieved with almost a completely new lineup this year. Many picked them out of playoffs or squeezing in at third. Look for this team to be back again next year.
  11. Jeff Stringer of BC completely handcuff a very good hitting club in Barbers Hill. He's curveball was tight and he threw it for strikes. For a guy who hasn't had a lot of innings, it was amazing how many 2-0 and 3-0 counts he threw the curve for strikes. Today's game, BC made a statement. With Angelle, Stringer, Meeks all throwing well, plus with Hayman, who has proven many times he can produce and will get back on track, this weekends performance should set up well for the run. Brett Day continues to swing a hot bat, Jackson with 2 HR's along with Dishon and Sparks HR's was some longball power today. Barbers Hill has some very good talent. The catcher is one of best I've seen in the area. Barrera can play for anyone and Hales is a diamond in the rough.
  12. How did Huffman beat the Hales kid? He's one the most polished sophmores in the area. He's pitched 10 innings against HF and BC, 0 runs. 3 hits, 23 k's. BC had him on ropes in the 1st with the bases loaded and 1 out and he comes back with 2 k's. Game over. It would have been nice if Hales could have gone 7, don't want to see him the rest of series. BC sets up well for tommorrow as Stringer and Haymond should be available. The problem is can BC cool these bats of BH ? Lefty's give the Cardinals fits, they will put the ball in play against Barrera, he's real good but thankfully he's not a lefty.
  13. As I look at the final scores from last night I see from our area: 2A Woodville is 1-0 3A BC is 1-0 4A Nederland is 1-0 4A LCM goes toe to toe with 27 Yankees.
  14. Just arrived, must swallow this in, before commenting.
  15. Down 4-0 to a national ranked team and come up short by a run isn't nothing to hang you head about. Great yr for the Bears and great job by Griif and Wayne.
  16. Matison Smith and Nederland make statement. Let's finish it tomorrow.
  17. That's who I thought was the 2nd pitcher, Carmona. BH does have No 1 and 2 left in Hales and Barrera left. As mentioned earlier I felt BH would hit tonight and they showed it tonight. Angelle wasn't crisp as usual, but BH had a lot to do with it. After jumping up 6-1, I felt BH brought in Carmona to get Angelle to 7 innings. Big turning point was the double play that Haymond made that was called trap. Gutsy call by BH coach after that, as Angelle got behind count 3-0 and he gave Padgett the green light and he launched it for a 3 run homer. All this keeps Angelle off the mound for the rest of series. How do you strike out 18 of the 21 outs and the outcome still in doubt ? Timely hitting by BH. Dishon, Scales and Day had huge hits for BC. Look for a slugfest tomorrow.
  18. Knowing Griff he wouldn't consider this game meaningless, it wasn't the pitching he was concerned with, it was 0 runs he put up against HF. After this tournament he lit a fire and the Bears haven't looked back since.
  19. Haven't seen the LCM pitcher but she must be pretty good. Did watch Nederland and BC earlier and both pitchers were excellent. I believe it was 1-0 Nederland as the Trojack kid hit a HR to win it.
  20. It would help if he has twin boys that are 6"6.
