Still so much discussion about Nederland's abymissal defense last year. Yes, the defense was weak LAST YEAR. We are days away from starting two a days for 2007 season. Look for Ned defense to improve in run and pass defense. If ned front 4 on D can pressure the QB and if Ned plays more man coverage like we did late in the season last year as opposed to zone coverage, then we should fair better statisically this season. More importantly in the win column. -
On that same night Ned had just beaten Vidor. Nederland's playoff hopes hinged on a PNG victory against Ozen. Almost 1,000 Ned football players, coaches and fans waited on Bulldog field while listening to the PNG/Ozen game being broadcast over the PA system. I recall the confusion by the game announcers just listening the final seconds of that game.

stiger85....I remember that moment. The RB that Seale nailed from Houston was Love. I think KFDM aired that play quite a bit. Seale did knock Love off of his feet.

Bucster... Where did you go to high school? We had your same practice regiment as you stated, but excluding the friday night post game practice. This was 26 years ago for me.

Are There More Down Years In Store For PNG & Ned?

Ned Bandit...Defensive should be our strong suit starting the season. This group potentially will be better than last season (d-line, lb's, db's). Offense might not have marquis names to start the season, but they definitely have the talent level to become a more balanced offense this year. As the season progresses, so will the offensive line. We finished the regular season 5-5 in 2006. I think we should be a tad better in the '07 season. We will have a good indication of our progress after the 3rd non-district game. -

Ned Bandit...what makes you think Nederland might have a down season in 2007? -

Actually it's not speculation, it is true. This thing was dealt with a while back, a lot of people know the facts by now........ Bad timing on the Orange Leaders part. BC only has about 7 or 8 seniors on their team this, and all are of high character. The rest of the team were sophomores last year. Coach Stump has done a good job of making sure these guys grow up through the program knowing steroids won't be tolerated. These young guys have been working hard, and will be a part of one of the cleanest programs in the area.

Most anticipated player to watch in 07?

Penny...who are the 2 Butler "type" players that you are referring too? -
Yes, Guiterrez has been a strong back for Nederland the past 2 yrs. If Ned. goes with the spread offense then, I understand he might be playing LB mostly this upcoming season. RB's in 22-4A...Hall (Central), AJ Dugat (Dayton), Salter (LCM)

Eric.... I pulled the Ned vs Lumb '06 boxscore.. Lumberton had 180 yds rushing. Hanna had 138 yds rushing. The records didnt show who ran for the remaining 42 yds.

What RB is the best or has the potential to be the best in 22-4A in '07?

SFA85...Mr Mosley makes a justified counterpoint to your point from your earlier post. I would have thought you would counterpoint his counterpoint with info, stats, etc... Instead your next post is a comment on Nederland emotional ranting. The only conclusion that I draw is that you were trumped by his posting.

fbplayer999....you can read below the benefits of whey protein. This should pretty much cover that it rebuilds, repairs and aids in development of muscle growth. Physical Performance Whey protein has long been considered the "Gold Standard" of protein for serious athletes who work hard to develop and sustain a lean, strong and well-defined physique. Research studies support this belief. Athletes need more protein in their diet, often as much as twice the recommended daily allowance. The protein they choose makes a difference and here are several reasons why whey protein is a preferred choice for athletes of all types. Whey protein is a naturally complete protein, meaning that it contains all of the essential amino acids required in the daily diet. It has the ideal combination of amino acids to help improve body composition and enhance athletic performance. Whey protein is a rich source of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), containing the highest known levels of any natural food source. BCAAs are important for athletes since unlike the other essential amino acids, they are metabolized directly into muscle tissue and are the first ones used during periods of exercise and resistance training. Whey protein provides the body with BCAAs to replenish depleted levels and start repairing and rebuilding lean muscle tissue. Whey protein is an excellent source of the essential amino acid, leucine. Leucine is important for athletes as it plays a key role in promoting muscle protein synthesis and muscle growth. Research has shown that individuals who exercise benefit from diets high in leucine and have more lean muscle tissue and less body fat compared to individuals whose diet contains lower levels of leucine. Whey protein isolate has approximately 50% more leucine than soy protein isolate. Whey protein is a soluble, easy to digest protein and is efficiently absorbed into the body. It is often referred to as a "fast" protein for its ability to quickly provide nourishment to muscles. Whey protein helps athletes maintain a healthy immune system by increasing the levels of glutathione in the body. Glutathione is an anti-oxidant required for a healthy immune system and exercise and resistance training may reduce glutathione levels. Whey protein helps keep athletes healthy and strong to perform their best.

Sharkbaer... My 2 oldest sons have been taking whey protein, multi vitamins and b-complex for 2 years. Both boys are built different. I learned that for my leaner son, he added glucose to his whey protein drinks. He has jumped up from 155 to 170 lbs as of this this week. Both boys eat protein meats along with the supplemental shakes. Both boys play football (college and high school). They continue to workout 4-5 days/week. Give the whey protein time. How long has your son been on his whey protein program?

SFA85....their is virtually minimal comparisons to JV vs Varsity. Varsity is a higher level of competition. In the past several years the o-line has experienced 1 returning starter every 2 yrs. It usually takes about 5 games before a new o-line seasons (ie. 2 scrimmages/3 non-district games). By this point the o-line can call audibles with confidence while recognizing the defensive schemes while entering district play. Yes, Ned defense gave up 355.2 yds/game in 2006 and lost 7 def starters. You ask the question how can they improve? By replacing the d-line, lb's and db's with young, athletic, dedicated men who are hungry to wreak havoc against their opponents. With a quicker, faster, stronger d-line to promote pressure up front. with the right pieces of the puzzle assembled, then 2007 Ned Def should improve statisically. SFA...Why do you ask questions that you know the answer too????? -

SFA85.....Where in this thread does anybody state that Nederland has the #1 LB compared to Singletary of the 80's and the #1 QB in area??? The thread is about "the most anticipated player to watch in 07". So.....Nederland has some players that have good potential to contribute to this upcoming football season. Thats right.... your an x's and o's person who grew up around the corner of Duriel Harris neighborhood and that makes you a member of the Menca Society of Football (top 5% know-it-all). -

Bigdog..... are you thinking of Michael Boyd LB from Nederland a few years ago??? He was a solid hitter.
