I can promise you that there is no way Coach Huck is going to let them be overconfident. He has threatened them within an inch of their life if they even think about going on a message board, so they aren't reading the "bandwagon" comments. He won't allow them to look ahead, so right now all they are thinking about is Hamshire Fannet, which is the way it should be. I don't think anyone in OF has any delusions that they will be the favorites against WOS or Silsbee. I can tell you this, with a few breaks, OF can win these games. It will not be a deal where in years past the coaches and kids wrote off those games as losses before they played them. Now before anyone from HJ or BC gets excited, there is no doubt these games will be a battle and could go either way. The truth is, I don't think anyone in this district is good enough this year to show up and win, they will have to execute on the field to do it.

Well H-J, I would love to give you that point. The problem is there aren't really that many different types of offenses that High School teams run. The difference is talent and attention to detail. I have seen several teams run the shallow back offense and I have yet to see ref's blowing the ball dead multiple times in one game because they were confused as to who had the ball. So, if you choose to believe that because you have seen that offense a couple of times already it is going to give you an advantage, then I invite you to do so. I also have some land I would like to sell you Now, I believe that H-J and BC vs. OF will be a fight, and I am looking forward to watching both games. Hopefully my Bobcats will end up on top!!

Absolutely no question that the field of play is much more level than in past years. And that is across the board.

Well Eaglefan, while I didn't count the people there. It appeared to me, and several others that ya'lls stands were about half full. Visitor side was standing room only. Now while I realize the home side is much larger. There is no way that ya'll outnumbered us. But, since there is no way of knowing for sure, I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

Well OF routinely outnumbers the other team, no matter whether we are having a winning season or not. My Dad lives in Newton and he was telling me that Newton would have as many fans there as OF did. No way, we were about 2-1 over them. And that is a game that most people didnt give us a chance to be competive in. OF is a special place because people are really involved with their kids and the community.

Logan Moss is one of the finest young men I know, whether he gets 50 tackles or 0. (even though I think he is playing very well right now)

I am sorry if I offended you by the 40 comment. I am a little like HJ, (a homer) secondly, I know that HF is a little down this year. OF put up 40 on Newton, and their offense is getting better week to week. Now do you believe that HF's defense is better than Newton's? OF will get 3 starters back, all of which go both ways, and are integral parts of the team. I may be wrong but I see OF making a statement in this game.

OF by 40. I bet you the OF defense comes to play for the beginning of district. As far as the whose gonna be in the cellar question, it won't be OF..... finally.

im sure every team in this district believes the same way, now its about doing! theres no doubt in MY mind the cats will be in the playoffs in the #2 or #3 spot. 1. wos 2. silsbee/of 3. silsbee/of i wouldn't be so sure of silsbee and wos being in the spots you have them... i wouldn't be suprised if WOS didn't get 1st in district this year... and i wouldn't be suprised if Silsbee didn't go to the playoffs this year. seems like every team in the district (except for HF) has a shot at going to the playoffs... going to be a war come district!! i hate to sound like a homer but i dont see anyone in district beating wos. the kinks are being worked out and they have to many weapons on offense and the deffense is solid and getting better. bc and of havent played anyone on the mustangs level this year but wos has played teams that are better than bc and of. i just dont see any team in district showing wos anything they havent already seen and dealt with. jmo i do agree however that this year is going to be fun to watch. I agree that WOS is the favorite, but i think they have the toughest time this year of all the years because they seem to be slightly down compared to previous years and everyone else for the most part seems to be better. HJ has played some very good teams and i think will give WOS a run for their money. WOS beat K-Ville by 1 point 21-20 and HJ lost 28-14 but it was close K-ville pulled away at the end, and HJ didn't (IMO) play to their full ability. If HJ comes out to play they can stay with WOS and maybe possibly beat them (It will be tough dont get me wrong). I say.. WOS, Silsbee, HJ make the playoffs.. (not sure in what order) but BC and OF make it close and take 4th and 5th.. sorry, but i dont see HF doing much and coming in 6th Your not a homer are you HJ???

It amazes me, speveto, how right your are all of the time. Some people get it right sometime, some people seem to never get it right - but you, Einstein - you nail it everytime. Even lil' ol' "No wins this year, life (sic) Silsbee", at this point could take the district crown. Why is that? Well, because every team is 0 - 0 in 21-3A DISTRICT play. Never mind that your statement is inaccurate - I know that in your mind you are correct. I don't know how you stand the pressure. Your have my admiration. That is funny, I don't care who you are....

It is my understanding that Newton has more kids out for football than OF does. That is what happens when you have a team that has a long period of tradition. OF would have more kids playing if we hadn't had back to back to back to back to... well you get the point, losing seasons.

No offense to any of the kids here, but Huckabay from OF is averaging about 9 yards a carry. Where is he on your list?

No doubt we had trouble stopping Newton, and under the current circumstances we would struggle. But the good news is, when we start district we will have 3 starters back on defense. One was all district last year. The other was our starting middle linebacker. The last is a very good sophomore who was sick all week. Do I think we would have won with those 3 kids? Well, it is impossible to judge, but I know it would have helped tremendously. So, before you write off OF based on the score, know that there are some reasons that we struggled on defense.

Wow, now I understand why Coach Huckabay goes berserk when/ if he finds out any of his kids read any message boards. I understand the comments. Newton has a coach and tradition that has been there for 30 years and I have total respect for him, and his program. However, Coaching is a huge part of any sport, especially high school football. The problem at OF is they have been coached down for the last several years. What does that mean? You know, "well we don't have a chance here, we can't win that game either, well if we really play well we might can be competitive in that one".... That kind of coaching makes for a mentality of losing. The saying, "winning is a habit, unfortunately so is losing," couldn't be more true here. I can tell you one thing, our boys aren't scared, and they are going to play very hard Friday night, regardless of the outcome. That in itself is a huge change and a welcome one.

And the point I am trying to make, and I will slow it down for ya'll... I .... paid.....for.....ALL....of....them. It....had....nothing...to...do...with...who...could...afford...it...or....not. It...was...a...sponsorship...not....charity...See???
