Alto has always had good baseball teams.  I remember meeting them several times back in the late 70's early 80's.

How many schools are considered "east Texas"?    If you are going to say that east texas consists of every school south of Oklahoma, and east of I-45, until you get within 75 miles of the coast, then "southeast Texas" is a pretty small area without many schools.  What does that leave?  A couple of 5A schools and maybe a dozen 4A?  You would think that "east Texas" would naturally have more playoff caliber teams, regardless of talent.

This thread has gotten way off track.  The question was, "should the stadium be named after Thomas?"  I think most would say no.   Somehow, this became an attack on BISD.    It's not perfect, but nobody is going to come in here and make it perfect.   Way too many different problems for that.  It's arguable  whether Thomas has done a good job.  BISD is better than it was, so he has done some good things.  Could he do some things better?  Probably.  Who  couldn't? But there is just no way to compare Beaumont to a small community school.  Each has their own problems, and plusses.

No biggie.  I might even watch a couple of the play-in games, if I have nothing better to do.
