Rules are often changed and I do think gunning for a linebackers knees every play should be outlawed. JMO

To me, Brook looks a lot like the Central teams we have faced over the last few years. Not tremendous size, but lots of speed all over the field. Didn't see a lot of options from Chaisson or Lewis, but now it seems to be a big part of the offense. I kinda got used to lining up and blowing teams off the ball. It's going to take a little more trickery now, and we are going to have to be able to complete a good % of passes.

You are right about that. You did predict this. I dissagree with you in that you say Ozen needs athletes. Ozen have athletes. they just wasn't put in positions to do damage last night... Or the more simple solution.... Brook stopped them from doing damage. The score board tells the tale, I guess. Maybe I should fess up and say that Brook is that good and Ozen is bad?? It's hard to be a critic from the stands at this level....we don't accept dropped balls, penalties, or turn overs as part of the game. Ozen did not look that bad and West Brook did not look that good, both teams will make drastic improvements in the weeks to come....their youth will get more and more comfortable as the season rolls on and the penalties, dropped balls, and turn overs will be minimized....we'll be alright 8) 8) 8) Nah. One other thing. Our kicker looked pretty good. he missed a 42 yarder, just short, but he looked solid on the PATs. First time in the last couple of years that I feel we might win one on a field goal.

I just got back from the game. I was really impressed by the athletes Brook has on defense. Very fast to the sidelines and got decent pressure on the QB all night. Concerned about size up front, and youth all around, but they are an athletic bunch of kids. Offense is going to need a lot of work. Looked like 3 of the Oline were Sophs. Soulja is right about Reyes. He is going to need to get rid of the ball on his first read more. Seemed like he pumped on almost every pass play. Don't know if he is misreading defenses or he just is a little hesitant to pull the trigger. Overall, we are better off than I thought, but maybe a year away from being really competitive again. Should be a good match up with the jags.

Actually, i've heard it from MANY reliable people that were on that side and heard it for themselves... I'm not disagreeing with you in the least bit. But the Kelly chanting was provoked by the vidor stands shouting vulgar insults to Kelly players on the sidelines. OK I hate to be the voice of reason but, Lets get back to talking about the game. There will aways be stupid people in the world. It does not matter what community you are in. Enough said! Great game though! I agree. Nothing to be gained. Kelly played well, and Vidor played better.

Everyone I saw was very respectful, cheering for the Vidor band, etc. In fact, I saw the same from the Vidor fans. I just hate it when someone comes on with a broad brush and tries to paint a whole community a something that they are not.

Look, I was up and down everywhere except maybe that one little section where Kelly kids were all dressed in weird costumes. Something may have come from those kids, but to say generally that the kelly fans/parents were chanting that stuff, is at best, a gross exaggeration. Well, Vidor is not as good as I thought they might be. Don't start smiting, because I am pulling for you guys to win district. Vidor is way suspect in defending the pass. They are pretty big, but I was very surprised at how well a way undersized, overmatched Kelly team hung in there in the trenches. Vidor did finally manage to wear them down, but that's not going to happen in 4A. A win is a win, but the Pirate fans(and there were a lot) have to be a little concerned at the way Kelly moved the ball at times.

Coaches don't expect "respect" just because the are coaches. They earn it. And I don't mean earn it with wins verses losses. If they show good character, and teach the kids not only sports, but sportsmanship as well, they earn my respect every time, regardless of the number of wins they get. I hate to see a good person get trashed because his team can't live up to the communities' expectations. In high school, you have to play with what you have, and sometimes the cupboard is a little bare.

Ozen fresh beat Brook fresh 38-8. Brook had twice as many kids on the sideline, but they are soft and don't seem to know any plays. That was ugly.

I'm with Legend on this one. When a Mod tells you to take your crap somewhere else, it's hard to tell if you are being reprimanded for a rule violation, or it's just regular trash talk. I can see how that might be misinterpreted. Just saying.....
