Biden tried to tell you, maybe you weren't listening. [Hidden Content] And how do you know that? Why would he say anything about it, I mean it would only make Biden look bad. It was smart to just let it go, who knows what was said behind closed doors, I doubt you do. I "doubt" anybody on here really knows what happens about anything that goes on in Washington. I "doubt" you know much of anything about me. My opinion, based on the current relationship between the two(as far as I can tell from down here in Southeast Texas) is that it didn't bother Obama. Is that better? :

It's interesting that some try to make a big deal out of it and the guy who might have been insulted, obviously thought nothing of it. ???

My son did both. I can say, I enjoyed the league much more, as a parent. Yeah, you have to work a little, but it was worth it. And, to me, there is no competition like allstars, where you get a whole community of people at the games, with community pride on the line. I just never really experienced that in select tourney play. It was almost like, oh well we lost. Ho hum. There will be another one next week. The positive for select is obviously, you can play a lot more games. I think that is much more important as the kids near high school age.

Something like you are doing now?

Politicians are always going to highlight their strongpoints, as well they should.

Glad to see you believe that debating skills have nothing to do with intelligence. The thought of the premise is absurd. Some of the most intelligent people in history may have been lousy debaters. Some of the best debaters have probably been of fairly low intelligence. One is a skill, one is knowledge. As far as the speaking skills, as you said, it does not equate to intelligence or the lack thereof. The point is, many (if not most) Democrats love to point at the debating skills of Palin. If you have ever heard Obama speak off the cuff, he sounds like a buffoon. The guy sometimes makes Bush look like a great orator. That doesn't make Obama wrong but by the same token, it doesn't make Palin wrong either. Obama and Palin are very similar in that both can give a great speech when it is written in front of them (by someone else) and stumble when it is unprepared. As far as Palin being the Veep, look at Biden's speaking skills. The guy is almost a laugh a minute when he utters something. Apparently speaking skills and intelligent though aren't requisites from the Democratic Veep. Fair enough. Problem is, most of us don't really get to know the candidates, except what we see during public appearances. If they don't come across very well, they get labeled dumb or stupid. Maybe we should make them all take a written test to qualify. ???

Do you honestly think that the ability to debate makes a person intelligent? Do you honestly think that not having good debating skills means that someone is lacking in intelligence? I would like to see how well some of the Democrats in this forum do in a debate. Apparently that is the only sign of intelligence that matters. From reading many of these posts, I think that it would be a tough sell. Debating skills don't equal intelligence, although I feel pretty certain I can hold my own against some of the republicans on this forum. But for some reason, about every day, I see a post that talks about teleprompters. If it's not important, as you say, why do the repubs keep bringing up public speaking skills? Are you kidding me? The liberals brought up public speaking skills for 8 years during Bush's terms. Granted he was not a good public speaker but he was real. You people have got to stop being so offended any time someone criticizes B.O. I see. This is your way of avenging negative Bush comments. It's really not important to you if BO uses a teleprompter or not.

You are probably right about this but one thing that also helped Obama get elected is the things he promised which have not happened since he as been elected, he told the sheeple what they wanted to hear and now he is doing whatever he wants with the help of congress. Who are the "sheeple" 77? Is that a name you call anyone that voted for Obama?

I heard it was something like 13-3

Jasper 11's are a good team.

This dumb as a sack of rocks seems to one of your favorite expressions. Rather that just throw these barbs out, tell us how many conversations you had with Ms. Palin and what did you use to make your "Dumb" assessment of her. Well, let me guess; you've never spoken to her have you. You did hear some of her speeches and some of her responses to questions. The speeches were good - the responses were not. Now answer this inquiry: how do you feel you would have done being bombarded by the same people with the same questions. I don't care if you answer me, but be truthful in your answer to yourself. I'm not dumb, at least not as a sack of rocks, but I know that had the media been grilling me on the wide array of subjects that were thrown at Ms. Palin my responses would have indeed been sketchy at best and more probably uninformed pretty much across the board. I certainly believe that she was uninformed and beyond naive (I've already stated that) in what she was expecting to take place. But, as some of you are so quick to point out - this is a forum and you can state your opinion in any way that you want. And with your continous use of the sack of rocks expression it causes me to wonder if we have a rock that is envious of a sack of rocks. You are using logic and that don't fly with the left. oooh, that's a new one. :

kudos Tiger. I usually can't read one that long, but that was well done.

On a clear day, she can see it from her house. ;D

Heck our President can't express himself without a teleprompter. He couldn't even have a real town hall meeting. The people he called on were from the DNC! Even Helen Thomas (who is as liberal as they come) was tearing into him for controlling the media. Said its never been this bad. Another teleprompter post. : He smoked every candidate thrown at him in debates, of any type. Criticize him for his policies if you think it is necessary, but to say that he isn't a good public speaker, well that's just silly.

Making my first trip to the Keys

I have a friend that has a pier on (Sabine Lake)pleasure island. If you guys want to go night fishing with a fly rod and catch a ton of undersized reds. trout, etc. let me know. With about a weeks notice, I can get us on. -
Nederland has a nice program right now. However, the historical information on this site says they have finished 1st once between 1996-2006. If they were much larger than their competitors(think North Shore) their record would be more impressive. That's all I'm saying. You will have up and down years unless you are bigger than most of your opponents. WOS is obviously a great program. I am sure there are other exceptions across the state, as well. But even mighty WOS had four 4th place finishes in the 5 years before they dropped to 3A.

Long term results? The only way you will win every year is to have the biggest school in the district every year. I mean, with all the tradition, and their feeder schools, where has PNG been the last 10 years? I'm just saying, it's not limited to Beaumont. Nearly everyone has ups and downs

My friends. Thanks for all the great advice. : -
My family is staying at Marathon key. Any fishing advice?

I think the score was Amelia 11's 6-1 over WELL 11's. Amelia had a big kid pitching who also hit a 2-run bomb.

It's a big overpass type bridge. with a hump in the middle. I don't know what you call it, but it will be pretty tall. -
Almost anything. I like soft baits(cocahoe minnows, shrimp tails, etc) that have some white on them. They hit spoons well also.
-
Amelia beat Jasper, something like 13-4. West End is probably the favorite, and this group of kids went to state as 11's, and was one win away as 12's(Tomball beat us two straight out of the loser's bracket, after we beat them earlier, and they won state) but we are missing several kids from that group.

There were a couple of games last night, but I haven't heard the results.
