  1. Good job Brook. Tough year without Svoboda, but they are still battling.
  2. Weird play last night. runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs. grounder to third. 3B steps on third and throws to first for the double play. runner now at 2nd thinks there are 3 outs and heads for the first base dugout(toward first) Meanwhile, first baseman has thrown the ball back to pitcher. when defense sees runner from second, they try to get him but he dives into first. Can you steal first base from 2nd?
  3. I was referring to the 12's. They are the ones that get all the coverage. I'm not sure how our 13-14's stack up. we have a pretty small league at that age. Like everyone else, some players are lost to select. I know we went to state last year,(13-14) but that was a strong group of kids. we should be competitive.
  4. Did HJ pitch their new 91 MPH lefty?
  5. Ha ha. We have always feared Buna. Great bunch of fans.
  6. I caugth and released one just over 10# at Spindletop Bass Club several years ago. One morning, I caught two 8 pounders on Rayburn, both on Slugos.
  7. I say West End wins their district and the sectionals. Who is gonna beat em?
  8. Is it so hard for you to comprehend people that actually have the kids interest first? Does anyone that makes that statement have to have an ulterior motive? ??? ??? Those opposed to the bond also have the kids interest at heart. They just don't want to waste money on unecessary expenses(like a 1.8 million dollar pressbox) Why not put some of those things in a separate bond? I think most would vote for upgrading classrooms. The ulterior motive is, they want the bond passed(even with the wasteful spending) and they defend it by saying it's for the kids.
  9. Same old pork story. They don't want to you have the option to vote down the football field. If you vote against the proposal, you hate the kids. Already been there, in Beaumont.
  10. I've also followed the Rangers since I was a kid. Was a fan of Toby Harrah. They still din't have enough pitching after 30 years.
  11. I'm gonna miss him, if only for the entertainment value. :'(
  12. Believe it or not, at this point, I have to say Central. They are riding high and Brook lost a lot. Will be interesting to see if the younger guys can step up and hang on to the Beaumont trophy this year.
  13. Just asking. Didn't they lose a couple of games to local teams this year?
  14. Clearly, because of automatic bids, the best 65 don't get in the NCAA. My guess is Baylor is a top 35 team.
  15. Tough question. I think Baylor is much better off for having gone to the NIT.
  16. Also keep in mind that the proposed tax rate is still actually lower than the tax rate we paid in 2005 as our school tax rate has actually decreased over the past couple of years. This sounds like the same message we heard in Beaumont. Are folks really paying less in taxes now, or did they just jack up the property values to offset the lower rate?
  17. Wow! 1.8 million for just the press box? How big is the thing?
  18. Uh, last basketball game I saw there were cheerleaders there and a portion of the band,
  19. Even if Ned wanted to play Brook, it can't happen. Brook is forced to play Ozen and Central in preseason. I like the Beamont bowl, but, Brook needs to play 5A after that. Nederland just doesn't fit very well with the schedule.
  20. I think it was 12-7 at half. Very few left. FAB RI CA TION!
  21. What game was it? I didn't ask about profit.
  22. You need to attend a better game. In fact, I believe that is an Outright fabrication. More than half? What game did you see this at? I saw Central and Ozen play a few times, and I never saw that. So where was it?
  23. That's not why 1000's are there. NEXT!
  24. Because it draws 10 times as many fans as basketball, maybe?
