  1. Yeah, I saw Bill Cosby try to tell "the truth" and he was widely criticized by those "common thinkers"
  2. The only basketball teams in this area that have any support(and therefore profit) are the ones that are winning. I guarantee that WB showed no profit in basketball. On the other hand, even losing teams get great support in football.(see PNG) Want to know why? People like football better. That means something.
  3. This wind must be blowing straight out!
  4. I hear ya. You would have to be pretty dumb to predict a lopsided victory against a good team.
  5. sounds like Lumberton gave them all they could handle. I guarantee you that FF would have been on here already had it been a blowout. He is feeling a little silly right now, but he will be back.
  6. In case you aren't sure, I prefer Newton Silsbee, HJ WB, Ozen, all of Orange County, Pt Arthur and Mid county over anybody in stinking Houston.
  7. For most in this area, basketball is a game to keep up with, just like baseball, until football season rolls around. The noted exceptions, like HJ, OZEN, etc. are rare. You want to compare popularity of the sport? What is the biggest single event of the year? I love March Madness. It's a great setup. But, NBA playoffs verses NFL is no contest. Surely you can get your head out of the gym long enough to admit that. Who do you think has higher TV ratings? College football championship game or ncaa final? You think football attendance is higher because 200 parents watch their kids in the band and another 100 watch their kid in the drill team? Oh yeah, maybe another 100 for the extra players. Do the math. Local teams may have had more success in basketball at the state level over the years, but football is still more popular.
  8. Is this thread supposed to be serious? No comparison in this area. Just watch this board light up come August: that should tell you all you need to know. :
  9. Yeah, it was kinda funny at first, now it's getting old.
  10. Well, I hit Sabine yesterday afternoon and it was a little slow. Caught 5 keepers in three hours, but all solid fish. They weren't a shallow as before. By the way, what's up with all the grass on the Louisiana shoreline? I've never seen it out in the water like that.
  11. Little League requires a bat with a diameter of no more than 2 1/4 inches. Pony and select allow larger bat diameters, usually 2 5/8 or 2 3/4.
  12. When did they get phone service in Buna? ;D
  13. We couldn't even put togethor a fish dinner. How are we supposed to get enough for a fishing tourney?
  14. We use it through the age of 8. I hate the way it bounces, but it is safer for those who don't catch too good yet.
  15. You guys still use the RIF 5's at that age?
  16. If this happens, I have a 17 ft aluminum bass boat, but I'm gonna need a guide. I fished Rayburn a little, years ago and know the midlake area some(black forest area). somebody let me know if they need a partner.
  17. I hate to say. Better let someone who knows the real story provide that kind of info.
  18. Some kids only started one game the whole season? At West End, they have a rule. If you didn't start the previous game, you start the next. That's the rule until majors.
  19. Keepers? All solid fish in the 16-20 inch range.
  20. Rumor I hear is that he might be done for the year. :'( That's just hearsay. Anyone know his real status?
  21. Lot's of trout shallow right now.
  22. At that age, load up the infield. You for sure want to get the easy outs(grounders to 1st, 2nd, pitcher) and outfielders at that age are usually just chasers anyway. WW
  23. Do you guys think that other cities don't have kids moving around to play at their strongest schools? The Ozen magnet program is not the only one in Texas.
  24. I like the idea of getting the ball to your playmaker, but don't forget, they went playaction on 3rd down and hit a kid wide open at the 15. Good player who catches that ball 99% of the time. Hard to blame that on the play calling.
  25. I'm headed to Junction at least once during the season. Hope this rain helped the drought situation out there.
