Here's an article from the Galveston County News: Mustangs get .500 record By Corey Roepken The Daily News Published February 12, 2009 FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood High School girls soccer team is the class of all 4A teams in Region III, but so far this season the Lady Mustangs feel like they’re barely passing their tests. It took until Tuesday’s District 24-4A opener against Texas City — a 3-0 victory — for Friendswood to get its overall record to .500 for the first time. The Mustangs (6-6-2) began the season with an 0-3-1 performance at the Dallas Highland Park Tournament that featured the best 4A teams in Texas. Coach Laura Peter said the team has struggled with injuries and illnesses, but mostly inconsistency and a lack of finishing have been the biggest areas of blame. “The seniors are as frustrated as I have been,†Peter said. “They know we haven’t played our best at times. They expect a lot out of themselves. “We just don’t know what else to do. No wonder we haven't heard much from FF. :D

Maybe there is too much pressure on the coaches to win. I see too many kids who are not having fun playing high school sports(even starters---so don't think this is a poor Johnny post). It's a shame, really. I have nothing but fond memories of my high school coach, including practice. Some coaches haven't yet figured out that you can teach kids to play, and still have fun with them. This goes for little league/select as well.

Unless he is really big, I wouldn't go -3 just yet. I doubt this is the last bat you will buy anyhow, so go with something a little lighter and let him gradually step up from the little league weights. JMO

Coach Sutherland and his staff are cordially invited to come screw up the Westbrook program. ;D

Westend1 you must follow Westbrook. You have seen LCM and PNG. Who has the better team in your opinion? LCM Agree with BigMac. Svoboda shut down PNG. He got hit hard by LCM.

Bullets, I like you. But, you have no idea. He has been caught(unlike many others) and he can now go either way. He wakes up or he is a bad kid. Give him his one chance to prove he was just stupid. If he screws up again, I am with you.

Ha ha. There were kids I would never take, back in my youth coaching days simply because I didn't want to deal with their parents.

Only drug misdemeanors? So theft is not on the list?

You do realize that a traffic violation is a misdemeanor? Have all your kids with misdemeanors been suspended?

I don't get it. If you have a bad waiter, or mechanic, or lawyer, complain all you want, but never question a coach.

The teachers and coaches at all these schools know who the dopers are. They could kick them off before they get caught, but they don't. It's still about winning.

I was asked how I discern a good from a bad one. Why don't you tell us how to do it if you know so much? Do you truly believe that nobody should question a coaches judgment? Sounds like you are the robotic fool. ps---I never asked for credibility in your eyes. Means nothing to me. and, I'm sorry that you can't tell the difference between a good coach and a bad one. :D

I think DickV is pulling your legs.

I guess that is the way it is handled at BISD. I know of two other kids busted for possession that both play sports and they are both still playing. However, my guess is that their coaches don't know anything about it.

I say suspend him, but if all you other guys think you don't have a few dope smokers on your teams, then you are a little naive.
