Kelly football involved in some spying????
westend1 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Surely this isn't going anywhere. 1) sounds like the parent was straight up with them. a spy would have lied and said he was a St Thomas fan 2) Kelly didn't even try to win the game from the sound of things 3) St Thomas won big. What else do they want? These dang christian schools are tough. ??? -
Walks kill you. whether it's little league or big league.

At tyler this year, i had a parent keeping a book for me. When an opposing batter came up, the parent informed me that the kid had hit up the middle during his previous at bat. The ump warned me that i could not talk to fans. Are you kidding? Some of the rules have gotten completely out of hand.

But then again there are some parents out there that act like fools and will ruin an awsome ball player.....
Really, what is with the talk of Lawyers and Legal Papers?
The lawyers are for the crybabies at USSSA. Crying that ford park wasn't gonna let them in, so daddy went and got a lawyer.
You seem to think you know something. let us in on it.
Economic growth increased at its fastest in a year in the third quarter as consumers and businesses set aside fears about the recovery and stepped up spending, creating momentum that could carry into the final three months of the year. Though part of the increase came from the reversal of temporary factors that had restrained growth, the expansion was a welcome relief for an economy that looked on the brink of recession just weeks ago...... Lets wait and see how the Rep. spin this one......
Liberal media. It's all lies. -
I've kept my opinion to myself for a while but now I have to say something. My two sons are very much into sports and have been since a very early age (baseball, soccer, basketball, football). They choose to do these sports - they are never forced into it by my husband and I. I know for a fact that some coaches are partial to their own kids. I know for a fact that some coaches take their dislike/anger at a parent out on the child (briefly: my oldest was drafted onto a baseball team (Bridge City Pony League) because the head coach thought that I would send more business his way through my job; when I said I have no control over who gets hired for the jobs, my son was suddenly off the starting lineup and played the minimum. I'm not stupid, I know why that happened) Both boys have had some bad experiences and they have had some really GREAT experiences with coaches. I have always told them that if they have an attitude then they deserve to be benched. If they are being punished for something that I did, then I will take care of it. If the child was not played because of a bad attitude; then, well, so be it. The attitude of one child can mess with the attitude of the whole team. If the child was calling names and being rude, and was allowed to continue doing so just because he is a good player, that doesn't set a very good example for the rest of the team. I'm sure it would make the other players ticked and then they would have an attitude then. If the child was not played for some personal vendetta on the coaches part, then shame on him for being so childish and selfish. Not only are the kids playing this sport because they want to (I hope), but they PAID for the opportunity to do so. It really seems to me like it was a combination of the child with a bad attitude and the personal vendetta of the coach that led to the child being benched and not played as much as daddy wanted. I'm glad that my son has good coaches and I have no reason to complain about how much he plays and how he is treated.
I suspect I know why he got less play time down in BC, and it is a different reason that what you think. -
Heck, I read on here last year where some coach got tossed for going to the bathroom without permission. :o

You need a lawyer to read them all.
Westend 1, they are written on a 5th grade level, are you kidding me?
Not at all. Read that stupid book. Try to sort out which rules apply for regular/all stars. They change in the middle of the season. When I coach all stars, i always worry if I might screw something up. Not only that, they change some rule every year. You think you know all the rules and then you go back and look, and something has changed.
The following post is not directed at any particular sport or organization: As a parent who's experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly of youth sports (as a player and parent), I have some advice. You need to look at the big picture. What are your goals for your son's participation in youth sports? For my kids, I want them to learn the sport, learn sportsmanship, learn teamwork, have fun, and get ready for school ball. I tell my kids that they are to do their best no matter what position they are assigned. They don't have a dad that coaches, so they get put wherever they are put. Sometimes, they love their coaches, sometimes not...but they are always respectful, same as they would be to a teacher. It is disheartening to see them passed over for all-stars when you know that they deserve it talent-wise. However, they're going to be adults with jobs one day. They're going to have bosses they don't like and coworkers who get ahead through politics. All of these different experiences help prepare them for life. You're going to experience varying degrees of politics in different towns and organizations. You can't let it drive you crazy or piss you off. You can borrow my mantra, if you want. Just one more year and then it's school ball!!
Hate to break it to you, but it's really not much different. -
I guess it means Holland would have 3 days rest. Won't see carpenter or Wilson, but Holland theoretically could see action in game 7, if necessary.
I understand, just trying to add what was told me from someone at the academy. I don't care who comes in there. I for one am not going to pay for more insurance just to play a couple of tourny's.
I believe(not positive) that we purchased one policy and it was accepted by both organizations.
I asked Jason Tyner on here the other day if Ford Park was going USSA and this was the response: The Baseball Academy is only going to be running Nations events. I didn't hold him out because I was angry, I held him out because they didn't need him until we were behind and wanted him to bail them out. I agree with the assessment of his attitude, but I don't have that issue with him at home. I am not able to be there with him at practices, so not sure what happens there. I have coached kids with agressive behavior before and would like to think that I did everything I could to help them. I would never try to sweep it under the rug. The defensive coach did a great job and got the most out of him, so why couldn't the offensive coach? That's my point and I will leave it at that.
you should have let your son bail them out, its a team sport and he is on the team, don't teach him to do things out of spite.
Again, agreed. Why not let him be the "hero" and bail them out? Who got hurt by your decision? The youth coaches? Not hardly. -

He does have an attitude, but lots of kids do in every sport. I expected his coaches to maybe sit him or work with him, but that didn't happen. He's not perfect, but to just ignore the problem isn't acceptable to me. He needed a positive role model to work him thru it and didn't get that.
ndndad, with the limited knowledge that I have of the situation, I will make the following comment. The attitude problem is mainly YOUR responsibility more than the coaches. They get to coach him a few afternoons a week and at game time along with 25 or so other kids. Your are his Dad, and you should have a hand in this too! Additionally, if you did not allow him to play QB when the coach wanted to send him in...let's just say that situation speaks for itself. I would bench a starter in a heartbeat if he could not come to the field with a good attitude and TEAM focus. I hope he has a great playoffs and a bright future.
Couldn't have said it better. Good luck to you and your kid, but holding him out because you were upset is not the proper way to handle things like this. Your son is acting like his favorite role model...YOU. -

Yea its disappointing that he didn't make the team, but the point is he was basically pushed aside so they wouldn't have to deal with it. I've coached youth sports for 15+ years and would NEVER do such a thing.
Not sure I undertstand. Deal with what? Did he have an attitude? -

Everybody's kid is always one of the best ones on the team. It's one of the reasons why it is hard to be a youth sports coach. Thankless job in a lot of ways. -

What's up with that?
Who is bringing USSSA to Ford Park? USSSA is a youth sports organization, Nations is a baseball organization. I dont see the need for two organizations locally competing for weekend tournaments, in addition to the local Little Leagues. Bring the talent down from Nebraska, they will learn about the SE Texas boys. What are your thoughts Westend1?
I don't know. We did USSSA and Nations for a while. Didn't notice much difference. Pay enough money and you eventually get to a "world series". I do agree that we already have enough tourneys at Ford Park. Seems like there is one every weekend. I guess that's ok as long as they keep filling them up.
