Ozen actually had a pretty decent crowd at the Brook game.

Jaguars and Panthers are nothing but cats. They're better off chasing the 4A rats. A bear is a beast of another type, they come in this year without all the hype. One cat is down wasn't much of a show The bears did enough now the Panthers eat crow. The jags are up next don't expect a big fight The trophy is ours come Saturday night. Brook definitely has less talent than in the last few years.  I think a couple of guys are going to have to go both ways, or our defense will not be able to stop anybody at the line of scrimmage.  I didn't help losing the starting DT in the first quarter.  We may beat Central, but overall, I could see why we are projected to finish 4th in district.

A friend and his buddy caught 20 keepers wading in the Louisiana pocket this weekend.  Total weight 42 pounds took second in the Aggie tourney.  Most of the large ones were caught on topwaters.  That is some fun fishing.

Beaumont takes on ORWALL at 1:00 today for the right to go to State.

You need 2 boats.    ;D    I would look at a 24' Pathfinder.  Kind of pricey, but a nice boat.  I have a friend with one and he runs to the short rigs with no problem.

Amelia-West End beat Port Neches tonight.  Now waiting on winner or Orwall/Port neches

Beaumont wins!  On to sectionals.

Took my 24 ft Robalo to the B rock yesterday.    70 miles of bumpy water has me a little sore today.     2 snapper each, even though they were good size, hardly makes that trip worthwhile.  Caught a 15 pounder at a rig about 40 miles out on the way home.   Burned 95 gallons of fuel.   I'm thinking those snapper cost us about #30 per pound. OK  I have a couple of friends with lighted piers on south Pleasure Island.  Next week, two lefties, me and Three Balls, take on Hippy and TVC for all the marbles.  Losers change parties.  Who is in?

I have coached and volunteer umpired for many years and I will put in my 2 cents.  i don't like umpires who look for every excuse to show me as a coach how many rules they know.  As an ump, I would never embarrass a volunteer coach on some technical rule, and would always try to do a warning in private.  That said, it might be a good thing that these umps act like they do at early levels.  It's better to know now that you could get tossed for these types of violations than to wait until a game at sectionals or state. Obviously, it sounds a little harsh to toss a kid or coach for a momentary lapse of judgment or for a bathroom break, but now there will be no excuses if it happens again.
