UMMMMM.............you aint right. That is the ugliest dog i have ever seen. Looks like a gremlin after they get wet. -
Yeah i saw the Rip-Currents chart last week and it was a pretty jagged line that was at about 18miles out of freeport heading south west toowards the east breaks and and about 30 miles due south of freeport towards the 504 block, and almost to the clay piles out of galveston. I'm hoping it has moved in some with the warm water surge we had last week.

here is a link to the NFWS waterfowl survey video. It's kinda long, i haven't watche dthe entire thing yet. [Hidden Content]

wow that is impressive. 300+ lb bluesuit in 45 minutes. That can only be due to complete team work between captain, angler, and crew. A lot of boat work went in to that fight. I wonder how green the fish was when leadered it? I hate they had to kill it with the shortage of blues migrating through the gulf canyons. Anyone know if they have started the circle hook only for bill-fish in the gulf? I know the gulf council was considering it a while back.

That is why i like fishing the reef. Everybody is out soaking bait in the channel and leaves the reef and all it's feeding redfish, flounder, and black drum to me.

How far out to the blue water line?
-
sounds like fun....i havn't caught crappie in a couple years. For just wade fishing ,the Annahuac refuge is a much better place but catching the conditions right are hard.

NOW THAT GETS THE BLOOD FLOWIN............TIC TOC......TICTOC............ -
PNG that warm rater line has moved closer in to galveston so hopefully you'll be able to find blue water. I'm pretty sure the pocket of cooler water is due to the runoff from the river (trinity that is). We may be going out sunday, on the century but i don't know yet.
-
i'm sure you can do it with a 30w i know for sure a 50w reel. It's all about the angler and captain working absolutely together when it comes to big fish. I didn't see the if the rod was in the picture or not.

I don't know if you look the feed sack is ripped open and the string that ties it is right at the animals feet. It's laying sideways not longways. That would make it smaller than a coyete. The biologists tissue sample is what is saying silver fox. NOTE: that is according to channel 11 news the other night. (can't guarentee that accuracy either) -
not all at once........but till i got sick prolly. I would grill what i didn't eat on the boat or right when i got home. I have a lot of people wanting tuna so a hundred pound fish would be dispersed pretty quickly. I prolly wouldn't keep any more tha n that. shoot after fighting that fish i'd be wooped.

well next time you go, if it's an outgoing tide....walk out on the bay side, galveston side of the channel (walk in right by the bait house) all of the flat back to the left is a live oyster reef. Most of it will be about shin deep. when you get into the oysters you will know iff the fish are feeding. look for tails sticking out of the water and schools of bait acting erratticly. If the water is clear try a topwater (superspook, or top dog) It will help keep you out of the oyster. If that doesn't work try gold spoons or the best back up a cork rigged with a short leader (5" of 30lb test) and no weight with a kahle hook and gulp bait (crab works best, shrimp will work). You will be sight casting to the fish so don't waste time with water your not sure about, just move throgh the reef until spot them and then try not to spook em while you fish. It can a little mucky in places but overall it isn't to bad, just make sure you got good shoes.

I saw this posted on another site. Definantly a beautiful fish. Here's a question to ponder........(not to start any rucass, everyone has different ethics and none of them are necessarily wrong) Given the data of the large fish possibly carrying the ciguatera bacteria , especially a grouper of this size, and just the matter of the amount of meat it contains as far as eating and storeing. Would you keep it or take pictures and release it? I personally would release it. I just personally can't justify keeping a grouper that big much less the lack of storage. But on the same token I wouldn't hesitate to keep a 100+ pound yellowfin. Fresh sashimi is my weekness.

yep....the last trip i made out of POC going out to the east breaks and falcon buoy weather was showing 2-4ft seas subsiding to 2ft and it was 8ft ground rollers when we got to falcon and didn't do anything but aquire a surface chop. needless to say we booked it back in at daybreak. The Pen Internaional never came out of the cover.......

It would be nice to have a somewhat north wind to help blow this fresh water out. Especially with the full moon tides coming up.
-
either i'm reading that model wrong or it shows the center of circulation to be over baton rouge by saturday? That would be good for us. Gives us a north to west wind at 5-10knts also. hopefully a light north wind.

If I ever go to war Mom, Please don't be afraid. There are some things I must do, To keep the promise that I made. I'm sure there will be some heartache, And I know that you'll cry tears, But your son is a Marine now, Mom, There is nothing you should fear. If I ever go to war Dad, I know that you'll be strong. But you won't have to worry, Cause you taught me right from wrong. You kept me firmly on the ground, yet still taught me how to fly. Your son is a Marine now Dad, I love you Oorha, Even if I die. If I ever go to war Bro, There are some things I want to say. You've always had my back, and I know it's my time to repay. You'll always be my daybreak, through all of life's dark clouds, Your brother is a Marine now, Bro, I promise I'll make you proud. If I ever go to war Sis, don't you worry bout me, I always looked out for you, but I can't do that anymore, Cause I'm a big bro to all in America. I love you so much and you know that, Your brother a Marine now Sis, So wipe your eyes, I'll be fine even if I die. If I ever go to war my Friends, We'll never be apart, Though we may not meet again, I'll hold you in my heart. Remember all the times we had, Don't let your memories cease, Your friend is a Marine now, Dear Friend, And I'll die to bring you peace. And when I go to heaven, And see that pearly gate, I'll gladly decline entrance, Then stand my post and wait. I'm sorry Sir I can't come in, I'm sort of in a bind, You see I'm still a Marine Sir, So I can't leave them behind. i

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico... The area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave located just east of the Windward Islands has become a little better organized this morning. An Air Force reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate this area this afternoon. While environmental conditions do not appear especially favorable for development...there is still some potential for this system to become a tropical depression during the next day or two as it moves westward near 15 to 20 mph. Regardless of whether development occurs...this system will likely bring squalls to the Windward Islands during the next day or so. The large area of cloudiness between Bermuda and Nova Scotia is associated with an extratropical low. Formation into a tropical or subtropical cyclone is not expected. A large area of cloudiness and showers has developed over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico in association with an old frontal zone. Some slow development of this system is possible during the next day or two as it remains nearly stationary. Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours. $$ Forecaster Rhome/Beven

yep, that the same system i was talking about. It is right on the edge of the frontal boundry and they worry it might skirt towards us. Path of least resistance. It had monor rotation last night. I don't think it would be more than a tropical depression but heck we don't even need that right now with the saturation around.
-
I agree, looks like that low pressure system is week and should be over land by friday. It's right on the edge of that stationary front.
