UIL screwing with baseball playoffs

Better hope it does not rain a bunch between May 19 and May26th. 2 rounds in 6 days could get hairy if weather is a prob. And before anybody says that is 7 days, I am not counting Sunday which you can not play a UIL contest. This also just lets you know that for some schools and people baseball is one of those Oh Yeah sports, Oh Yeah we have a baseball team too.
How's the knee?
Knee??????? Along with the eyesight......Man you're falling apart ;D -
This must be a New Waverly thing.....Was at a baseball game last May in Bryan where the entire New Waverly side of the stadium was asked to leave the park because of their constant bad mouthing and berading of the umpires.....Hate to lump everyone in the same group, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it ain't a turkey.....
Coach Trawhon helped bring lots of improvements to the Silsbee BB program. However if you look back at last years team he was lucky to get them where they finished. Between youth and injuries he did a remarkable job. Last years district was setup for WOS,OF, and BC and everyone else was shooting for the leftover spots. The AD and admin's at Silsbee have NO control of DISIPLINE at the school and within the program and have not for several years. Thats a fact. Lots of talent but it only gets you so far. The new Coach should do fine this year if they will let him alone and let him coach.JMO
That's ok, cause he's in Bobcat land now.....eventhough he's not involved with baseball, don't think Coach Bennett won't be picking his brain on some issues.
just heard some squads are falling apart. not good but good luck to everyone in district 21-3A
By some squads you mean WOS? I heard that too.....Gotta do what each individual feels like is best for them....
Is Bennett trying to say BC wasn't good when he got here?
BC being good is a given, them along with Jasper are the standard for SE Texas baseball....He was talking about the district they were in those 2 years and how tough it was. You had a quality team in Silsbee that didn't go to the playoffs those 2 years... -

I'm not sure what you consider a "newcomer." Is it new to varsity or new to a district. If it's new to a district, no matter what grade, in 21-3A you have to consider Corey Huckabay from Orangefield. He has fit in with that group and made what was an already good line up even better. Plus, he has played a very good RF and CF.

Whether or not to start Hester made for a lot of second guessing. No one has questioned the dedication of the coaches to the kids, but this is what they always fall back on. I never said anything about Green not being a good coach. Don't put words in my mouth. So you've NEVER been second guessed because you thought a part was the right decision, in your expert opinion, and some one else had a different opinion?

Orangefield 4 WOS 3 Statum 5 IP, 12 K's; Angelle 2 IP, 2 K's, retired the final 6 batters. Anderson (WOS) 7 IP, 7 hits, 2 K's, 2 BB's Good HS ballgame. Had playoff atmosphere, good defensive plays and clutch pitching on both sides. Both Statum and Anderson had to deal with an inconsistent strike zone, but they each showed why they are their teams ace. They battled and made big pitches when needed.

Why is every year Kelly so underated..
bulldog16 replied to sportsfan50's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
After seeing Kelly this weekend in the OF tournament and having just played them, I don't feel as if they are underrated. They are a quality ballclub. They play good defense and they swing the bats. Their pitching is pretty good also. Nothing overpowering, but they throw strikes and spot up very well. I know that OF feels like they beat a quality team this evening. -
Will it be Orangefield vs Lumberton in the Championship game?
Orangefield vs. PA Memorial in the Championship game. Before you people say this will be a cakewalk, Memorial is much improved. Evidently they have some move-ins and they have held their own this weekend. Memorial swings it well and they have shown glimses of playing quality defense. Don't know who Memorial has left to pitch, but I'm sure that Coach McFarlin and Coach McKellar will pull something out of the hat. OF will probably go with Felts.

HS Baseball Tryouts...When Do They Start?
bulldog16 replied to SETXSPORTSJUNKIE's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
1st day of practice is January 29th. The UIL only regulates when after school practice may begin. Each district has policies on tryouts, cuts, etc. Email the head coach at the school, they will give you all the information that you will need. -
No, he's fit in nicely with that group....Boboandblair, I don't know what kind of agenda you have but obviously you have some sour grapes toward the OF kiddos. All that happened was that a new coach came in and showed that you could have some success as long as the internal people believe that they can be successful.
