Nederland always talks big but never delivers.
If you were there and that is what you saw then I need to get you a pair of glasses. It was a very positive scrimmage for both teams in my opinion.
"It was a very positive scrimmage for both teams in my opinion." This may be the best post on all 8 pages.
Seay and Kimbler were all out playmakers both sides of ball. The defense didn't miss a beat last night against a very quick Wos offense. Washington, Mayfield and Malveaux were dominant and they looked very capable of putting heat on anyone at any point last night. The linebackers were effective. Offensive line had one weak link in it and it affected the running game last night. White looked ok. Bordelon made a nice play to come back and get that wing and a prayer. The 2nd QB (Smith) was accurate and would like to have seen him with Seay and Kimbler. Passing game will open up that running game as the offense progresses. Noel is one of the best kickers who has come through in a while. Don't see many "problems" at this point just a few areas where the Dogs can be sharper.
The lefty that came in late at QB was very accurate. I really liked the way he threw the ball. Nothing against the first guy. Just wasn't expecting for the second guy to look that good.

Not much of a report but WOS scored more in both games. Both WOS teams looked pretty good. Not saying Nederland didn't, I'm just not a football guy and I can't watch the game that way. Our freshmen looked very impressive.
-
It's at the high school.
-
That's good to know. I wasn't sure what the format was going to be. Should be good work for both sides. Hope for injury free. Always has been great competition.
-
It's my understanding that freshman and jv will scrimmage at the same time , 5:30. It will be a half field scrimmage for freshman and jv. Varsity will be after that.

Tryouts for 14U team will be held at WOS high school field at 9 in the morning on August 24th and 31st. If you have any questions you can pm me here or my number is 409-882-1943. Thanks Tony Dallas
I'll tell ya what Radio hand, I'll let you know by Nov 1.... Not because I'm not confident, but because I want to make sure we can put that money in a neutral place before gametime.... I was told by a lawyer that as long as the "house" didnt recieve any money, that a personal bet between two people is legal, but I want to make double sure before I accept such a wager. And also, since you insist on betting money, and all of the folks on here say that Silsbee will beat HJ by at least 70, lets take a poll and see what the "line" on that game will be... Since I'm delusional, and you want to throw out a large sum of money, there needs to be a line.... How confident are you putting up that grand and giving me 21 points?
I have read almost 6 full pages of you saying HJ would beat Silsbee and you ask the man to name his bet. He did and now you want points. That's funny!
That's actually just the opposite when you commit to a school like that so early. It takes all the guess work out for other recruiters because they know if you can play there you can play at their school. Alabma has had several of their recruits decommit over the last 3 or 4 years to go to Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Ole Miss and that's just the ones i can remember off the top of my head. Craig Loston was the best high school safety i've seen in the state the last 5 years and he decommitted from Alabama for LSU. Thompson will probably get a dozen more offers but he has to be one of the top two or three safeties in the country to be on Paris' level. Simmons is no lower than the 3rd ranked safety in the state and Shaw is probably only going to be a 3 star. I think the top 2 safeties in the state or 2 of the top three depending on which service you use is the best combo in the state. The recruiters could be wrong though, MQ was great and didn't get a look just like i said he wouldn't when y'all called me a hater.
I think jk meant the best safety tandem in the class of 2015. But to your point, I agree with the fact that Paris has a lot more offers than Thompson at this point. Do you really know how many offers Thompson has at this point? Let me answer that for you. No you don't. You only know of the 6 you see listed. Let me educate you with facts. Thompson has 8 more offers that are not listed because he was told by his dad not to broadcast because he is already committed. When you commit early other schools do shy away because they have other recruits that are not committed that they want to convince to come to their school. And my comment has nothing to do with me being from the "Triangle". I'm telling you the facts.
The kids don't broadcast anything. Recruiting websites list whats on offer sheets dummy. You think they call kids and ask them what offers they have? Heck no, they ask the recruiting coordinators at the offering schools who they have one the sheet. Kids and parents lie about offers all the time so they talk to coaches unless a kid tweets or post offers which they promptly check before they post them on their website. Singleton and Feuerbacher both have gotten offers after they commit. I can tell you have no idea how this thing works. You think Deshawn Washington's phone has stopped ringing? Raelon is committed to Utah and still went to the UT camp. I don't know where you get you facts but you need to kappa shake that bs back to where you got it from. My cousin committed to Kansas and Michigan called til the day he signed. Same for my cousin that went to UT and Miami calling. Teams don't shy away, the come hard after the kids they want until they sign, why do think coaches sit there hovering over the fax machine until the LOIs come in. You sound like those Vidor fans last year. I appreciate that too Bronco. You can come check out one of Crosby's next big receivers if you have time next year. We'll get to see who can do what.
Ouch! Dummy? Wow....let me school you sir, because you obviously don't know jack. Thompson happens to be my SON. NOT my cousin, nephew, but SON. So when I speak about him, you can take that to the bank. No one would have known about the Oklahoma offer had he not tweeted it (research it). Recruiting websites don't call kids asking what offers they have? WRONG! I just got a call today. With all due respect, you MIGHT know a little bit. However, the more you talk on this thread exposes you for how much you DON'T know.
Yeah dummy, that's exactly what I said. The OU offer was on the sheet already which is why I said 5 offers. I know the Lamar, SFA, etc. offers don't show up yet but he's not going to a school like that anyway. You can pm the other 8 you speak of and THEY WILL BE ON THOSE SCHOOL'S 2015 OFFER SHEETS. Yeah they talk to parents, they don't take your word for gospel until they confirm it with the school though. So your boy has 14 D1 offers huh, two of my best friends are college coaches so like I said pm me and prove me wrong. I won't post the schools, I'll just say you're right. Parents have pm'd me before regarding their child and I've never said anything so let me check those 8 secret offers if you don't mind.
That's what you need to do VNUPE, Let this guy check it out so you know the offers are legit???????? :o

My rule was, don't even start teaching until they start growing hair. Sounds kind of funny but I have the same rule about weights. That being said I think my youngest sneaks a few in that he learned from his brother. Main thing is make sure they learn it the right way and have a coach that thinks about pitch count and how many curve balls he throws. My opinion only.

Thank you very much. I'm very proud of the effort the boys gave. We were in a couple of dog fights but they managed to battle to the end. Tony Dallas -
Just about any tennis shoe will do the exact same job. My 14 year old prefers tennis shoes to turf shoes and he does just fine.
I don't remember if we were taught by an adult or if we figured it out for ourselves, but as a youth and also in high school baseball, players always tried to steal signs to give their batters an edge (basically fastball vs off speed was all we were interested in knowing). So, no problem at all with stealing signs. It is part of the game. Teach the kids how to do it and then sit back and see if they are smart enough to figure it out. They will have a blast and will feel a real sense of accomplishment if they start getting it right. However, I would have a problem with parents in the stands or coaches in dugout stealing signs and communicating that info to kids in a youth contest. But with the parents I see at these events these days, nothing would surprise. It is mental instability in it's purest form. There is less and less concern for instruction and more and more concern for the almighty 'W'. Sad really.
It's part of the game unless the hitter is sitting there looking between the catchers legs and that is frowned upon. In that case a message will be sent if game situation allows it. Had it happen this weekend.
Really Rake, you must be the head coach. Like I told you before never been to a a little leauge game but if you guys shape your game after professionals or the college sports than that is sad. At one time I thought high school sports was the puriest form of athletics, I guess I was wrong. Baseball is not the only sport. By the way I never back down from anything. Maybe you should try your luck and see. ;D
As a fan of baseball and a Mustang supporter, I have to agree with Rake. It's the way the game is played. good bad or indifferent BC drops the bat for the next player. As far as leaving helmet and batting gloves for someone to get, that's right too. The guys in the dugout should pick up anyone that was hitting or on base. I don't remember any BC players showing up the umpires. I will say this, I didn't agree with calls for both teams. It's like the strike zone was floating. Congrats to BC on the win.

Nederland Babe Ruth League Spring Open Tournament
td replied to Bulldog Dad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Thanks for putting on a really good tournament. More teams should come get involved. The field is one of the nicest grass fields that we play on from Baton Rouge to Houston. The field was prepared before every game. Umpires were good. A few of the rules are different but we all had to play by the same rules. Over all it was a very good tournament. Thanks and congratulations to the volunteers at the Babe Ruth organization. -

WO-S at HF/Hamshire-Fannett wins 5-2

Kids have just as good and probably better chance at being seen during the summer showcases than in high school. Maybe you aren't familiar with that.

WO-S wasn't even formed until 1978. The 80's and 90's were good years. We were 5A and 4A then. Our numbers have declined. We are excited about our coach and the future of Mustang baseball. Here's hoping we can return to our winning ways one day.
