  1. As the coach, I learned of our fan that acted inapropriately. I talked to him and as far as I know that was the end of it. I never heard of any men threatening any women or men for that matter. I know we handled our business on the field and that's what we were there for. The man got a little too excited when he heard we were supposed to play Thursday instead of Friday. I only have second hand knowledge of what was said. Again my main job is to teach the kids. I agree that our fans are my secondary job. However, I can only fix what I know is broken. So for any other teams, when Orange visits your park, and I (Tony Dallas) am the coach, if we have a kid or parent that is acting up please tell me so I can handle the situation. Thanks again to the ground crew that took such good care of the field. td
  2. Thanks coach! I think the saying goes "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'. Good luck to yall too.
  3. Sunday and Monday. The coaches have a little golf tournamnet to take care of tomorrow.
  4. Thanks to everyone for the positive comments. These kids worked very hard and it paid off. Each and everyone of these kids deserve all of the credit they get. I would also like to thank Dave Pederson, Chad Broussard and Kent Miller. Without these guys we would have never gotten this done. There are countless other dads, moms and grandparents that we had to have to get through our practices. They were long and hard and there were many of them. I'm going to try to refrain from negative comments. However, I want to say this. I'm so proud of the parents and fans from Orange. When we took our loss to Vidor in Shetland, (who was the better team) we stood and cheered and congratulated them until the end. Then our kids went and told them "good luck in the state tournament". What class they showed. Too bad Pinto didn't get the same respect shown to them. Hopefully the kids will continue playing hard and having fun. Thanks to the grounds crew in Sour Lake. The field was in great condition to play on. Thanks to Bob and George for putting on a great tournament. PS That water thing really got under my skin. td
  5. Great job by all of the kids so far. It's been a long time since Groves hasn't made the finals or won the whole thing. What a great run yall have had. I know that you will be back ready next year. Congratulations to Orange 2 for being the last "2" team standing. Don't let up. Orange 2 plays TC 1 tonight at 6 and then Orange 1 plays a very tough Vidor 1 at 7:30. Good luck to all. Go Orange!
  6. Monday night games, Groves 1 beats Vidor 2 Vidor 1 beats Groves 2 Orange 1 will play Vidor 1 on Wednesday night at 8. Good luck to all of the teams still playing. I hope everyone plays good but I must say I hope Orange 1 wins over Vidor on Wednesday. Good luck to Orange 2 tonight against Groves 2. Also playing to night Groves 1 and TC 1. These may not be how they are numbered on the bracket but they are the true 1 and 2 teams. Run fast and play hard.
  7. It's just the Houston treams complaining. The PONY people have the final say (Sorry Bubba). The way it was before this years was, if you came in second in our tournament then you had to go play in Conroe. That was I believea a6 team tournament with the top 2 teams making it to Irving the next weekend. When we went as Shetland there were rain delays that would have caused us to play until Monday. I decided to just take second place and go home for two days. We still went and we ended up winning a game in Irving. The Houston people just want to send two teams from the Houston area instead of one. I say if they're good enough they will beat a team from our area and go anyway. If not then let the best team move on.
  8. Thanks Coach. I hope we can keep it up. Good luck to yall on Tuesday night.
  9. We did play a good game against a very tough Groves team. I think it was one of the best defensive Pinto games I've ever seen. Inning after inning both teams were making unbelievable plays. It was a sight to see. From double plays to plays at the plate to catches with your back against the wall and jumping in centerfield. Good luck to all. Let's keep trying to get our spot at the Regional tournament back we deserve it.
  10. I would also like to congratulate Vidor. They are one of the best base running teams I've seen in Shetland. The tournament in Dallas (Irving) is a blast. If you haven't made reservations you better start now. Any team that thinks they have a shot at going better make reservations. They're easy to cancel. Now what I really want from Orange, Vidor, TC and Port Arthur is to talk to the PONY directors. Everyone of them, every time you see them. We want our Regional back next year. We deserve it. We work hard for it and if we go to Conroe and kick those Houston teams in the mouth and advance to Irving then so be it. I would think that PONY wants the best teams there. Let's not let Houston have their way just because they are bigger. Let the best teams advance. The Regional is only a 6 team tournament. If PONY has to then make it a 7 team tournament. Again great job to the Vidor boys and the Vidor coaches and fans, You too are a class act and I for one as a parent appreciate the applause you gave our boys. Losing is hard on all of us. I think the kids get over it before the adults do. Play hard and have fun. td
  11. I hope it is only rumor that 2 kids quit this team after this win. They seem to be a great squad.
  12. I think the first team should switch if it gives them a better chance to win or the schedule fits what they want to do. I switched two years ago in Shetland. You're right to win the whole thing sooner or later you have to beat the best.
  13. Our Pinto team plays Twin County 1 on the bracket. As i understand it, they really are the #2 team. I think they switched and yall switched and us and Groves stayed the same. Its always fun to see how all of that plays out. Kudos to all of the coaches trying to get their team in the best position to win the tournament.
  14. Thank you. There were three good pictures in the paper and four if you count the one of Chase Rutledge who is in Mustang. Congratulations to Orange Mustang for winning their tournament.
  15. It was a great catch and you had reason to be proud. Catch or no catch I was still proud of the hit. He hit another one to left the next time up and a different kid caught it. He did get one out to left that didn't get caught so he did ok. Yall have a really good team and the most impressive thing abou them is the base running. Keep up the good work. I hope we get another chance Sunday. If we play like we played last night I will expect the same results though.
  16. Thanks Castor! We got word from our coach that everything was cancelled until Monday. I'm trying to call him as we speak. The director has now changed it to Sunday at 6. That stinks for me assuming we (Pinto) win our first game we will then play in Sour Lake Sunday at 5. Oh well that's how the cookie crumbles. We heard from the director that the Vidor guys are saying thier field is ready to go. If it is and Orange's isn't maybe they can get them in there. Good luck to everyone. Especially those working on the field. One thing is for sure, you won't have as many people helping as you could use. However, you will have more than you know what to do with complaining about how the field may or may not look. I say lace em up and get after it and let the best team win.
  17. There hasn't been anything but nice comments on here and I'm glad to finally find a forum where people can be civil. The director is the one that schedules the games. So there is nothing about the games being called off until Monday that makes me go HMMMMMMMM! If you knew how much water has been removed from that field you would know that it is unplayable. Is it unplayable until Monday, well I don't know but if you have any questions about the scheduling call the director before you start throwing stones.
  18. Too bad they didn't put the picture of that child hitting the ball left handed. He sure looks to be in a good hitting position with his head down and front knee locked in. Too bad they didn't get another shot of him hitting from the right side and do a side by side picture. Oh maybe I feel that way becuase I'm biased. It is a good picture of him that Gabriel took and I would love a copy of it. Good luck toOrange if and when they ever get to play again.
  19. Congratulations to Vidor on their win last night. They played better than we did. The base running was impressive. Hopefully we will win our next game and get another shot at Vidor. td
  20. I'm sick and tired of the rain. I'm ready for the tournament to start so I don't have to work on our field and more. Good luck to everyone and we'll see you tomorrow.
  21. Girlplayer, She plays better than most boys so I sometimes forget she's a girl. Everytime I see her smiling face I'm reminded that she is a girl. I'm not sure how she can be so cute and be such a good baseball player too. They played great yesterday, didn't they?
  22. You two are so funny. All we want to do is play our 6 innings and see who can get to the snow cone stand the fastest. As far as Dallas goes, if we are smart we will all make reservations to be there. You can cancel very easy. It's a nightmare trying to find a nice place to stay that's close to the field. So I guess you two are good for something. Too bad we can't all go. Twin County will probably end up going and us three mullets will get to stay home and work. Have a good weekend and stop the rain. I have to go work on the field so my little Shetland boys can play on Sunday. Go figure we have a bye on Saturday. Tony (if you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin) hahahaha
  23. Yall should be ashamed. You both lay low until tournament time and then come beat up on us. We aren't falling for it this year. We are coming ready to play. I just want us to play to our potential and let the cards fall where they will. You two should get together and scrimmage. I know we got alot of good work from playing Vidor and Groves. You two better hope it doesn't come down to the best coach because yall don't have a chance. hahaha I made myself laugh at that one. Good luck, td
  24. Cory - this is Tony Dallas - I talked to Bryan Bost who is the coach for Groves. We scrimmaged him last night and he is looking for another team to scrimmage. I've lost your number, but I have his. Please contact him at 718-8611. If you need to get in touch with me, my number is 409-882-1943. Please reply to this and give me your cell number again. Good luck and let me know if you need anything.
  25. I guess that's where I got confused. I thought when we play in our PONY tournament that Groves has an American and a National team entered in the tournament. Thanks for clearing it up.
