Even if Dan Ray were to retire(which I don't think he is), there are far worse things than to turn this team over to Cornell or Toby. WOS is in good hands as far as I am concerned. One of the top staffs if not the best in our area. Handing the team to Cornell for a few years and then Toby is the way it should be. In fact, I would be in favor of letting Toby get the call. The question is, what will the administration do? Will they pull some lame brain stunt and get some outsider? That could cause several of the current coaches to go elsewhere. That would be a very big mistake!
Nothing would shock me at this point. I understand about what you are saying about giving it to Toby, however, the right thing to do is offer it to Coach T and if he wants it he gets it for as long as he wants. Then Toby will be there to take the torch.
 3. Coach Dan doesn't get to play anymore. He played the hand he was dealt. That's all a high school coach can do.
 4.

As an outsider I'm gonna say Dan Hooks could have left along time ago for bigger and better but he loves his job at WOS.With that being said I vote to kill this thread as there is no valid reason it should have started.
Why kill the thread?  This is a legitimate question and topic, just let the moderators monitor it to make sure it doesn't get out of hand.  The question is "Is this the beginning of the end of the Hooks era?"  Coach Hooks has been coaching for many years and this will ALWAYS be a question to answer after each season whether there is turmoil or not. I'm sure Hooks loves to coach or he wouldn't have hung in there so long, but the real question is "How long does Hooks feel like fighting all of the surrounding issues outside of the X's and O's".  The scary part for wos is that if the fans feel that the school board and officials are making bad decisions and overriding what Hooks wants (after all the things he has done for the school)...then what do you think things will be like when Hooks retires and the board "hand picks" who they want to replace him?  Everyone seems to have their own opinion of who the heir apparent will be, but the board has the ultimate responsibility of recommending a coach to the Superintendent. Earlier in this thread someone finished their post with the sentence "Everything is fine in Mustang land" (or something to that effect) Well, just because you say something over and over doesn't necessarily make it true.
This is an incorrect assessment, the board NEVER makes recommendations for professionals to the Superintendent.  All recommendations are to come to the board from the Superintendent.  Now if it is this way in WOS then they do have some serious problems! Coach Hooks will remain in WOS as long as he wants, and I would have to say that this man has dedicated his life to the WEST ORANGE COMMUNITY!  Any other coach with this mans record, with any other motives would never have stayed dropping from 5A then to 4A and now to 3A.  He would have moved long ago to stay in the mix with bigger schools.  Coach Hooks does alot more for the community than coach football as was stated earlier - he grows boys into men.  Some don't turn out like he wants but all that go through his program have the opportunity to succeed. I don't think you will find any other 3A school with the adversity this school has, and is facing with a better record.  Great Job Coach Hooks for last however many years it has been!
And for how many years he wants to stay. Good post.
 5.
Both of these teams are good or they would not have won there Super Bowls. The weight restriction are in favor of WOS and the age is in favor of WOS. I have a friend that works with me and his son is on the WOS team and he talks about them all the time, so I know how good they are. Should be a good game. I'm pulling for Silsbee.
What are the weights in Lonestar?

Roll your eyes all you want, SHSTIGER, West Orange is a shell of its former self, and education is part of the problem. Even the parents of athletes are trying to get to districts like LCM so their kids can have a descent education.
You have no idea what you are talking about. My kids (all three of them) attend WOS and get a fine education. My kids all make A's and commended on the TAKS test. The education is there for the taking and my kids are taking advantage of it. I will agree that more kids should take advantage of it but don't blame it on the teachers. They are doing their job.
 7. Don't most kids only get one year in Sr.?
 8.

Your right! They did give up 32 to whoever it wuz they played in their super bowl. I keep forgetting about their 'Get Back Coach'. That's how they beat us last week. Next year were gonna fill that position on our staff!
He's good!.. He's Dang good!! :D
You two mullets are making yourselves laugh, I can tell. Let's not forget, I'm also the assistant waterboy. Don't try to downplay the importance of the "get back" coach.  ;D
 9.
You guys are nuts if you think wos jr will take out any senior team out there. I've coached in the jr and sr division, and there is a world of difference between the two, I'll give wos credit that I can see a very good jr team beating some sr teams, but not the top sr teams, there was really only 3 sr teams at the top this year, Lum white, Lum blue and Nederland Black and no way does wos jr beat any of those 3, no disrespect to wos because they are the best jr team I've ever seen, but I've seen better youth teams in the stjfl and Pop Warner (at the senior level).
Those aren't WOS Jr. White fans or coaches. That is just someone trying to stir the pot. We did our job and beat who we need to beat. We don't care if we could or couldn't beat any Sr. teams until next year.

WOS98 you need to play there JR team after there Superbowl. Then we all can start this thread over. Let me know Time and Date.
Most likely it's a go still trying to see what time and where at. We're pushing for Sunday the 22nd. LR33 thanks for the comments about our team. We worked hard this year and the kids was awarded with being the Super Bowl Champs. Now we're taking our show on the road to Houston to represent the Golden Triangle to see if we could bring home the gold.
Sounds like that may interfere with baseball practice. We can't do it on a Saturday?
 11.
ok on all this they may be good but they dont beat a SR team
In my opinion you are so wrong there. We would definitely beat some Sr. teams but also definitely not all of them.

There will be teams from Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. We are taking our team. I feel like we will be facing all star teams when we get there. We will get to see if we can compete. That's alot to ask from our kids but we have asked alot all season long. I as a coach can't wait.
TD keep us updated.
Will do.

The town before the Bridge into Atascocita is Huffman(Dated a girl in College from there ;D). There will be a sighn that says Hargrave Falcon stadium. You will take a right by a gas station if your going toward humble. ETBU can explain better, he lives there.
Thanks, kicker.I didn't think it would be to hard. What happened to the girl? 16. I don't have a dog in the fight but you are the one that got on here and declared HJ as the one team with the potential to beat WOS. Oh wait, it wasn't beating WOS it was waxing dat *^$$, if I remember correctly. I just wonder how you should win a game easily that you actually lost 26-6? Now that is getting your *^$$ waxed.  ;D
 17. I'm not sure I would go that far.
 18. Amen! I check with either the principal or the assistant every single morning. I take time out to talk to the ones that need talking to if any. Not only that I remind them of the consequences should they decide to get out of line. We aren't just turning boys into football players. We are turning boys into men and good men.
 19. If we are here we will be looking and preparing to take the title just like all of the other teams will.
 20. Gas, please don't confuse the whole conversation with facts.

What do u guys think about that?
I agree
I disagree!
Who do you think was most dominant?
 22. I agree it was fun. Our Jr White team had a blast. Helping those boys and being able to watch how they were able to take a game plan and practice it and then watch them come out on Saturday and execute and dominate week after week was one of the most impressive things I have seen 9 and 10 year old boys do.
