WOS knew they would cream BC in 07' that's why they did it, they didn't do it this year cause they knew it would be close. BC beats WOS in baseball every year but they don't go to the mound before the game or something. Anyways I know WOS will keep doing it but their time is coming in the next two years.
I will take that bet. -

It wouldn't hurt for the WOS fans to feel what its like a few rungs down the ladder.
Not this year. The rungs on the WO-S ladder are still solid for at least the next 5 years. Go 'Stangs!
You do know if yall happened to get by BC this year yall are gonna lose the next two years? You think Menard and Dishon are good now just wait till they're juniors and seniors... As for tonight WO-S 21 BC 27
Hmmmm... I'll have to disagree with you on that one. WOS will only be starting 2 seniors on each side of the ball. If they are going to get them, this would be the year.
Notice how I put IF they get by ;)
I will take that wager on the next two years. BC should have done it this year. ;) -
Sorry I couldn't make the "Safety Meeting" last night. I went to my deer lease with a couple of guys and it rained so much we didn't have alot to do so we just had to sit under the pavilion and you know how that goes. Next thing I know it's 10 pm. Lets schedule another meeting. I would like to meet the other coaches. I use that term (coach) very loosely about myself when we are talking about football. They call me the get back coach.

I know you know that. When a team is missing starters in any sport on any level it can effect the out come of a game. Surely you know that.
you're right, it CAN effect the outcome of a game, but not WILL. but when your team loses and you set in stone that they lost because the weather, starters being out, and whatever your head can come up with just so you feel better about your predictions or just to "defend" your team it becomes an excuse.
:D It's called the truth! Guess i'll give an example....Let's say the Pats lose Tom Brady and 3 Offensive Linemen, you think they will be as good? ::)
I think BC will have to play the best game of their season to win the game. Weather they will or not will be revealed Friday night. Football has always had a little luck involved in winning games, especially close games. No matter if the field is a sloppy mud fest or starters are out for whatever reason or injuries occur to key players, the game still counts. That's football. Would haves and could haves don't count. The final score does. Whoever wins or whoever looses can't use excuses or "reasons" as to why they lost and say if the game were played again under different conditions we would have won. No one knows that. The winner may win by more in better conditions. No one knows. So please, lets drop "we win in better conditions or if all starters are here and healthy". That's just the way the game is played. You do the best with what you have to play with on any given night. And, hey, that may be enough to win by. Good luck to both teams. And may the teams play a clean game and injury free.
This is my favorite post in a very long time. Good luck to both teams. Go Stangs
We never played BC while in 5A. In fact, we never played BC when we weren't in the same classification.
You really need to leave the facts out of these discussions.
AllSportsMom, There is no report card check for grades, never has been. We do check them at the certification to see what school they attend, but that is it. TD, I can say that for the eight years that I ran the scale at every certification and I guarantee you no kid every was allowed to certify if they did not make weight. I would also be willing to bet that since you are not allowed to weigh and certify your own players that it has not happend in the two years that I was gone. I have seen numerous kids turned away for 1 pound, also I have seen numerous kids strip to their skivies to make weight. Do kids gain weight after certification, absolutely just part of it. It would take too much time and manpower to have weigh-ins through out the season.
I think you must have gotten my post confused. I never said that they did or didn't. I don't even care either way. Sorry if you took my post any other way. I appreciate all of the hard work and wouldn't criticize what yall do. I just stated that if you attend one weigh in and saw them let one person go then that was enough. the person insinuated that you needed to attend all weigh in's to determine if they let kids slide or not. I just posted that wasn't true. -

Videoguy, what can we do to be sure that the kids names are correct. Last year my son Chad Dallas was in the PeeWee Superbowl and while we enjoyed the video and still do to this day. I have to admit it is a little disheartening hearing them call him Chad Davis all day long. Please don't take this as me whining. I love what y'all do. As a matter of fact I was a sponsor last year just as I am sponsoring this program this year. I just want to know if there is anything we as coaches can do to prevent this problem. It's easy to understand not pronouncing some names properly but I think my problem is an easier fix. Thanks
TD, First of all, I do not take it as whining. I am really sorry when something like this happens. Too far behind us to do a full "Cold Files" investigation on what happened, but the mistake probably came down to one or two things though. 1) The name was wrong on the roster ( maybe/probably not ). 2) My announcer screwed up and said Davis instead of Dallas the whole game because we were furnished a hand written roster, on a wadded up scrap piece of paper, written in script minutes before kickoff. . . after being asked repeated over the PA to deliver one to the booth. My good intentioned announcers translated Dallas to Davis and said his name incorrectly the whole game. Actually there is a #3) My announcers just totally screwed up and pronounced the name wrong. If you knew how hard they worked to find correct pronunciation for all those names you would want to eliminate this one, but it does happen. Hey, I just called announcer Charlie Jehlen and was reminded one announcer wears bifocals and the other one needs them. No names here ;>) Bottom line, for whatever the reason or excuse, I do feel bad and extend our apologies to young Chad Dallas and his family. This is the perfect time to repeat our request for 3 TYPE WRITTEN rosters ( one for the PA, 1 for each of the 2 announcers) with FULL FIRST & LAST NAMES and numbers in NUMERICAL ORDER. It helps if the list is delivered by someone that we can ask for help with any of the correct pronunciations. Many times the list, when delivered, is presented by a younger player or someone that isn't even familiar with the players or names on the list. All of this is needed before the game starts. Added note: if one hears a name wrong over the PA. . . there's a good chance it's probably being said wrong on the DVD broadcast. Please send a runner to the booth with a correction. Chad Dallas, hope we see you in the play offs and superbowl bound again this year. TD, thanks for the valued input, the sponsorship, and for buying the DVD!!!! see 'ya on the field, videoguy
Chad laughs every time we watch the DVD. Regardless of getting his name wrong or not the DVD will be cherished for many years. We hope to be on our way back to the Superbowl in the Jr division. One game at a time though. If we are lucky enough to make it to the second round, I believe yall are videoing our games at LCM. If so, I will make sure that everyone gets typed rosters in numerical order. If possible I will also add to the side a phonetic spelling of the name to make it easier to pronounce. Thanks for what yall do for my kids and others.

So you are saying that league officials allow kids to be overwieght? Do you go to all the weight ins? I didn't make the comment and as far as I know they don't let overweight kids play but you don't have to go to every weigh in to know. If you go to one weigh in and it's done then that's really all you need to see. -
looks good to me, we can finally agree about something raider44, if this happens who would play who? maybe you and wOS would get to lock horns earlier than expected? Should it play out like this WOS would then play PNG. We will only meet Lumberton if we both are lucky enough to make it to the Super Bowl. WOS White, Nederland White, PNG, BC are in the top of the bracket and Lumberton, WOS Blue, Orangefield and Nederland Gold are in the bottom. Good luck to all.

Is there anyway that they can be put on the website. That would be much easier than having to call someone each month and finding out where the meeting is and/or if it got changed? -

Congrats to Coach and all the Bears and all of the Bear hopeful that stuck it out through some hard times. You could tell at the beginning of the season that things were going to change. Well, change is here. Getting a district win is just the start. Congrats again Coach, you have the Bears headed in the right direction and the community is behind you.

Speaking of the freshman and the others that were brought up, I guess since they got their silver then they are there to stay?

So how do you determine if the school should or shouldn't be involved? In this case the parents are very involved. Are you wanting the school to discipline over the parents? If not where do you draw the line. We can't have it both ways. You can't have the school determine if they are the only authority or not, or if the parent isn't making the right choice for the child. I have to say I disagree with what you are saying. The school is responsible for discipline at school and at school functions and or events not what happens at home or away from campus on the weekends. Now code of conduct policies I do understand. However, I also believe in the fact that the government already has too much power. Less is more. TD.....I'm 100% in agreement! The schools job ends when the school bell rings! If the parents are not involved, thats sad, but none of the schools business! And in this case they are very involved. Very good kids and good parents. -

That man found out what we did everytime we did it. If we went to a party on a Sat night, he knew on Monday and believe me, we had to pay. Of course it didnthelp that I was running with his son either. haha Same thing with Coach Andy but that was a Coach personally handling a code of conduct situation. Not a school board......... -

Like I said, maybe it's not a school issue. I'm not saying one way or the other, but, if whatever this is didn't happen at school, how can you suspend them from school? TD, this is taken straight from WOS handbook, I am just saying: OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES Radios, CD Players, Cell Phones, and Other Electronic Devices and Games “Telecommunication device†is any device that emits an audible signal, vibrates, displays a message, or otherwise summons or delivers a communication to the possessor, including cell phones and pagers. The District prohibits the visible display of a telecommunication device during regular school hours while the student is on school property unless prior approval is obtained from the principal. No student shall possess or control a telecommunication device (pagers, cellular phones, laser pointers, CD players, radios, stun guns or cameras, games, etc.) that is turned on during regular school hours while the student is on school property. Students who violate this policy shall be subject to established disciplinary measures. District employees shall confiscate any device that is turned on during regular school hours. Parents shall be notified after the device is confiscated that the device may be released to the parent for a fee of $15.00 or the device will remain in the possession of the school for a period of 30 days, after which it may be released to the parent or disposed of. [see policy FNCE] · Electronic equipment is subject to search in the event school administrators believe reasonable suspicion exists to support the search. · Cell phones are prohibited from testing environment. · Cell phones or any device that permits recording the voice or image of another in any way that either disrupts the educational environment, invades the privacy of others, or is made without the prior consent of the individuals being recorded is prohibited. Inappropriate Use of Technology Students are prohibited from sending or posting electronic messages that are abusive, obscene, sexually oriented, threatening, harassing, damaging to another’s reputation, or illegal. This prohibition applies to conduct off school property if it results in a substantial disruption to the educational environment. Any person taking, disseminating, transferring, or sharing obscene, sexually oriented, lewd, or otherwise illegal images or photographs will be disciplined according to the Student Code of Conduct and may, in certain circumstances, be reported to law enforcement. So, if I'm reading this correctly, if this happened off grounds the only way they should be involved is if it disrupted the education environment. I'm not arguing either side. I'm just posing a question. Again, as far as I know there are no authorities involved. -

That's a great question. Do you have an answer for it? I'm not real sure what part politics plays in the whole thing but everyone has an opinion.
