Crouch hopes to revive Bears’ football fortunes
td replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Turning a program around in just one year is a tall order for anyone. Give him time and I think he can get it done. Changing a whole mind set in just one year is asking alot. -
Congratulations to all of the boys. It's amazing what kids can do in spite of coaching or lack there of ;D. Just kidding the three of you do a great job with the boys.
-
Yes remember I knew someone would make that argument. I didn't say it was impossible. This is simply my opinion based on experience. It's easier to be recognized at a larger school than it is at a smaller school. No disrespect to any small school.

I don't hate 2A football. I made my statement based on what I wanted to do for my kids. 2A doesn't get near the exposure that 4A or 5A gets. I know athletes are where you find them and the theory is they will be found. I agree with that to an extent. However, I know a lot of kids that have gotten to go play college ball because a scout was there to watch another player.

Then I apologize to the coach about only that part of my statement. Thanks. I stand corrected. When I played in the early 80's (damn that was a long time ago) Lincoln was the same way. -

That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. He let the kids play that never get to play and that was their chance to show what they could do. How about we put a little responsibility on Ozen. Maybe they should teach the game. Do you think they don't have athletes? You will never hear me whine about getting my brains beat in. Learn to play the game. Sounds like you think this is a fun, fair and positive league. I really don't won't to get into a political conversation but I bet I can guess. Don't bring down the better teams so everything can be fair and equal. Griff did all that was expected of him in a situation like this. But for you to ask the subs to get out on purpose is a ridiculous statement. They don't get to go play JV because they are needed to run the bases on Varsity but when the rare moment they get an opportunity to play you want them to get out on purpose. That's crap! Coming down off my soap box now. Sorry that struck a nerve with me. -
What time today?

It was 10. And yes, he is still smiling. Must have been the pitching he was hitting off of. Just like your younger days, huh?????? I wasn't a pitcher in my younger days. But if I were a pitcher I am sure everyones average would have gotten better having faced me. I couldn't bust grape but I could field a ground ball and hit singles all day long. Maybe that was me I was thinking about. Seemed like a track meet everytime I took the mound. ;D

I'm not sure. I think we have plenty of kids. Usually about the same number of teams in Mustang and Pinto and we have 9 or 10 in Mustang. We are going out to the park tomorrow night after practice so I will know more then. Good luck to yall.
-
This is our first year out of league ball. I hate it too becasue my youngest would be second year Pinto and that was my favorite age to coach. We now play for GTB Hitters Inc. I coach my 10 year old on the 10U blue team and my 8 year old plays on the 9U blue team. I passed on the all star team last year in Mustang becasue we were playing select also and that's where my commitment was. The last time I coached all stars was the year before and we won the tournament at yalls place and finished 5th at the State tournament.

The younger ages aren't the problem. It's when they get older that they move away. My daughter is a freshman and had a big class when they were younger but it keeps shrinking. > Now my boys are in the 3rd and 4th grade so it will work out perfect for me if we drop in 4 years. If we don't then even better.

A couple of years ago we had a kid hit it out to right off of the tee. He was right handed and went oppo to go yard. It was great. I think he's still smiling and he's 9. ;D

And proud you should be. In Orange we are a legit 150 down both lines and either 175 or 180 in center (too old to remember which it is). I measured it myself. I have had kids hit balls out of yalls park that never came close in Orange. If I had to guess I bet if you measured it yall are no more than 125 at the very most down the lines. The tall fence doesn't come into play that much at that distance I don't think. The kids hit the ball too high at that age. That being said I've always enjoyed playing over there. I've had a lot of succes on yalls field. ;D
-
Let me try that again. Sad to say but when we drop to 2A I'm out and looking for a place to play my two boys.
-
If playing on yalls little field I think the number is unlimited. On a regular size field I think we had a kid that hit 10 or 12 last year but that is not the norm in Orange. I would guess the leader in Orange on a "normal" year would be 5 or less.
-
That's not funny at all! That would be my worse nightmare. Unless Newton moved up in classification.
-
Matt Hicks first. No question.
-
I know that's why we are all on the edge of our seats waiting to hear from him on this subject.
-
All of this and no skipper to tell us what he has been told about the Mustangs this week?

After Nederland brought it up. It should never come to that. If two teams want to move their game, they should have to bring it up before the district to get approval, not have another team have to call them on it. Besides, I didn't think it was brought before the district, I thought it was brought before the UIL. Is your opinion a UIL rule or just your opinion. If it's just your opinion then I would say what makes you the authority. If you are quoting UIL rules then I would agree. -
**Silsbee at BC Updates.....BC wins 4-3!!**

They deffinantley need to get it taken care of by next friday at Orangefield, heck we better even watch out for the Mustangs Tuesday if we keep playing like we are, Can't take any games for granite if we plan on making it to Austin this year... That's for sure! I thought the first game this week was just one of those games that every team has, but tonight when they played the same type of game, made me wonder what's going on with them! And you are so right, Orangefield seems to have their whole team contributing and they seem to be on a winning roll, and WOS under Jesse are getting their act together, so BC can't take anybody in this district for granted and if they want to do something post season, they need to get it together quick! I know they are a good team, but they aren't showing it right now. Hope they step it up a notch or two in the next game! It sounds like they are playing to their competition. I've only been able to see them play once but that was against LCM. Hopefully they will start to play to their potential and not their opponents.
