Orangefield vs. Hamshire-Fannett...OF Wins!!!!!!!!!
td replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
So the home plate umpire made the call? It would seem to me, and I don't know the whole situation but, wouldn't that be the field umpires call? There was a runner on 1st base so the field umpire was in his position behind the pitcher so the home plate umpire had the call down the line See, now it makes more sense to me. -
*WO-S vs. Silsbee Updates*....WO-S WINS 9-8 IN 10 INNINGS!!

I can't decide if I'm glad I missed it or not. That many walks would drive me nuts and that's not a far trip. At least the Mustangs hung in there and didn't give up. I bet Coach Trawhon was having a fit with the walks, HBP's and the balks. Congrats Mustangs. Hang in there Tigers. -
**Nederland at LC-M Updates...7-4 Nederland Wins!**
td replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
How many freshmen and sophomores are on varsity and who are they? How many freshmen and sophomores are starters? Last night Nederland started: sophmores; 3B Trevor Sonnier, 2B Stephen Schlett, RF Tyler Smith, C Anthony Babino I was impressed with the Nederland kid behind the plate...above he's identified as sophomore Anthony Babino. The first thing that grabs you when you see him is that he's small in stature, but he makes you forget about that in a hurry. He's a very active catcher, made some fantastic stops on tough pitches breaking in the dirt, and took charge in the game. He seemed to play with more experience than a sophomore. Congrats to A. Babino and the Dogs on a good game...hopefully we'll be ready when we come to your place. Slam, I first saw this kid catching bullpens about a year ago. He was catching pitcher after pitcher and he was getting beat up. The most he would do was grunt and stay in and block the next pitch. I've never seen a catcher work that hard. Not once did he just stick his glove out to catch the ball. It wasn't even his practice. He was doing a coach a favor because it was an opportunity for him to get some work in. Not only that he seems to be a good kid. It's worth the trip to go watch him catch. -
Regardless of the outcome of the game, you shouldn't bash another kid. If he gives up 10 in the first or throws a shutout, it shouldn't matter. Zane is a good kid and a good baseball player. We are glad to have him here whatever the outcome is.

does LCM have a district game tonight? Kind of.....I think they are playing Central. I don't think so. They are playing Barbers Hill at 5. I think. They play BH again tomorrow. BH has a district game against CE King tonight. Sorry you are correct. They play Central at 5. The game is at LCM. Sorry about my bad information I just misunderstood.

You are exactly right. Hooks & Barbay are smart enough to be at schools where: A) athletes abound, each & every year, and Football is regarded above anything & everything else. You don't know much about WOS if you think ( is true. It has become so low on the totem pole it's scary.

I don't have a dog in this fight other than I have seen Matt throw in a game and in lessons. You can take the fact that he is a Jr. out of it. He is one of the most impressive kids I have ever seen on the mound if not the most impressive. The command he shows is unbelievable. Does that mean he will never have a bad day? No. If you are a pitcher sooner or later you are going to get lit up and or have a bad day. Instead of sitting on the computer doubting him, why don't you go watch him play. He is a better kid than he is a baseball player and that's saying something. I can only hope my boys look at Matt and want to be like him and I'm not just talking about being a baseball player.

21-3a predictions who makes the playoffs
td replied to HFfan2009's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
ummmmm..? this isn't football son this baseball you clicked on the wrong page. Not any of those teams in my opinion will even come close to making the playoffs. Think hard and look at what BC, HF, and OF have done and try not post these ignorant comments ever again. You are awarded no points and GOD have mercy on your soul. Could you be more of a jerk? I don't think so. That's the nicest way I could put that and not have it removed by a moderator. Isn't it kind of ironic that I'm sitting here defending Aggies? I'm not sure you could have posted anything that would have made you look more like a jackass than that. Go back to class I think I just heard the lunch bell ring. -

I think I would have HF in my top three somewhere not to mention BC. -
Unless Coach Foreman never saw the TCU helmet. Then it was just something he made up and it just happened to resemble TCU's.

oldtimer, you wouldn't be the first to think that and then get disappointed. ;D -
First, I am going to point-blank disagree with the the statement "they are all better than him". Granted, that is a matter of opinion ... but it is just incorrect. LSU has a proverbial "glut" of outfielders. Many will be gone after this season: Jared Mitchell: starts in LF; Jr. and projected to be drafted early. He'll be gone. Derek Helenihi: started last night in RF; Sr. and gone to graduation. Leon Landry: stars in CF; Soph and most likely gone after his jr. year to the draft. Blake Dean: DH who insisted he get time in OF to help his draft status. Coach acquiesed. Dean will be gone after this year. Chris McGhee: Sr. who is UT player. Gone to graduation. Nick Pontiff: Sr. whose family is well connected at LSU. Hitting .200 in limited action. Gone to graduation. Chad Jones: Soph who also plays football. Every year it is an issue on what he'll do. Currently in Spring Football. Also, has history of attitude/run-ins with law. Question mark on his status. Mike Mahtook: Fresh. who has seen limited action (7 ABs all year). Gave up year of eligibility for 7 ABs. Worth it? Next year, Johnny projects to start for them. He can redshirt, keep a year of eligibility, and is still draft-eligible after next year. Why waste a year (like Mahtook) fighting for a few ABs? As far as transferring, that (under the new NCAA rules) is not a very viable option. If he transfers to a D1 school, he has to sit out a full year. He can transfer to a JC and play but why do that? He'll play next year at LSU. He was dressed and on the field Friday night at the game. He even came over and took a picture with my two boys. There were a lot of rumors flying around about him redshirting and transferring to Miami. I'm not sure how valid any of the talk was but when I asked about him that was the talk. There was a lot of talk about the outfielders they had coming in. Not one person had anything bad to say about him just that he was in an unfortunate situation.

I'm going to the LSU game tonight and I will see if I can find anything out. I won't be back in town until Sunday though.

td replied to ozenfreshman's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I agree. This would be a really good game. Would have to play at The Reservation because of all the fans that would be there ;D! I agree a better facility all around but does it seat more now? We should get this back on schedule and do a home and home every other year. -

I would like to see this game too but WB has nothing to win in this game. If they win, so what they are 5A and they should win. However, if they lose.......that's not good. -
**LC-M at Bridge City Updates..1-0 BC Wins In 8!!**
td replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Visited with an umpire last night and he knew exactly what I was talking about and agreed as soon as the fielder tries to make an out at another base it negates the base hit regardless if the out could or could not have been made at first base. It becomes a fielder's choice and there is no judgement call at all. -

I wasn't aware of that rule. Thanks for clarifying. Not that I doubt you but before I spout information I think I will go look it up myself. Thanks for letting me know. -

If it's when he stole second and they dropped the ball then it was. I think he may have gotten the second baseman with his cleats on accident. It was just a well played game all around and hated to see it end. -
