  1. That last post may have been a little harsh. It's one of those days. The good thing about the rule is it allows the league to do it either way. I hope Orange goes to "and under". It would allow my son to play Mustang league as an 8 year old.
  2. I coached 3 teams last year so my 2 boys could do their own thing. I don't think I'm pushing my kids to grow up too fast but thanks for your advice. BTW my kids aren't 5 or 6. I know my kids well enough and I know the game well enough to make an educated decision on my own but thanks again.
  3. at least for now td. I can't even deny that anymore.
  4. really??? I guess we better call the LCM volleyball team who is sitting alone at the top of the district in 1st place and let them know. oh yeah, when we are done we better call Griff and warn him too. From the outside looking in it only seems to be football. It starts with varsity football but I think the whole program needs a work over. Again, I'm an outsider looking in.
  5. I don't think there is any confidentiality or HIPAA laws that they are concerned with.
  6. That will probably be a problem, you are correct. Not only that alot will do it out of convenience. It will be nice for me though. I have separated mine in select ball but I feel that the youngest can definitely play up in league ball.
  7. I agree which is it you can't have it both ways. Maybe a parent like I was talking about or a future one, who knows.
  8. my statement was by no means bashing parents....i have for many years kept kids from quiting were most coaches would have let it happen I didn't take it that way.
  9. fan4life, you obviously just don't get it. When you are a coach that goes out and volunteers his time to other kids then you are supposed to do as all of the parents want you to do. Play their kids how much they want them played and where they want them played. Even if that very same parent can't manage to get little Johnny to practice. Funny how they make it to every single game. That very same parent won't get off of the couch to take a minute to play catch with little Johnny or teach him how to block at home. You my friend are supposed to do that in the 3 hours a week you get to spend with him if he shows up. Not only that he better be good at it or you once again haven't done your job. That is just part of the thanks you get for spending countless hours and I do mean countless hours coaching. But hey, there isn't a one of us that wouldn't put up with little Johnny's momma or daddy if that's what it takes to be a coach. We love spending time and teach our kids and other people's kids. Not just baseball and football but how to tie their shoe and to make sure they are getting their homework. Asking if they need help with any school work. Picking them up and taking them home. The laughs that we get to share with these kids are priceless. So I personally want to thank each and every parent that I have had the privilege of coaching their son or daughter for sharing their children with me. It truly is my pleasure. OK climbing down from my soap box.
  10. Everyone on here knows this is about the kids. I am a football coach in a youth league, I know that, as does Piratefan, 4life, and Capt. Claude and all these other guys you say are "living through their kids". Everyone thinks that they can come on here and say whatever they want and add "its about the kids" and that makes them feel all warm and fuzzy. I like football, I like to watch it, coach it, and play it. If I want to get on here and toot my own horn because I beat Deweyville (sorry Capt.) and Silsbee (sorry Mark) then I should be able to, without some yayhoo coming on here and bashing me because its a youth sport. I outcoached an opposing coach or my team was the better team that day because of my (coaches) way of teaching or play calling. I teach my philosophy, Claude teaches his philosophy, who knows what philosphy Larry is is teaching but its different for each coach. We are teaching these kids to be competitive and we are being competitive with them. Its fun for us to do this. Its fun for me and my coaches (friends) to sit around after the game and talk about what happened, what we could have done different, and other stuff like that. I'm not living through my kids, I'm involved in their lives, and have made some great friends along the way. What team are your kids on? What association are you with? Do your kids play in LoneStar or STJFL? Who are you? My name is Barry and I am with Hardin-Jefferson. I know my boys aren't going to be proffessional, but if they get their college paid for, well that's great, and if that don't happen well I made some great friends and my kids will remember, that their dad was involved in their life. You obviously don't know me so you wouldn't know if you hit a nerve or not. I think before you have discussion with more mature people, that you learn proper english. "good comeback you sound like 5 year old" . "I rather have" dude, your stupid............... Good post, Hawks. Whoever that is has added nothing to any thread I have seen him/her post on. They sit back and bash what everyone else post and then like you said add "it's for the kids" and it makes them feel better. I really didn't have a dog in this fight but since this is a board about opinions I thought I would give mine.
  11. Most refs are pretty good, but the 99.9% effeciency rating MIGHT be a little high. ;D It depends on which side of the call you are on. I always say "it's only a penalty if they call it".
  12. Hey Ref, I tell you what is really impressive. The umpires that make the calls on the close plays in baseball. I can look at it in slow motion and have to see it several times, to only find out that they were correct about the call. Football is a little different for me because I'm one of those not so smart fans that can only watch the guy with the ball. You really miss a big part of the game doing that but I can't help myself. Maybe I need the medication. Got anything for that "freak"?
  13. Someone said medication and you came alive.
  14. Ouch...hit a nerve. "The Ref" is right in some respects, but what makes the comments yelled from the stands even funnier in some situations is that usually the guy yelling the loudest (and the most obnoxious) has no clue what he's talking about. That is so true and they always sit right behind me in my ear.
  15. You have got to be kidding about Coach Hooks! What did you want them to do kneel the ball at the beginning of the second quarter?
  16. According to this thread every team is going to be really good for the next several years. It should be interesting to see how this really plays out. Good luck to all.
  17. Some one missed their medication this morning.
  18. Trust me Slam if you don't start one someone else will. It just comes with being me I guess. ;D That makes 2 December rumors.
  19. Have you heard any about me today, Coop?
  20. Hmmm? I like that one. Can I use it for next year? You can use it for the next few weeks if the situation fits. ;D
  21. Obviously that was the problem. How about this one, "We caught yall on a bad week".
  22. So you didn't know that property could be annexed?
  23. Hats off to the dogs too. I hope you are right about the Super Bowl and I hope I get to see this one. Apparently both teams played great, which is what you want in this type of match-up.
  24. your a moron... I don't have a dog in this fight but if you are going to call someone a moron then you should do it correctly. It's "You're a moron not your a moron". I'm just saying!
  25. player66, dogs83 and all of the other posters, aren't you going to congratulate the Sr. Mustangs. As I understand it Nederland was a very good team and hopefully we will get to see them again and I will be able to make that game.
