  The kats should be much stronger this year. during the weigth lifting meet, at Newton this year, the kats had some big young kids competing.

no problem at linebacker, Hadnot will step in and will be a hard hitter and he played enough in that position last year that he will be ready.

I think Newton returns O/D 8-8 Most of the line was sophs and will return and they are bigger and stronger. Both running backs return. Two of the state 400 relay team return, one at running back and one at defensive back will be back next year. Newton should be better next year.

Newton has success in track also. Newton finished 3rd in the state this year. First in 4 by 100 and First in 400 meter. Two of the 4 by 100 will be back and starting on the football team. one is a junior and one is a sophmore. The most consistent in all sports is definately Nederland.  They went deep into the playoffs in all the major sports the last several years. Great program going in Nederland.(and I am a PN-G grad).

My pick would definately be Brent Wasters, truck driver from Beaumont, probably the only one on the list who has ever driven a big truck.

and if He has a good year you'all will be praising him..It probably wasn't easy getting someone to come to a program where the Coach only last an average of 2 years. Support him and give the man a chance. Your school board thought he was the best selection.

Why don't Newton play Jasper, Silsbee etc...  Because they droped Newton from their schedule. To say that Bridge City and Orangefield were weak teams is not true. These teams will be better next year and competative. Liberty should have been better but lost their good qb by transfer. These are not the little patsy teams like Deweyville played. Wow, this ought to get something started...

Must be the Golden Triangle super gold team..We don't get the PA news in our little backwooded county but we still have some out houses that would welcome some copies.

You are right titletown2, give credit to a good Yoe team. We just had a bad day. I think this team will be more mature next year. What makes so many people who have never coached in their life critisize a good coaching system? THEY MAKE ME SICK....

Fox SW guide showed Desota to be playing last week. Never changed their guide, just left the viewers hanging. TV guide Fox sw alt. dish ch.440 now shows Desota ve Allen at 6 pm  --  and they still show Katy vs Cibolo Steele at 2pm on ch.416. There will be a lot of upset people who wait all day and turn on fox to find some other program telivised..

Newton will be loaded. Only 8 total seniors on this team. Lose a good qb but have  two soph. ready to step in. Newton should be even better next year.

Newton vs Yoe Shenandoah, Friday 7:30pm, Newton will be visitors. Go to website, Newton Independent school district , where Newton has the announcement and click on the address for the stadium and you will get the map with the directions, location of the stadium.

Found a write up on the Yoe/Hallettsville game in the Bryan Newspaper. Game was close in first half, Yoe faked a punt on 4th down and made a first down and went on to score on that drive. Yoe returned the second half kick off for a TD. Yoe also picked off a quick out pass to the wide receiver and scored. The write up said Yoe is plus 25 on turnovers.

I happened to turn on fox SW at midnight and the game was being telivised. Yes, what a bad move by the DeSota coach to call time out with 3 seconds left and give Carroll  another chance to score and win the game from the 1 yard line. Almost cost DeSota the game. Not much was said by the announcer because it was such a bad move and they did not want to make an issue about it. Has Desota lost then it would have been a big issue.

Newton played at Bullard and Lufkin and both high schools had great facilities. All their coaches were standing on the track watching us play. They probably need to hire another 15 coaches next year. That should do it.

Newton did not Play Cameron Yoe last year. Crockett beat us in the second round.
