BOTH ARE GOING MONDAY TO HAVE MRI'S ON THEIR KNEES. REMEMBER THIS IS A SCRIMMAGE AND TEAMS PLAY ALL PLAYERS IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THEM. SCORE MEANS NOTHING. SILSBEE IS A VERY GOOD TEAM AND I WISH THEM THE BEST OF LUCK THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.

The only date I see them not losing a game is Sept.20

for example, K-ville has 125 more kids in high school then Newton does. They have more kids out for football, more to choose from, etc.. Once those numbers change a little more then one of the schools would be in a different clasification. This is the reason it is hard for 2a teams to compete with 3a or 4a teams, etc..

In this matchup, I have Silsbee finishing second, PN-G next to last.

I would have picked some real easy schools like....... Brookland,Tx. anacoco, La SUMMER CREEK.

Seems like we heard this last year from Kountze. Newton wins district, E. Chambers is second, and its will probably take tie breakers to  untangle who will be third and forth. But anyway, good luck to Kountze.

My team is Newton (but I graduated from PN-G in '61.

If Deweyville wants more respect in regards to being ranked, then they need to play someone besides the 1-A teams that they now play. Not saying that Deweyville is not a good team but it is hard to measure a team that plays mostly weaker teams.

A few weeks ago one Newton coach said the scrimmages were the same as last year but reverse on home and away. I was told we scrimmage Silsbee here at Newton. If that is so Newton will be battle tested indeed. As time goes on these schedules are subject to change.

  The kats should be much stronger this year. during the weigth lifting meet, at Newton this year, the kats had some big young kids competing.

no problem at linebacker, Hadnot will step in and will be a hard hitter and he played enough in that position last year that he will be ready.

I think Newton returns O/D 8-8 Most of the line was sophs and will return and they are bigger and stronger. Both running backs return. Two of the state 400 relay team return, one at running back and one at defensive back will be back next year. Newton should be better next year.

Newton has success in track also. Newton finished 3rd in the state this year. First in 4 by 100 and First in 400 meter. Two of the 4 by 100 will be back and starting on the football team. one is a junior and one is a sophmore. The most consistent in all sports is definately Nederland.  They went deep into the playoffs in all the major sports the last several years. Great program going in Nederland.(and I am a PN-G grad).

My pick would definately be Brent Wasters, truck driver from Beaumont, probably the only one on the list who has ever driven a big truck.
