Longview to forfeit win against Evangel...
purpleeagle replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
No, the coach did not do the right thing. He should have well know before the game that he had an inelgible man. That's part of his job. There was a breakdowm in the school system. The coach let the whole team down. -

PN-G ----- LC-M game last night
purpleeagle replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Fans are a very important part of the football program. When the kids see and feel the large crowds, they are impressed to become a part of a program because of the fans and people in the community supporting that program. When the fans disappear the program goes down hill because kids are not interesting in the program..Kids are the future of your program. Thats why programs like WO-S, Newton, PG, Nederland, etc... keep reloading. The kids will tell you at Newton that "when you play football at Newton you are somebody". Very sad to see such a small turnout, especially at home. There were a lot of kids sitting on the PN-G side of the stands and were probably impressed by the large vocal, spiritual, crown that was supporting their team. It has a big bearing on how many kids come out for football in the future. It's surely not the only reason or the main reason for winning but it is an improtant part of the program. Very hard to get it back once you lose it.. -

*EC vs. Newton/NEWTON ROLLS/COMMENTS*
purpleeagle replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Newton has put in a new defence this year and this is the second game they have run it. They were out of position in the first game. Once the kids learn this defence they will get better. They still have a ways to go. By district Newton should be a lot better team. Other than a couple of EC fans coming to the Newton side and mouthing off about how bad they were going to beat Newton and Newton better get ready for the payback, the rest of the fans were polite and courteous to Newton. I'm sure we have the same few fans that mouth off too. EC surely has a good program and a good football team. EC, you surely gained my respect. GOOD LUCK THE REST OF THE YEAR. -

just called the coaches office and one of the assistant coaches said that he thought the Newton/EC game was still on and was still to be played in EC stadium. Not sure untill I talk to the head coach. I know the boys haven't practiced this week and are out of school tomorrow. -

Kirbyville at Jasper has been cancelled Newton/E.Chambers is uncertain but I have heard that if it is played it will be in Newton because E.C. field is now yet finished. -
*****JASPER vs. GILMER/56-28 GILMER WINS!!!*****
purpleeagle replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
................................... ""and the mighty Casey has just struck out"". and to think Gilmer lost 16 starters. A team that last year got wiped out by Liberty Hill 38-13. Shows you just how tough this class 3A is. Actually, this was a thursday night game which is the same as a scrimmage and doesn't count. Had it been a Friday night game, Jasper would have taken them...hUMMM is Jasper playing next Th. or Fri. night? Watch out K--ville if it is Fri. night. Hummmm. -
Could go to overtime- GO K--VILLE CATS
-
WEEK 0 IS HERE!! JASPER V.S. GILMER TONIGHT!!!
purpleeagle replied to jtown_dawgs#72's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Gilmer lost 10 starters on offense and 6 on defence. Jasper 41-21 Go DAWGS don't judge Jasper by this one because Gilmer is down. Jasper will roll. Go DAWGS. -
Isn't wildcat4life the one who last year said that k---VILLE would destroy WO/S. I saw that game and they showed WO/S by scoring a touchtown on them. Maby they will score one on Jasper too. Here are some excusses for wildcat4life. It was the referees we had our star player out it was luck if we would play them again we would beat them two of their tds should have been called back. they snuck some college players in on us.

Good job EC, Ft. Bend Baptist is a good div.2 parochial school that lost 6 starters on office and 6 starters on defence and had a fantastic 3 - 7 record last year.

Newton vs Coldsprings Very even scrimmage with varsity. Scrimmage was Newton 2 and Coldsprings 1 but Coldsprings was ever bit as good as Newton. Played one half 7-6 Newton. Not saying Newton won the scrimmage. No one wins a scrimmage. Newton JV 5 tds to 0. Coldsprings has a middle linebacker who also plays running back that is a one man recking crew. Very good. I think he is going to Tx. Tech. If you play against him, you will come to know him. Good luck Coldsprings, you have a good program going.

This one will be good....NEWTON @ EC
purpleeagle replied to BucPride08's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yes, Newton was a scared to death of EC last year. I know how you massacured Buna last year. And, Buna game Newton all they wanted. Lets see now, what was the scores between EC and Buna and between Buna and Newton? We are scared to death this year of EC. -
sounds like someone needs to go play games and leave the coaching to the coaches. Maby if he runs for the school board his son can play. Throw him a crying towel.

Newton vs Center scrimmage Newton J.V. 5 TDS Center 0 Newton varsity 2 TDS Center 1 TD one quarter - game conditions- Newton 7 Center 0 . Newton looked really good running the ball and the defence was really good. I think we are ahead of where we were this time last year. -
* Russell McDaniel New Deweyville HC!!!!*
purpleeagle replied to Kryptonite proof's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Best of luck to Coach McDaniels.. I think Deweyville is ready to step up another notch in their football program and I think they have the right man to do it. -
Would love to see Newton and Kirbyville both go on to state. Garrison and San Augustine did it a few years ago in the same district. Other than the Newton game ,I will be pulling for you Kirbyville.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A GAME AND SEEN A FAN KICKED OUT
purpleeagle replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I've thrown quiet a few out of the Newton games. Generally for flying gang colors, tobacco, alcahol, yelling obsene language where it can be hear by others, trying to watch the game from the parking lot, etc.. One at the state championship game for being drunk, a lot of them did not just go out the gate, they went to jail or were issued a ticket. Students caught with ear or tongue rings are turned over to the principal who will deal with them monday morning in his office. Most of you don't see this because you are not in or around that kind of conduct. I don't have a problem with people with the referees because I escort them on and off the field. My number one responsibility is to take care of the officials. -
Nederland in their lean year will have more wins than a lot of teams in their good years. Nederland has always had a winning tradition. Many programs are bad year after year after year and have no plans to change the way they play. They have accepted losing. Nederlands program will not accept many losing years before they holler for a new coach. The same goes for PN-G and other school who have winning tradition. Just let them have a few 2-8 or 3-7 losing years and just watch the fans demand a change.
-
I wouldn't know, I graduated from PN-G and live in Newton. Ask someone from Colmesneil or Huntington or somewhere like that. Only a mother could support some of the programs. I guess some people like loosing. I agree with Bear Bryant, " winning isn't evrything, but it beats the '' heck'' out of coming in second''. Most of those teams could develope good athletes but don't care enough to hire and pay a good coach. I assure you, a good coach would change those programs. They may not be state champions but they would be competative and respected.
