RELIANT WEEK 0 PREDICTIONS PNG/LaMarque..Ned/Brenham??
purpleeagle replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Wishing mid county the best but............................................. The heck with the beer, PN-G and Ned. fans - just bring TYLENOL. -
Joaquin 40 Evadale 13 Could be worse but I think Joaquin will play their second team late.
-
PN-G needs to draft Vince Young and then go to the spread. You have to have a illussive, fast, good passing QB to run the spread and be successful. Don't think PN-G has that talent. Hope I am wrong.

**2007 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SCHEDULES**
purpleeagle replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Has anyone seen Hemphill's schedule. Wonder if they are playing Alto the first game again this year? Also heard today that San Augustine's QB transferred to another school so he could play baseball. -
OLDTIMER, you said it best. and, I'm for bringing the paddle back. When I was in high school the coaches kept it close by. They got my attention.

Check Out This Offensive Lineman

Wow, can you imagine having to feed him? -
Very interesting. Today in the Beaumont Ent. the S.E. coaches picked WO/S to win the district. The TX. coaches poll picked WO/S in the top 15 in the state and Kirbyville was not in the top 15. S.E.Coaches poll also picked Jasper third in that district. Should get interesting before the year is over. Coaches poll also picked Newton and E.C. in the top 15 in the state. Gosh, you reckon the coaches think they know more about football than we do?

Carthage Bulldogs in 2007
purpleeagle replied to k-villeballa's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Carthage had a good team last year but only beat Newton by 3 points at Carthage. Newton fumbled 4 times deep in Carthage territory. The game went down to the wire. Newton scrimmaged Kirbyville last year and Kirbyville won that scrimmage. I think Kirbyville will beat Carthage this year. Should be a good close game. Carthage come to Newton this year Sept. 28. Should be a good one also. Newton scrimmages Kirbyville Aug.18 at Kirbyville. -

Which Team In SE Texas Has The Best Run Defense?
purpleeagle replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Your stats doesn't reflect the strength of the schedule each team is playing. When you open and play teams like LaMarque and Brenham in lieu of Takington or Huntington and play a strong schedule the team with the least yardage given up may not be the best defense. -
links to watch old games
purpleeagle replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If it is a playoff game either shool that played should have a copy of the game in their library. They should have provisions to copy the tape at the school. If it is a state championship game, UIL should have a copy. The state championship game in 86 when Burkeville played Throckmorton has been impossible to obtain. Uil did not have a copy. Burkevilles copy disappeared from the library. Throckmorton said they were sure they could find a copy but were unable to come up with a copy. -
I watched Alto play Hemphill last year and it was a mismatch. I am from Newton and I am sure glad we did not have to play them. They were that good. They could have hung with most 3A and a lot of 4A school. They were that good. I think they have all their defense back and boy can they hit. The Hemphill game could have easily been 54 to zip. Alto played their second team and it looked just as good as the first team. No one will beat them this year.

It was the Nederland PN-G game years ago when Kyle Aguilar made that "beautiful move" (shoved the Ned. Player to the ground to get open) and caught the winning touchdown at the end of the game.

Will PNG ever be good again?
purpleeagle replied to fbplayer999's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They need to hire a man with a last name like, HOOKS, yes that would do it. -
school board meets next tuesday, 24 July. Don't know if the job has even been posted or advertised yet. I suspect it will be about the start of the school year before someone is hired. They may designate another coach to fill in until they hire a new one.

Best Overall Coaching Staff In SE Texas?
purpleeagle replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Newton would have to be in the top few. They have two coaches besides Barbay that have been successful head coaches, one coached at Jasper for years with a winning program. They also have several young coaches. -
August 6--- practice starts August 10--- first day of contact August 18 --- first day team can scrimmage. 33 days until 1st scrimmage. Three weeks untill practice starts.

Word is that last years QB, Mcbride and his brother is trying to transfer to Newton. Burkeville lost about 7 starters last year because of the previous hurricane and their enrolement is dropping. It will be hard to rebuild that team with so few players to work with. I think the brothers will be disappointed if they transfers because Newton is loaded and they may be riding the bench. Burkeville had to pay the state back about 250 thousand dollars because of enrolement drop last year. They had to cut back on teachers. If they get the right coach that little school may recover in a few years.

Favorite Stadiums in the State
purpleeagle replied to jmspears3's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
How about how to get to your favorite stadium. There is a web site called Texas High School Football Database.. www.texasbob.com/football Gives you the stats and directions to every football stadium in Texas, even the clall A stadiums. Really a big help with new unfamiliar stadiums. Gives you the type of grass, seating capacity, map, etc.. -
what is the longest FG you have seen in hi school
purpleeagle replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
67 yards----Russ Cowsert from Dallas Christian vs FW Nolan in 1987. No, I did not actually see it. Heck, I can't see that far. Read this in the Texas Football magazine in the High School Records section. Can you imagine. -
Glad to see Buna has a good program going. Your team has earned respect. Keep up the good work and good luck in 07.
