It looks like it was a pretty good football district also. It will be similiar to last year's district, any team can be a spoiler on any given night.

The new coach, I believe, is Scott Norwood , long time coach of Quauxitta Baptist. sp? He has a very good record against bigger schools in the past.

Vidor shoud do well this year. The top of the lineup hit hard in Jasper during fall ball and a lot of the up and comers are playing all year long. When the football players get back they should be good.

Does anyone know if the Umpires are still holding a tournament at the end of July? They announced it during the Umpires All-Star game, but I haven't heard anything else.

GTB 16u won the first game 10-7 in eight innings. The second game was against the first place team and they lost 2-1 when the game was called due to very hard rain. A consolatation type game will be played Saturday. There seems to be another type of tournament scheduled for Sunday,details are sketchy,but something seems/smells a little fishy ( thanks mrb). The boys played well against some tough competition. Thanks coaches and sponsors for your support.

The final was 12 -8 Jasper. Sounded like a good game!

The Jasper 10 year old All-Stars won the District 12 Championship by defeating West End. They will play Bridge City, Friday @ 5:00pm. Bridge City wll be hosting this tournament. This game will be broadcasted on www.kjas.com

GTB 16u finished pool play 2-0-1 giving up a total of 3 runs (4-2,8-0,1-1). Pitching has been excellent with innings spread around giving next games plenty of firepower. Updates can be seen at game "wrap" www.perfectgame.org (BCS16Under National Championship).

GTB wins a hard fought grudge match against a team staying in the same hotel 12-9 today. Emotions were high but the boys kept their poise and scored runs in every inning. GTB is one of the top 32 teams and gets a day off tomorrow. Good job coaches,players, and parents for the phone updates!

Good job at the red stick GTB. GTB in Arizona wins today 5-0. Kane Benoit pitches a 71 pitch complete game. Sounded like a total team effort with hitting, pitching, stolen bases, bunts ,and timely defense. Keep up the good work and make SW.LA. and South East Texas proud. GTB come from a 7-1 hole to win 11-9 . Details hard to come by as cell phones are not working well to home.( to much fun! ) Good game boys ,way to battle back for the win. Rumor has it that it is very HOT there.

Game two Satuday was a 12-2 loss to the San Diego Gamers. I am sure some teams will be loaded with all 16yo players . This team had a previous loss and played with their backs to the wall. Sunday game is vs. Chili Davis Premier Baseball at 11. Play hard,have fun,and stay hydrated.

GTB wins game one in pool play 7-4 against Team Anderson from California.Solo shot by Ty Parker. Pitchers were Reggie Wilson,Forest Zoch and Matt Hicks ,(I think).GTB comes from behind to win.Game two today a 2:00 (4 here). Good game boys,put the Golden Triangle on the map(good luck to Sun Devils also),and show the college coaches and scouts that this area knows baseball.

GTY are 3-1 in Austin so far this weekend with a 9:30 start Sunday. They play in Baton Rouge next weekend with several coming back to play in the Umpires games Saturday and back for Sunday games in La. Darian James,Austin Stone,Reggie Wilson,Kane Beniot,LoganDugas,Evan Boren,Blake Reyenga,Forest Zoch,Jordan Darnall,Logan Johnson,Ty Parker,Amir Jalali,Jacob Pitts,BillySommers,Evan Powell.(15 yo and 16yo) The closest tournament will be one at Lamar later in June I think.

Congratulations Buna on a great year in district and playoffs. There is no reason that this and more cannot be reached next year.Thanks seniors for your steady play and leadership. I figure that Hart will be the best returning outfielder in the best returning outfield.(one of the quickest outfields in SETEXAS)
