  1. Missed another game but sounded like Jasper's bat were still working pretty well. Pitchers were Sowell, Phillips,Alvis,Clark,Burleson, maybe others. 25-3 or something like that Jasper.
  2. LCM and Jasper put up zeros first few innings as I was told. Shane Waddell looked good during his two or three innings on the mound. Ty Parker hits for the cycle with first homerun of the year. The score was something like 17-2 Jasper with a lot of Jasper offense, with hits coming all through the lineup. Pitching for Jasper was Sowell,Phillips,Alvis,Clark,Draper, and one other I believe. Someone else may can give more highlights or details.
  3. I think it was 14-8 Jasper ( no scoreboard tonight). Trey H looked good as did D. Sowell. It was tied 1-1 when both starters left after 2 innings.  Parker Phillips and Sam Alvis followed with a couple of innings each, and finished up with sophmores Jacob Clark and Drake Floyd.
  4. Jasper got some quality infield work in today. Outfield is damp but the winter grass will soak it up quickly. Dawgs looked pretty good and no one got hurt for a productive day one.
  5. Congrats Shane and family, Angelina gets a good one in Waddell. Good school with excellent facilities.
  6. Waltrip used to be pretty good back in the day but had a hard time beating Scarbourough who had a coach named W. Graham at one time long ago.
  7. Matt reminds me of a young man that plays in Boston. Have fun this year and enjoy the ride. Good luck in college and beyond. This kid can play at any level and will be a leader wherever he plays.
  8. The 2010 3A Top 20 has been posted and locals Orangefield and Jasper lead a strong region that also includes Bridge City,Carthage, and Hudson to top 20 status. This year should be a good year for local talent that might end with another trip to Austin for this region. 1. Giddings 2. Orangefield 3. Jasper 4. Lubbock Estacado 5. West 6. Farmersville 7. Bridge City 8. Princeton 9. Texarkana Pleasant Grove 10. Argyle 11. Robstown 12. Carthage 13. Lufkin Hudson 14. Lucas Lovejoy 15. Celina 16. Abilene Wylie 17. Andrews 18. Cameron Yoe 19. Needville 20. Sinton
  9. I agree Speed ,thats why the game isn't played on paper /internet. A long post season run for Kville this year will set up their best year in 2011 as I see it. That extra practice in a long playoff run sure helps the younger players grow up. The only thing that might hurt next year is realignment and a tough district just makes you stronger in the long run. Jones/Burns should be enough pitching to go a long way.
  10. There is a little bump in the road about 20 miles south that will be hard to get around. Josh Clark pitched against some tough competition this summer and showed off at short when not on the mound in Oklahoma. Every time you look up a Clark will be on the mound or batting for Buna.Throw in Baker, Baxter,Terrier, and others that can make Buna a threat to go real deep in the playoffs. One or three game series they will be able to cover.
  11. In no particular order:  Bridge City----Hicks enough said                                 Bullard                                 Jasper            senior loaded, small ball, long ball, defense, depth, they have it all                                 Orangefield      Statum/Felts will be an interesting district/season                                 Doesn't matter, whoever it is will probably face one of the above.
  12. It's almost that time of the year again, where the rest of the sports world starts thinking about baseball again. Looks like another good year of Bulldog Baseball is on tap for this spring. What a great oppurtunity to learn from the Dog Coaches in Brown and Trevino( playoffs since 1994,deep runs in last few years). It has been really good for the players to workout in offseason with a pro pitcher ( Beck) and learn from his journey. It is also good to have Coach Trevino back in Jasper looking for another trip to Austin. Maybe Jace T. and Austin B. can stand in the pictures this time. Have a good camp and get the young Dogs off in the right direction.
  13. Thanks for the updates ShlyKBMT. In 2009 Jasper played and lost 3 times ( 2 district ) to eventual State Champs Carthage. Bidistrict          W Jasper vs Bullard      ( 4-2 ) Area              W Jasper  vs Crocket    ( 11-4 ) Regional Quart.  L  Jasper vs Carthage  ( 0-5 )
  14. It must be getting slow on the football forum and a long time to spring practice or 7 on 7. Take a look around this spring and see who pitches for most teams and be thankful for select baseball. Select baseball has taken a diminishing enrollment area and kept it close talent and championship wise to the growing areas in this state. It (select) has done wonders for the baseball IQ for East Texas players to where they can compete with the Houston/Dallas/Austin areas on a yearly basis. Money can be spent in a number of ways, but when you cross the chalk line it is all on the kid and his skills that he brings with him no matter where he got them. I'll let the dead horse go back to sleep now!
  15. Congrats to all three and hope to see them on TV one day playing the game they love.
  16. Another semi local recruiting event ( San Antonio ) that two Jasper players attended recently is the Jimmy Gonzales South Texas Showcase. He is the midwest regional scout for the Washington Nationals and puts this showcase on for a fundraiser for a scout friend that passed away early in life. The event was seen  by about 75 scouts including 15 pro teams, the MLB Scouting Bureau, and many colleges. Many of the pro and college scouts were the same ones seen at a PG event in Dallas this summer. The event was VERY reasonable and went for a good cause. Derek Sowell and Ty Parker both did well and have heard from the scouts since the event. See details at Jimscout.com and prepare for next year. Most of the pitchers were pitch only ( about 15 pitches) and the rest threw for velocity, pop times,60 yard dash and hit 10 or so pitches.  Thanks also to the Umpire  for the hard work and effort put in for the summer all star games at LAMAR that they put on where local players can be seen by scouts both college and pro.
  17. All spots relative to no future football injuries and complete recovery from current injuries. 1.  Vidor 2.  PNG 3.  Nederland 4.  Orangefield 5.  Jasper 6.  Bridge City 7.  Westbrook 8.  LCM 9.  Hamshire Fannette 10. WOS One game series vs. a three game series could change positions in some cases.
  18. Jasper defeats LCM 16-2 in their best overall game this fall. Tyler Ernest (Dbl,2W,Hbp) leads off with a double to left. Jacob Soisson hits rbi single over short. Ty parker hits a 2r HR for a 3-0 lead. Parker Phillips pitches 4 shutout innings in his best outing yet. With some ill pitchers, Colton Burleson finished up giving up only two runs in the final innings. Other hitting highlights were Derek Sowell with (HR,Dbl, Single),J Soisson (triple off wall, single,W), Ty Parker 3/4- 2 2r HR, single,W) with several timely walks and hits spread throughout the order. Defense was stingy and almost error free. LCM's ace Waddell only pitched one inning and turned it over to the younger pitchers to get in some innings before spring time. Stretched pitching out since Sr. lefty Sowell had official visit for the next day. Next game for Jasper is Saturday AT Westbrook, (noon) and Next tuesday in Jasper vs, WOS, ( 5 PM )
  19. Sometimes the best power hitters are also the best bunters on the team aren't they Wiz.
  20. Ty Parker, Jasper Catcher verbally accepted a full ride scholarship to play baseball at Texarkana College. With an inside source from pitcher Justin Parson, the coaches followed him last year and this summer with the OKC Ambassador's and offered Saturday after a tryout with several other players.
  21. Vidor wins today 8-2 over Jasper. Vidor hit the ball really well and played good defensively as well.
  22. No games in Jasper Saturday-rain out.
  23. Jasper wins 14-0 against Lumberton Tuesday. Pitching did well and defense locked down with runners in scoring position. Sr. RF Lance Nerio hitting well in last few games, and Ty Parker hits another 3 run HR. Stanley,Bingham, and Erikson did well for Lumberton.. This weekend in Jasper against Lufkin Hudson around noon. This should be a good game with both teams playing mostly starters. Next Tuesday in Vidor.
  24. Two wins today for Fall Dogs in Nac CH today,4-0 and 24-4. Two 3 run hrs,one by Soph Clayton Hart and one by Sr. Ty Parker. Good pitching by Phillips,Burleson, Hart and Sowell. Duece Soission was smooth as usual at 2nd ,with the rest of the infield of Hart,Ernest,Burleson,Parker,Phillips playing good defense in both games. Tyler Ernest 4/4 in second game with all batters hitting well as well as getting hit. Outfielders shining even without SAM ALVIS who went off in Kville Friday night- 4 tds and 160+ yards rushing- oops another sport another category. Next gameTuesday against Lumberton in Jasper.
  25. Jasper defeats Lufkin Central in double header last Saturday 18-0 and 13-3. Pitching and hitting were both good for first games. Hr by Derek Sowell ,and 4 for 6 all doubles and a walk for Ty Parker. First game back for Tyler Ernest since knee surgery with good results. Parker Phillips and Sowell pitched well and rest of the lineup hit well also. Next games against Nac. Central Heights.
