Kirbyville vs. Anahuac Prediction's
Lefty99 replied to brianmcd's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs had an answer for almost every team they faced this season on their way to another playoff berth. But on Friday night, Corrigan-Camden had absolutely no answer for Kirbyville running back LeFredrick Ford. Ford shredded the Bulldogs' defense for 272 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries as the Wildcats eliminated Corrigan-Camden in Class 2A Division I Region II bi-district action at Lufkin's Abe Martin Stadium, 51-28. Corrigan-Camden's Eric Durham did his part as he ran for 192 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. That included 198 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries in the first quarter. But in the end, Ford and the Wildcats simply had too much offense for Corrigan-Camden. For the night, Kirbyville racked up 629 yards of total offense as it overcame a five-turnover night. Corrigan-Camden was also efficient on offense as it gained 379 total yards. Kirbyville will take on Anahuac in the next round of the playoffs. A wild first half saw Kirbyville with 425 total yards of offense and Ford doing most of the damage. He had 239 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries and added a 24-yard reception. Corrigan-Camden held its own for much of the half as Durham had 194 yards on 13 carries and the Bulldogs racked up 252 total yards of offense. The Wildcats needed just two plays to get on the board as Fred Rhodes scored on a 30-yard touchdown for an early 7-0 lead. Corrigan-Camden took two plays to answer as Durham broke off a 74-yard run that tied it at 7-7. Kirbyville muffed the following kickoff and the Bulldogs took over at the 35 yard line. Four plays later, Greg Nobles scored on a 3-yard run that gave Corrigan-Camden a 14-7 lead. Kirbyville tied the game on a Kael Jones 1-yard run to make it 14-14. The Bulldogs took the lead back on their next offensive play as Durham broke free for an 85-yard score. The extra point failed, leaving the game at 20-14. Kirbyville continued the barrage of big plays as Ford scored on a 64-yard run to take a 21-20 lead with 1:46 still left in the first quarter. The Wildcats extended that lead as Caleb Cucancic scored on a 65-yard pass from Jones to make it 28-20. Kirbyville delivered an appropriate end to an exciting first half as Ford scored on an 80-yard run on the final play of the second quarter. Cucancic ran in the two-point conversion for a 36-20 lead. Kirbyville got on the board midway through the third quarter as JaMichael Ervine scored on a 40-yard run to make it 43-20. A safety made the score 45-20 with 8:05 remaining. Kirbyville added its final score on a one-yard touchdown run by Burman Ervine that made it 51-20. Corrigan-Camden got on the board with 22 seconds remaining as JoCourtney Johnson scored on an eight-yard touchdown run and Greg Nobles found Roberto DeJesus on the two-point conversion to make the final 51-28. Corrigan-Camden finishes the season with an 8-3 record. -
I was at the Central game tonight and was told by some people from BISD that Kirbyville was trying to get "The Babe" for next Friday Night and that Alvarez wanted to play on grass.
Even before we knew where the game is this is farthest from the truth. He almost always wants field turf. -
Kirbyville vs. Anahuac Prediction's
Lefty99 replied to brianmcd's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
With the ball control that EC used on AP this yr it will be a long night against Kirbyville. CC came out swinging Fri. night and Durham has some speed like Ford. With that being said Kirbyville by 3 TD's. Anahuac cannot contain the run on defense. -
WILL K-VILLE MAKE IT TO STATE AGAIN

ROFL! Fortunately for Arp, Kirbyville played an extremely sloppy game last year, yet still won. Kirbyville was easily 3 TD's better than Arp was, but gave Arp every opportunity to stay in the game. For a team that has played absolutely no one this year, the Arp Tigers sure are confident. Lets hope hope that the Kirbyville staff don't get their hands on the West Rusk game film. The Raiders exposed Tiger weaknesses that the Wildcats will exploit bigtime.
So with drives of 97,65 and 71 with penilties going on Arp and not Kirbyville was a 3 td better team. Come on Kirbyville went up 15-0 with less than 2:00 off the clock. If they were so dang good why did Arp take the lead after turning the ball over 2 more times to Kirbyvilles 2 the whole game. That is 4-2 in Kirbyvilles favor. I am sorry but with that kind of an advantage your not 3 td's better if you barely won in the end and yes Kirbyville did win and was a good football team. But not 3 td's better than Arp
The only thing in Kirbyville defense is that the 2 turnovers they had gave Arp a much shorter field. That's not taking anything away from Arp at all but the stats don't lie...Kirbyville turned the ball over 1 more time than Arp Kirbyville Arp Total yards 368 245 First downs 15 16 Rushes/Yds 34/162 31/148 Average rush 4.76 4.77 Comp/Atts 7/13/0 8/20/2 Pass yards 206 97 Comp pct 53.85 40 Punts 2 2 Punting Yards 102 71 Punting Average 51 35.5 Fumbles/Lost 5/4 1/1 Penalties-yards 9-90 8-61 -

I think Kirbyville will tend to business. They may not have a state championship trophy, but they definitely have a winning program that is capable of beating anyone in the state, including Arp, like last year. Just stand in line and wait your turn uknowit2. They'll get to you.
what since kirbyville beat yall your all buddy buddy with them we will handle kirbyville by at least 28 points and if yall combined your teams we would be beat yall by 20 still
You just proved yourself right there in that statement. Though, it is a shame that all these boys can't be on the same team...Eagle and Cat fans just visualize Bennett and Ford in the same backfield........back to reality. Get back to your Kool-Aid.
-
Following your logic Lefty, if it's such an accomplishment winning a couple of playoff games as 'one of the smallest 3A teams' in the state, then K'ville's success last year as 'one of the largest teams' in 2A was a forgone conclusion.
You are overanalyzing it. I never said it was a forgone conclusion. If you had any sense about football in general you would know that you are never guaranteed a win especially in the playoffs. 2. If you knew where Kirbyville's program came from where it was a mere 10 yrs ago then you might would understand. But your comparing state titles to success is absurd.
that too
didnt lose any pride did lose the game though yall couldnt capitalize on that win though remember the mule 48-26 that score sound familiar
You try and say that Kville and their D is weak. You then claim that CC will basically throttle Kirbyville. Then you bring this in your defense???? As said this is alot coming from someone that doesn't even know where Gopher Warrior Bowl is at much less the road out of Lufkin back to the gym in Arp. Hear is a little bit of advise junior....bring some solid statements that actually have some truth and merit. -
Newton take care of business in this one.
Newton can beat us we seen that in the first half and theres no way yall can beat us i wish newton could play yall just to prove yall to be nothing we are not going to hold back we will smoke yall
we will see yall dont have number 5 and number 11 and number 4 from last year to win the game for yall i can promise you yall better not hold back or we will beat yall worse
Funny thing is that Hughey(#4) practically handed y'all the game on a platter and you still couldn't close the deal....well, he also closed the deal for you in the same sense.
congrats to Newton on a awesome year and great game last night. I think Kville was obviously the best team last year. I think that this year that playing at home and taking advantage of a few mistakes by Newton they was able to come out with a win against a better Newton team. Wish them both well in the playoffs and looking forward to supporting the Eagles in the Playoffs. Nothing but prayers for Bennett and wishing him well!
Newton was better in the 1st half and Kirbyville was better in the 2nd half (though you could see Kirbyville's adjustments start to form in the 2nd qtr). I don't think either team really has an edge on each other. Very evenly matched teams. Like you said though...adjustments we the key to the game.
