*Kirbyville vs. Jasper Updates/DAWGS WIN!
Lefty99 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hats off to Jasper and their coaching staff for making their adjustments early in the 2nd qtr. Once they realized they wouldn't be able to throw the ball they brought out that dang triple option. Very tough to defend against. Kirbyville shot themselves in the foot one to many times (as mentioned 6 turnovers). Had plenty of opportunities but it wasn't in the cards for them to win. Alvis will be tough once he can throw the ball more efficiency....#11 McGill!!!! Great game from that young man. Now it's Kirbyville's turn to make adjustments before next week....I can assure you that Alvarez will have them tightened up this week. Great game all in all. -
Player Saves 22 Kids On Bus...Must Read!
Lefty99 replied to Lefty99's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That is the sole reason that I posted it. Not that local players aren't hero's to young kids or anything. It just seemed fitting for alot of people to see what a true model citizen and hero this young man is. I really wonder how many athletes with commitments to major universities would do the same thing. I think you can say how many PEOPLE period would have done it. Most people would have just sat there and done nothing. You are exactly right. -
Weather man/sports guru! ;D

Is there a team that you know nothing about? ;D
-
Kirbyville takes it. Close game through 3 qtrs but the running game of the Cats and the defense prove too much for the Dogs.
-
Not real sure about Rains, but it looks like Gilmer has refocused from last week....Everybody has a bad game.....or bad half.

[Hidden Content] Tuesday morning began just like any other morning for football star Kaleb Eulls. Eulls and his three younger sisters were among 22 passengers on a school bus bound for Yazoo County High School in western Mississippi until a 14-year old female student boarded the bus armed with a .380 semi-automatic handgun threatening to shoot and ordering the bus driver to pull over. Eulls had fallen asleep at the back of the bus listening to his mp3 player and did not realize what was happening until one of his sisters woke him up. "My sister that was in front of me woke up and told me that the girl had a gun," Eulls said. "She was pointing it back and forth at other people and the little kids that were sitting at the back. I just thought real quick and tried to grab her attention before she pointed the gun at anybody else. I wanted her to point it at me so she wouldn't point it at anybody else." Kaleb Eulls saved the lives of 22 students Tuesday morning. Eulls then opened up the emergency door located in the back and began evacuating as many students as he could from the rear of the bus while trying to reason with the armed female. "I just tried to talk to her and calm her down," said the 6-foot-4, 255-pound Eulls. "She was just getting louder and louder. I guess for a quick second she looked out the window and when she did that I just sprung at her. I just knocked her down and got the gun away from her. When I got the gun I ran out the back door and disarmed it." Eulls, who is a four-star defensive end that is verbally committed to play football at Mississippi State next year, was not concerned for his own well being at the moment. He selflessly did what he thought was the right thing to save the life of the others on board. "I was just scared for the younger kids and my family that was on the bus," Eulls said. "I was just thinking things out step-by-step as quickly as I could. After we got to the school and watched the tape I just sat there thinking 'what in the world did I just do?' I just thought about what if this would have happened or if this would have happened? It was just crazy." Eulls, already a hometown sports hero in the town of just over 1,300 about 30 miles north of Jackson, Miss., earned the respect of the local law enforcement. "The (officers) who have been there for a long time told me that they have stared down many barrels before and always felt like it was a big cannon pointing at them," Eulls said. "It is one scary feeling." Yazoo County Sheriff Tommy Vaughn was quoted in the Jackson, Miss., based The Clarion Ledger saying "If it hadn't been for this star football player, things could have been different. He didn't go overboard, but he did exactly what it took to get her on the ground. "He made the statement to one of my deputies that if she was going to shoot anyone he would rather she shoot him. Watching him do that and him doing such a heroic act and not even caring about his own safety, that's something you don't see every day." The female assailant was arrested on 22 counts of attempted aggravated assault, 22 counts of kidnapping and one count of possession of a firearm on school property. She was taken to the county juvenile detention facility. As for people now calling a hero, Eulls feels he was just doing what anyone else would have done in that situation. "I just tell them thank you and not to do anything crazy like that," Eulls said. Eulls is rated the No. 19 defensive end in the nation and the No. 8 overall prospect in Mississippi by Rivals.com. He holds scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Tennessee but has been committed to the Bulldogs since early July.

the answer is ALVIS the best qb in this neck of the woods.. Not so fast my friend!.....I would take Flannigan from Newton over Alvis Much more polished and a proven winner.

*Kirbyville vs. Diboll Updates/Kirbyville Rolls/Comments*
Lefty99 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
K'ville did everything right and the Jacks did most everything wrong. The 'Cats have a very good team but let's give credit where credit is due, please. The one thing the Jacks did do well was to shut down K'ville passing game. That's why they were running the ball so much. The Jacks pass defense was to much for them. In fact, the only pass they completed in the game was the trick play that went for a TD. The 'Cats had better work on their pass defense. Sooner or later you are going to get an officiating crew that knows what pass interference looks like and K'ville is going to have a long night. I cant believe what I just read! There are certain things you do not and can not brag about! When a team is beating you by thirty points after the first quarter and almost fifty at halftime and they quit throwing the ball and start handing the ball off to the four team runningbacks to keep from running the score up on you!!! you can not brag about shutting the passing game down. You mentioned give credit where credit is due right??? Well I cant!! If I got on here and said what really needs to be said about the way Diboll played it would hurt alot of kids feelings. I think that eveyone that was at the game and has commented on her about the game has been very generous to your program so I wouldnt push the issue. OK. You can't give credit for the Jacks playing good pass defense. That's cool. Then you must be willing to admit K'ville's passing game is all but non-existent. It's either one or the other. They tried the whole first quarter to throw the ball and when they couldn't (for whatever reason you choose to believe) they just decided to run the ball down our throat. And they did a good job of it. That doesn't change the fact that they had only one pass completion in the whole game. That is true but a one dimensional team is much easier to beat than a dual threat. Do understand that Kirbyville has a very green QB that made some bad reads and over threw one guy that had blown by the secondary, but as Curtis Barbay says as long as you have the most points in the alloted time that's all that matters. -
Packed like a sardine in Kirbyville's press box with the play-by-play of the Kville/Jasper game. Jenny's during halftime! mmmmmmmmmmmm good!

That's a good one. Karma for you my friend ;D

Kirbyville will be dangerous in 2009!

Easy now...it wasn't me that was comparing the scrimmages, so what's the point in bringing that up with me. And I'm not biting off more than I can chew - it's a fact that if both of us make the playoffs we will play each other! Yes every team should take it one game at a time, but bottom line is - we will both make the playoffs and we will face each other. As far as I'm concerned they could set the date/time/location right now. I know your team is good, just don't expect them to have it so easy this season. Maybe your the one that's biting off more than you can chew, so put that in your pipe and smoke it!! I forgot...y'all will still have to play bi-district game first - you must win to face us!!! Consider it a gift from the UIL....and it's not because of Anahuac being a strong district. -
Kirbyville vs. Diboll Predictions?
Lefty99 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Depending on how Diboll's field drains it looks to be a wet track tonight folks. Just hope that it isn't too sloppy! -
I'll be right there beside your ugly mug! ;D

You are right about that. Those are 2 very fine men and coaches! Know them both personally very well.

Kirbyville vs. Diboll Predictions?
Lefty99 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Now I will go ahead and give my prediction....Kville takes it...Shocked? ;D No doubt Diboll has a good RB and up and coming QB but Kville's defense will be better than most think after losing alot of key players....not to mention the offense that they churn out yr after yr....alot of guys returning that got some quality time last yr.....and JohnsTon being there doesn't hurt at all. -

93 yard drive in 1:10 to win the game! The best HS game I have witnessed and the FG was to win the game...miss it and it would've been over for K-ville. Lil brother Aaron was the holder on that FG... -

Last I heard it's between Cucancic, Jones, or Vanya. at practice they are using cucancic more than anyone vanya is also a very good quarterback but jones is out of the question he will be backup tight end I figured that he would have the upper hand on the job this summer. I could tell when Vanya was an 8th grader he would be a good QB...he's a soph. right? Cucancic just seems to have the upper hand with the experience. -
